What's wrong with the beach in Jomtien now? Jomtien Beach in Pattaya: review, photos, reviews

Pattaya is perceived by tourists from all over the world as something united and whole, consisting of a continuous holiday, entertainment, gastronomic delights, comfortable beaches and hotels. In fact, this is the case throughout its entire territory; only it consists of several satellite cities, very closely merged with Pattaya itself.

One of these satellites is the Jomtien area, which is located three kilometers south of Central Pattaya. Its peculiarity lies in the fact that it differs significantly from the center itself and other areas of Pattaya in that it is relatively calm and there are no specific urban slums, which, let’s not lie, are present in other areas.

That is why many tourists choose this area and its beaches for a holiday with family and children.

FEATURES OF THE AREA AND BEACH

Jomtien Beach stretches for as much as five kilometers as a narrow sandy strip along the northern shore of the bay, starting from Cape Pattaya and ending at the town of Sat Hip. IN south direction within two kilometers there is a small town called Mimosa, which is chosen by loving tourist couples who specially come here for a romantic holiday. Throughout coastline For the convenience of vacationers, a comfortable highway has been laid, which is separated from the beach by a narrow strip of forest with palm trees. Only in the northern part of the highway does it become a pedestrian zone.

This highway, separating the beach area from the residential area, is not too busy. That is why hotels near Jomtien Beach in Pattaya are more affordable in the price segment, since they are located on a secondary road and not on the main road. So what? Many vacationers are attracted by the opportunity to save on such a trifle.

Infrastructure of the Jomtien region

If you are interested in the infrastructure of this area, it is concentrated along the lanes perpendicular to the highway. Please note that they all bear the name Jomtien and a number that increases in value from north to south.
Everything that attracts tourists to Jomtien is located on a narrow strip literally 100-200 meters in size.

Map of Jomtien area

If you want to visit nightclubs, Go-Go bars or use the services of exotic, according to your friends, Thai girls of, let's say, easy virtue, then, unfortunately, you have come to the wrong place.

There are also no Thai markets or complexes known for their originality in this area where you can combine shopping with entertainment. But - all the other components of a great vacation, such as: famous massage parlors, restaurants with cuisine of any choice - French, Italian, Russian, as well as travel agencies and a huge selection of hotels to suit your taste - from ultra-modern sophisticated high-rise buildings to quite affordable guest houses there , and have no doubt, are present.

In Jomtien, you can freely go to any Internet cafe, small shopping shops that sell various souvenirs, clothes, shoes and everything you might need on the beaches there. You can also freely use the bike rental services

ENTERTAINMENT IN JOMTIEN

Main places for exotic holiday(if you are a supporter) in the Jomtien area of Pattaya, called attractions, are located within the Pattaya Hotel Park Beach Resort. In the green area next to this hotel there are all kinds of entertainment facilities: attractions, the Cartoon Network Amazone water park. Those tourists who prefer extreme recreation can try ziplining from the Pattaya Park Tower or simply enjoy the magnificent scenery from above over the city and the Gulf of Thailand.

If you love shows with exotic animals, and even more so want to please your children by meeting them, then we recommend that you visit a show with dolphins in Jomtnya.

NIGHT MARKET IN JOMTIEN

If you decide to combine your vacation with shopping when traveling to an exotic country (which is very predictable and expected), then we recommend that you visit the Jomtien night market, which is open every day from 17:00 to 23:00 at the intersection of an unnamed lane north of Jomtien 9 and the highway, which runs along the beach.

Not only is everything cheap and tasty there, but it is also done so that all tourists from the post-Soviet space feel comfortable in accordance with their habits. Adapting to modern realities and tourists, Thai traders provide all price tags in Russian, so as not to ask again, and you can bargain without a translator.

Markets in the Jomtien area of Pattaya are located along Thepprasit Street. Most of them are located at the intersection with the Sukhumvit highway. In addition, prices there are low compared to Central Pattaya, as locals love to shop there.

JOMTIEN HOTELS

Hotels in the Jomtien area are modern, comfortable hotels, usually with several hundred rooms for residents. There are older hotels, but the majority were built in recent years at the peak of the tourist boom.

But if you want to live in an exotic bungalow, then Jomtien is not for you. Five kilometers of coastline provide independent tourist(well, you are obviously one of them!) There are many chances to find an inexpensive and affordable guest house. When choosing an overnight stay, it is worth considering that, as a rule, it is located farthest from the sea (a 10-minute walk - by and large, this is not an indicator) and is surrounded by drinking establishments of varying degrees.

Therefore, amateur night concerts such as karao are certainly guaranteed for you. But the prices may please you. For a daily stay they will charge you only 400 baht. Unfortunately, reservations are not available. We stopped by, luckily we moved in.

In principle, booking a hotel in Thailand is a separate topic for discussion.

BEACH AND SEA IN JOMTIEN

Jomtien Beach, like Pratumnak Beach located to the north, is one of the most tranquil places in tourist Pattaya, which is bustling with life’s adventures. There is no concrete jungle, no continuous flow of cars and motorbikes on the streets. It's simple most beautiful place, where you can calmly walk with the whole family.

The coastal zone is the cleanest among the rest Pattaya beaches, not counting the Military. True, you won’t notice any special differences from the same Pattaya Beach. The sand here is the most common, yellowish in color, moderately trampled by the feet of numerous tourists. There is also no crystal clear water, like on the island of Koh Larn. It is best to relax there, sitting comfortably on a sun lounger or take an evening promenade along the shore, enjoying the beauty of the sunset.

The beach infrastructure includes, as in other similar coastal areas, water attractions, sun loungers, massage parlors, souvenir shops, all kinds of small cafes. There are no so-called peddlers here - walking merchants who pester you with their goods. Where the highway ends and the pedestrian zone begins, they are practically absent.

HOW TO GET TO JOMTIEN

Transfer

You can get to Jomtien quickly, comfortably and safely by ordering a transfer through any taxi service in Pattaya. On at the moment There are already a lot of them, so by typing in the search you will have something to choose from.

It’s very convenient: you book a car through the website, then a driver is waiting for you at the airport with a sign with your details. He will also act as a loader and help carry your luggage to the car. If your child needs a child seat, such a seat will be provided. You will then be transferred safely to your booked hotel.

Direct bus

Jomtien Beach can also be conveniently reached directly from Suvarnabhumi Airport without a transfer in Pattaya Central by bus toThappraya Bus Station. This flight starts at the intersection of Thappraya and Thepprasit roads. Bus tickets can be booked through the Thai service 12go.asia!

Bus + songthaew

If the nearest bus from Bangkok Airport goes to Pattaya North Bus Terminal (Nakhon Chai Oe), then you can use the services of the municipal songthaew. These are Japanese blue pickup trucks, converted to passenger transportation. The cabin has two parallel benches on which passengers sit, handrails and a roof, so passengers who do not fit inside the bus stand on the back step of the songthaew. This is a common occurrence in Thailand. The main landmark is Thepprasit Street, south of which Jomtien begins. Songthaews turn off at Jomtien Sai 2 and drive to Chaiapriuek Street, dropping off and picking up passengers along the way. From the final stop they turn around and go back. Please note that the distance from each stop to the sea is no more than half a kilometer. Very convenient.

Pattaya is the main Thai resort located on the mainland. This city receives over one million tourists a year. The Jomtien area in Pattaya deserves special attention. It is located in the southern part of the city and is also divided into several parts: north, center and south.

Location of Jomtien

The beach and Jomtien area are located just 15 minutes from the city center. Moreover, prices here are much more affordable than in Pattaya itself. In addition, there is less noise from the metropolis, and thanks to the good infrastructure and well-groomed conditions, this part of the resort is chosen by tourists with children, for whom the holiday will be safe and comfortable.

Jomtien is perfect for all those who cannot swim or want to splash around not deep. This is due to the fact that during low tide the water recedes so much that you can wander very far in the shallow water. At the same time, during low tide, the muddy bottom is visible and marine life is visible. Such as starfish and urchins. And with all this, there are no diving sites here.

Beach service

Here, also, compared to other resorts in Thailand, there is inexpensive rental of sun loungers. Only 60-80 baht in the first line and 40 baht in the third. Moreover, the word sun lounger means getting a whole beach set, which consists of a sun lounger, an umbrella, a table and even a clothes hanger.

Jomtien is quite narrow - only 15 m, but at the same time it is extended by as much as 6 km. In addition, it is worth noting that there is no designated swimming area, and boats are moored along the coast.

There is a highway along the entire beach, which makes the beach more accessible to visitors, but at the same time makes it quite noisy. Although there is a strip of green space along the road, which significantly reduces the noise level.

Beach composition

As mentioned above, Jomtien consists of three parts. So, North Jomtien smoothly flows into South Pottaya. There are not many sun loungers here, green palms and other trees grow everywhere, and along the sidewalks it is cozy and interesting to walk in the evening under the light of lanterns and watch the sea sunset.

The only drawback is that the roadway is too close to the beach. As for the central part of the beach, more active activity is already noted here. nightlife. This area of the beach is home to a huge number of different bars, massage parlors, discos and shopping areas. Also, various competitions in various types of water sports are often held here. Speaking of the south of the beach, the Thais themselves like to relax here with their families.

Entertainment in Jomtien

This beach pleases with an abundance of all kinds of water activities. These include jet skis, parachutes, bananas, water skis, and much more. The local water park is a great place to visit. In addition, there is a cable car and a zip lining tower. There are also entire entertainment complexes, such as the Fish Park, which provides paid fishing, a yacht club and even the experimental theater Thai Alangkarn Theater.

There are also many attractions near the beach. There is a crocodile farm, floating market, a whole dinosaur park and even Buddha Mountain.

Accommodation in Jomtien

Along the entire beach there is large number hotels with access to the sea. Thus, hotels on Jomtien 1st line are mainly represented by one- or two-story hotels. But there are also bungalows and cottages, and guesthouses are cheaper options. Unfortunately, many small hotels are not available on the Internet, so it is quite difficult to book a room with them in advance. But their accommodation is quite cheap - on average only 400 baht per day. However, it's enough good hotels to Jomtien.

Expensive and comfortable hotels in Jomtien Pattaya charge from $47 per night in off-season, and at least $100 in high season. However, they differ in their increased comfort and the fact that they are mostly located not across the road from the beach, but directly on its side. So, let's look at a few of the most popular ones.

  1. Pinnacle Grand Jomtien in Pattaya is located in the southernmost part of the beach and has direct access to the water. The hotel has 4 stars. Its territory is very large and surrounded by greenery, and the hotel itself consists of eight three-story buildings. All rooms are furnished in a modern style, but with a touch of Thai culture.
  2. Popular among domestic tourists, the Jomtien Palm Beach hotel also has 4 stars. It is quite conveniently located in the very center of the beach, across the road from it. These are two 15-story buildings. It is worth noting that the hotel itself has a bowling alley, billiards and a karaoke bar.

Also, famous and popular hotels near Jomtien Beach include the Eurostar Jomtien Beach Hotel, Botany beach resort 3,

Jomtien Beach is one of the symbols of Pattaya, the longest and probably the most famous. The Jomtien area is popular not only with tourists, winterers and expats, Thais also like to come here on weekends, having picnics in large groups on the sand, on the sidewalk near the beach, or even in the back of a pickup truck parked on Beach Road (the road along the beach). Especially many Thais come to Jomtien on weekends.

At sunset and after dark, in the evenings, it is crowded and quite noisy (although the area is still considered quieter than the center of Pattaya). Music blares outside the Night Market and from jeeps parked along the road. During the season there are many Russian tourists on the beach, especially in the center and south of Jomtien, where hotels and condos popular with compatriots are located.

Jomtien is not the best place for swimming best place, the water is still quite dirty. And there are all sorts of garbage in the sand on the beach. But it’s very convenient to take a walk, sit by the sea, or live nearby. Not as noisy as in the center of Pattaya, there are quiet streets with greenery, all the infrastructure, but at the same time close to everything and public transport runs along the road along the beach.

The length of the beach is about 5 km, unlike many others, it is shaped not like an arc, but like a straight line. The northern part, adjacent to Cape Pratumnak, is more urban and infrastructurally developed. In the southern part it passes into the Na Jomtien region. Behind the hotel, the beach itself fades away into a newly built concrete promenade. Not far from the southern end of Jomtien (even further south), a river flows into the sea.

The water in Jomtien is often yellowish and cloudy. There is garbage. Both organic and plastic. Currents and wind are directed in such a way that everything washes to the shore, and litters in big city quite a few. In addition, trees growing along the beach drop fruits and leaves onto the sand, and they are not always removed on time.

The beach is quite spacious in width, up to 15 m. However, numerous rows with sun loungers eat up the entire space; at high tide, at best there are only a few meters to the water, or even the first row is practically in the surf.

Entering the water, depth and waves

In the season itself, i.e. from November to February, when there are no big waves or low tides, the entry into the water is not too gentle and not too sharp, quite comfortable. True, the water can be cool and even cold. In February-March strong winds from the sea begin to blow. The water is warm, but you can freeze when getting out of the water or even just sitting in the shade. At the same time, from the end of February, the season of strong low tides begins.

The sea goes down several meters, revealing a slightly muddy and dirty bottom, and here and there you can find various marine inhabitants. At low tide it becomes uncomfortable to swim - it’s shallow for a long time, knee-deep, it’s a long way to reach the normal depth and the water is cloudy. The low tide time is not always the same; in the southern part of the beach the tides are more noticeable, in the northern - less.

Sunbeds and shade

All along Jomtien there are many paid sun loungers under umbrellas. Basically, these are also part-time beach cafes; when ordering, food and drinks are brought to the table next to the sun lounger. Some places also offer clothes hangers. Along the entire beach along the sidewalk there are trees that provide shade.

True, during the day good place You will still have to look in natural shade, especially in season, because... there are a lot of people not only wanting to lie on their mat, but also trays with drinks and food, sun loungers that occupy most of the beach. There are spaces free from sun loungers, but Thais often use them for picnics, so there is a lot of small garbage and cigarette butts in the sand.

Also on the sidewalk along the beach there are areas with benches and steps, where you can always sit in the shade during the day. The downside is that it is always quite crowded and not very clean. In addition, along the road, right next to the sidewalk, there are large trash cans that stink very much.

Infrastructure

Along the beach and on the jays (alleys) there are many small Thai shops, cafes, fruit stands, street laundries, etc. Everything you need for both short and long term long stay. In general, this area is loved for its convenience not only by tourists, but also by winterers and expats.

There is approximately in the center of the beach Night market, designed, however, more for tourists. Around there are also shops with tourist assortment, many chain stores 7-Eleven and Family Mart, massage parlors and tours. agencies Large shopping centers not on Jomtien, but get to them by public transport(either to the center of Pattaya or to Sukhumvit) is not difficult.

Jomtien probably has the richest range of beach activities in Pattaya. Jet skis, banana boat rides, parachute rides behind a boat, water skiing, rental of a windsurf, regular board, etc. You can even go hang gliding. Jomtien is conveniently located, close to almost all attractions in Pattaya.

There is a water park next door Pattaya Park with a tower from where you can go down by cable car. Also nearby is Buddha Hill with observation deck. There are many different activities: paid fishing, bungy jumping and much more. In street travel agencies you can inexpensively buy a tour to any attraction not only in Pattaya, but also in neighboring countries.

Houses and hotels on the beach

Along the beach there is a huge variety of housing, from bungalows and villages with expensive villas to high-rise condos and hotels of various levels and price category. In the north, closer to the center of Pattaya, Thappraya Street and Dongtan Beach, there are many tourists from Europe (Scandinavians, Germans, Italians), respectively, there is housing and a cafe tailored specifically for them, with the flags of the corresponding country on the facade. There are large multi-story hotels along the entire beach.

And, of course, there are a lot of condos along the beach and inland.

There are also old, but affordable condominiums, which are also popular among both Russians and Europeans. In the area of Bun Kanchana (Soi Wat Bun) and Chaapryk streets there is a large selection of budget guesthouses and hotels.

In the very south, the beach ends with a hotel, followed by the administrative district of Na Jomtien.

Be sure (and I insist) to check for discounts or special offers on a great service. It will quickly and easily show you discounts in all existing systems reservations. In Asia, for example, there are a lot of offers on Agoda.com, which are much more interesting than for exactly the same hotels on Booking.com.

How to find the beach

Finding Jomtien is not difficult, it is one of the main areas of the city. There is a road running along the entire beach (Beach Rd). At a distance of approximately 400 m from the first beach road there is a second (Second Beach Rd), connected to the first by numerous lanes, jays (soi) they are numbered from 1 to 19 from north to south. The Sukhumvit Highway runs parallel to the coastline at a distance of 1.5 to 3.5 km from the beach and is connected to Beach road by several big streets: Thepprasit in the north, Bun Kanchana (or Soi Wat Bun) and Chaiyapruek in the center and south.

The closest station to Jomtien, where buses from Bangkok and Suvarnabhumi Airport arrive, is located on Thappraya, near its intersection with Thepprasit Street. From there, the northern part of Jomtien is only 900 m away, you can easily walk or take a regular tuk-tuk. True, Jomtien itself is 5 km long, but there are tuk-tuks running along the entire beach in both directions. If you arrived at the North Station or got off at Sukhumvit, you can get to Jomtien by tuk-tuk through the city center with a transfer or take a taxi.

Thus, it is easy to get to Jomtien by your own transport and by taxi from anywhere in the city. Since the beach is very long, you need to figure out in advance which part of Jomtien you want to go to. Taxi drivers, of course, know the city center quite well, if you are looking for a popular hotel or condo, there should be no problems.

Along the entire Jomtien beach, tuk-tuks ply back and forth along the beach road. They work both as a minibus and as a taxi, you have to ask. There are also regular tuk-tuks from the center of Pattaya to Jomtien, departing from the intersection of South and Second Beach streets, on the corner near the school. This place is located 150 meters from Volkin Street, so it’s not difficult to find. In addition, tuk-tuks ply along Thepprasit to Sukhumvit and back. On weekday mornings you can go to Jomtien by tuk-tuks, which are stationed at the intersection of the Second Beach Road with Sukhumvit.
