Belek turtles. Belek (Turkey)

Belek, one of the youngest resorts on the Turkish coast, is an amazing place in the province of Antalya, where the Taurus Mountains smoothly turn into a plain, eucalyptus groves replace coniferous forests and you can hear the sound of the surf of the Mediterranean Sea. The city attracts mostly wealthy tourists looking for a calm, peaceful and quality holiday.

On the coast, stretching for 20 kilometers, it is rare to find a budget three-star or even four-star hotel. Luxurious complexes and club hotels stand right on the first line, and, as a rule, only a few minutes separate you from the gentle sea and wide beach.

And here are five reasons to do so:

The luxury and comfort of this hotel will leave a lasting impression on anyone who visits here. You should not dwell on the decoration of the rooms, as absolutely any room has everything you need and even more, including children's bathrobes, slippers, shampoos. The service here is top-notch - there are few places where they do such things as turning the room for bed, making beds, hanging curtains and leaving sweets with a good night wish. Swimming pools, common areas, children's dishes in the restaurant are disinfected daily. Upon request, a baby cot and high chair will be provided, as well as a potty, baby monitor or stroller.

The special children's concept of the hotel cannot be listed in words: the Maxxi Land complex, the dinopark, the water park, labyrinths, cinema halls, birthday parties - this is just a small part of what children can do in 2019. A fairly budget hotel for its category is located on a small, but thoughtfully planned and very beautiful area on the first line on the Mediterranean coast. You need to go down the stairs to the beach, but there is also a wheelchair ramp. Sun loungers and deckchairs in large numbers, and there is no hype for them.

The hotel has a large outdoor pool, a separate one with water slides and a mini-bath in the kids club. Animators constantly hold competitions, olympiads, cooking classes. For an additional fee, you can go to the hall with slot machines. A paradise for sports lovers will be football, basketball, tennis, bocce, darts and many others, including water sports. A pleasant bonus will be the reverent attitude of the staff towards the guests: if you have a birthday, be sure to expect a compliment from the hotel in the form of a cake. The service itself is impeccable and will leave only pleasant memories, all the wishes of the guests, whether it be baby bedding or hot water for diluting the mixture, are carried out promptly and flawlessly.

A species of sea turtle is regularly observed: Caretta-Caretta (Caretta-Caretta), Caretta-Caretta turtles are on the list of endangered animals. The fact is that for a long time they were considered a delicacy not only in the Far East, but also in some European countries (for example, France and Italy).
These marine reptiles have been living on Earth for 95 million years. Adult turtles reach a size of 115-150 cm, while their weight is about 70-90 kg.....
Caretta-Caretta lays eggs only once every two to three years. Turtles go out onto the sand and, using their hind legs, dig several holes, then, choosing, in their opinion, the most suitable one, they lay eggs there. One turtle can dig up to 80-100 holes, but it will lay all its eggs in only one of them. The process of laying eggs lasts for hours and experts say that the female turtle does not experience positive emotions at all at this moment.
This exhausting procedure for turtles lasts about 60 days (from May to July). And from July to September, small turtles begin to appear. They say that males are hatched at a temperature of 28.5 ° C, but for females, heat is required more - 32 ° C.
Cubs hatched on the appointed day,
moreover, they say, they still need to sit in the sand for 26 hours, which is probably why the supervisors feel the place of laying so carefully - the palm goes vertically into the sand in several places in turn.

If "something suspicious", they rake horizontally to the sides with their palms - in layers.

Probably, being afraid to injure the kids who have already decided to get out on their own :)

If they don’t find anything, they all bury it again, make appropriate notes in their notebook and put a wire frame over the masonry - until the next time.

Yes, so the kids get out of the hole and, guided by the moon, head to the sea, carried away by instinct. During the period when the little turtles hatch from eggs, it is forbidden to kindle a fire or light a light, because it can deceive the cubs and they will go astray. They should have time to get to the water before dawn and the heat came. Latecomers are destroyed by the hot rays of the sun or become food for birds. One of the most dangerous enemies on earth they have is a fox. Of course, even once at sea, the cubs cannot be considered completely safe. Not reaching a certain size, they serve as tasty food for fish.
Instinct again leads adults to the place where they were born. Having hatched in one place, they return there already in order to give life to a new generation.
In Turkey, there are 17 beaches where sea turtles lay their eggs, among them the most important are, for example, Iztuzu, Patara, the Gösu River Delta (Gösu), Belek - all of them have the status of protected areas.

I, in general, disagree about Belek, but it’s not for me to judge.
Well, we came here knowing that Caretta breeds here and that we need to run in the morning (we read w, but what about w!) To the beach and peer at the people walking by.

Oh. Only, having gone to the beach, well, we completely forgot about it - after all, the sea is the same! Half past six in the morning and very warm. And the sea is gentle and the air is warm and my temperature has been 38.2 since yesterday.

And then literally 25 meters from us - it is obvious. And we are in chest-deep water.
In general, they caught us by surprise, but we are for the cameras and run :)
And there already special uncles enter in a special notebook how many pieces from which number of the hole when they got out.

The people of various colors lined up in two lines and with very welcoming cries of the kids, of whom there were four, encourages.

Uncles shout at onlookers so that they don’t inadvertently interfere :) They drove me away when I was standing half a meter to the side of the highway - you never know, maybe the kid wants to turn?

In general, there were four supervisors. And figli? Responsible work!
One records does.

One - with an important plaque on his chest, like, the main one.

He makes all decisions about all the movements of the supervisors in the case of turtles.
One - raises and lowers, and, in case of need, takes away into the common pile the wire frames that are no longer needed, which are installed above the masonry, while the baby is still in the sand.

And he carries a bucket.
One - I don't know why, probably - for the company.
With a bucket is a separate issue: we watched four kids move towards the water. One of them was very weak. At all:(
It was put into this same bucket. Probably carried to the turtle cemetery :(

While the turtles are crawling towards the water (and it's funny, the closer they are to the water, the faster they run, even jump :) it seems that they feel it, even though they were born just a few minutes ago :)), the supervisors are busy with a very important thing: they carefully they dig up the masonry - their former home, everyone checks if there is anything else left there, counts the peel, put it back and bury the masonry.

And they don’t go anywhere until the turtles swim away :)

And even if the turtle, which itself is still the size of 3/4 cigarette packs, rolls over, falling off a pebble on the beach, it does not need to be helped by a specially trained uncle helps her in some strange, but probably more effective way: he does not turn over, he puts his finger to her, helping her to strain her little snares and roll over herself :)

As soon as the baby finally and confidently swims away, they collect their little things and go to the next clutch.
The whole crowd is behind them.

A distinctive feature of the whole of Turkey is that throughout the country they are very careful and rather reverent about their interesting historical past. They do not deny that power has changed on the territory, foundations and culture have changed. And even though Belek quite a young city, in it (and beyond) there are what look.
The city itself and its coastal strip is filled with luxury hotels. But as soon as you leave the city, you literally plunge into the historical past of Turkey.

1. The most interesting historical site in the Belek region is the ancient city of Perge.

It is from its name that the word "parchment" comes from. The city is located near the D400 highway, near the town of Aksu, east of Antalya (almost in its suburbs). This attraction Belek from those, what can you see on your own?. Because regular buses from Antalya to Manavgat and others run regularly along this route. Approaching Aksu, get off near the pedestrian bridge, ask the driver to stop near Perge Yolu. Then go along this street, which is directed perpendicular to the highway, opposite from the sea. On foot you will need 25 minutes to get to Perge.

It is believed that ancient Perge was founded in the 13th century BC by the Mycenaean soothsayer Kalchas. However, there is evidence that the city was founded several centuries earlier and was then called Parha.

Over time, the city (however, like all the territories around it) passed from the Lydians to the Persians, from Alexander the Great to Pergamum. Perge reached its peak during the reign of the Roman Empire (until the 2nd century BC). It was under Rome that the most significant archaeological sites that have survived to this day are being built in the city: a theater, a stadium, Roman gates, towers and city walls, baths and a nymphaeum (as large fountains used to be called), a temple and two basilicas, Perge streets and a palace, an acropolis.

Many of these archaeological sites are still being excavated. In the first centuries of our era, Christianity came here, churches began to be erected, the apostles Barnabas and Paul came to preach. But ancient Perge is gradually falling into decay, and by the 7th century AD, almost all of its inhabitants leave the city. And with the raid on the territory of the Seljuks, Perge is given to oblivion.

It is believed that it was in Perge that the great ancient mathematician and astronomer Apollonius and his student Euclid lived. A one-time entrance to the territory of Perge for one person costs about 30 Turkish lira. There you can also buy a special card for 70 and 190 lira with which you can visit other archaeological sites such as Olympos, Phaselis and others.

Take the time and money to visit such a unique place. Fans of antiquities will simply be delighted with Perge.

2. The second, but no less significant place, what is possible see in Belek (Turkey) is an Koprulu Canyon National Park.

This park is artificial. In the territory of the present park there were wetlands, which were highly prone to erosion. But by order of Sultan Abdulaizid II, a large number of eucalyptus, coniferous trees and cypresses were planted here. The trees took root well and spread over an area of more than 500 hectares.

Today "Köprülü Canyon" is a unique place located north of Belek on the slopes of the Eastern Taurus, where almost 600 species of endemic plants grow (plants that grow in a limited area, nowhere else); more than 100 species of birds, including the barn owl, which is the symbol of Belek; a large number of different animals; and at certain times of the year, unique huge caretta-caretta turtles come here to lay their eggs.

The territory of 36 hectares, located between the villages of Beshkonak and Bolasan, has been declared a national reserve "Koprulu Canyon" since 1973. The entrance fee to the reserve for adults is $25, for children - $15. Separately, it will be necessary to pay for all the services and excursions offered here.

“Köprülü Canyon” will delight tourists not only with marvelous nature, but also with ancient Roman buildings (Oluk bridge), will captivate with descent along the turbulent Köprüchay River, hiking and horseback riding in the park, extreme mountain climbing.

3. If you are a fan of wandering through interesting natural objects, then you should pay attention to Zeytin Tash cave.

Another name for this cave is Olive Stone. The cave itself is small, located north of the city of Serik, half an hour's drive from Belek and belongs to the category of objects what can see for yourself. It was opened quite recently, in the late 90s of the XX century. Almost immediately after the discovery, the cave was closed from loitering curious. And only after everything was explored and equipped for visiting, they opened it. The uniqueness of the cave is that stalactites and stalagmites have been preserved in their original form. Some are so thin and openwork that one cannot believe in their natural origin.

4. The category of sights of Belek includes water park "Troya" along with the eponymous dolphinarium.

They are located on the territory of the luxurious Rixos Premium Belek hotel. The area of the water park is more than 12,000 square meters, occupied by various pools, slides, water attractions, and all this is done “under the ancient Troy”. Various coniferous and eucalyptus trees grow on the territory of the water park. So, in addition to entertainment, you will get healing with unique air.

At the peak of the season, according to many tourists, there is nowhere for an apple to fall.

In case you are a little tired of the height differences on the slides in the water park, we recommend visiting the Troy Dolphinarium. It is located nearby, so you don't have to go far. In the dolphinarium, in addition to the dolphins and fur seals familiar to you, you will also meet unusual belugas.

Even if you came to rest in Turkey at the height of the tourist season, try to allocate at least half a day to visit Troy - you are guaranteed a lot of positive impressions.

5. And of course, to visit Belek and not go to play golf on the famous golf courses resort - nonsense!

Golf does not tolerate haste, chaos and imbalance. While you move from one hole to another, you will be able to fully enjoy the seascape, peaceful nature and the highest level of service.

Belek golf courses are so popular and famous in the world that world-class team competitions are often held here.

As you can see, despite the fact that Belek is a young city, it already has its own zest, its own charm and its own unique sights. Come to Belek - and your vacation will be at the highest level!

If you are bored with the “all inclusive” food and decide to eat in the city without being embarrassed by the prices, please note: a romantic dinner by candlelight (or without them) with gourmet dishes from the chef, SeaView and decent wine will cost about 500-600 TRY for two.

Pay attention to the meat restaurant Adana Ocakbasi, characterized by "democratic" prices. Here you can eat well and tasty for 70-90 TRY. Vegetarians should order vegetable "sebzeli-kebab". Deniz is a good fish and seafood restaurant. Pinokyo offers Italian cuisine. A serving of spaghetti will cost 23 TRY, and lasagna will cost 28 TRY.

Attention! In local restaurants, as well as shops, prices are higher than the average tourist prices in other resorts.

Most of Belek's 16 km coastline is divided between five star first line hotels. This multi-kilometer kingdom of golden sand(part of the beaches are sandy and pebbly), on one side of which Mediterranean waves roll onto the shore, and on the other, the crowns of relic pines and eucalyptus trees rush up. On both sides, hotel private beaches “prop up” public beaches, a place for beach recreation for local residents and guests of hotels of the second and third lines.

The beaches of Belek are sun umbrellas and sun loungers, rental offices and mini-bars, public toilets and showers / changing rooms, rescue services and first-aid posts. Beach infrastructure - "full stuffing". Every evening the territory is cleaned, the sand is cleaned and leveled with special equipment. A number of Blue Flag beaches.

Diving off the coast of Belek is good due to the absence of strong currents, the warmth and transparency of the water, plus there are not many people here either on the water or under water. However, experienced divers have nothing to do directly at the resort.

If there are enough diving centers at hotels for beginners, then more experienced lovers of deep diving should take an interest in a “diving safari” to the shores of Antalya, Kemer or Kas.

Local travel agencies and hotels offer day trips with dives in Kas, dive tours at the sunken French ship in Kemer and others.

Small but cute and free zoo located on the territory of the Bellis Deluxe Hotel.

Here you can admire:

  • kangaroo;
  • pony;
  • donkeys;
  • zebras;
  • all kinds of monkeys;
  • flamingos;
  • swans;
  • pelicans.

Tourists with kids should visit the local ranch, where the smallest vacationers can ride a pony (children really like it). The entrance is free.

What to see on your own with children?

Most four or five star hotels offer decent facilities for children. With kids, it is worth visiting the Bellis Zoo, the Land of Legends theme park, and the Troy water park.

Don't forget that Troy hosts an exciting show with marine animals every day at 11:00 and 14:30. Tickets to the park will cost 150/100 TRY (adult / child), a photo with a dolphin - 60 TRY. If you want to please your child by riding a dolphin, you will have to pay 400 TRY.

If you want to take a break from a beach holiday, then take excursions from Belek around Turkey or the surroundings of the resort. There are indicative excursion programs for 1, 3, 5 days.

Program for 1 day:

For 3-5 days:

Excursion programs for 2-3-5 days are offered by almost all local hotels and numerous travel agencies. The list of routes and attractions is extremely wide. For example:

Conclusion

Belek - great resort, albeit quite expensive. However, if you are not satisfied with the entertainment package of your hotel and knick-knacks from local souvenir shops, it is better to look for sights and shopping "on the side".

Fortunately, the best natural and historical "pearls" of the region are located in the immediate vicinity and it is very easy to compensate for the lack of impressions.

Turkey, Belek, the beach - a great vacation for every taste

On dark southern evenings, tourists rush to discos, and turtles to the beaches of Belek.
