I will gradually write reviews, but first I will write a negative one. I generally don’t like to write negative reviews, but when a hotel ruins your entire vacation, then excuse me, let people know better what to expect from this hotel.
There is a Russian proverb “they don’t seek goodness from goodness,” but we love to step on a rake. For two years in a row I vacationed at the Chistye Prudy hotel, which belongs to the Velvet Seasons hotel in the city, everything was excellent there, the vacation went with a bang. But no, I wanted some variety, so I decided to book the Catherine Quarter. I think this is also the Velvet Seasons Hotel, it has a good territorial location, located almost on the border with Abkhazia. Why not? It was decided, in my opinion, in April, through national tour operator"Alean" booked a single room, on a higher floor, without a balcony. Alean called me and confirmed everything, all I have to do is wait until September and spend my vacation in peace. There were many plans, but they were not destined to come true.
On September 18, at about 10 o’clock we arrived in the Catherine Quarter, went to the reception, a girl named Yulia took the passport and immediately offered to pay resort fee in the amount of 60 rubles, check your luggage and take a walk. The meeting went quite well. We walked around the territory, it was all well-groomed, clean, the grass was trimmed, there were beautiful figures, so far we really liked everything. The only nuance is that at the reception, unlike Chistye Prudy, there was no coffee, no sofas, none of this, people huddled in small recreation areas. At 2 p.m. I went to Yulia and reminded her about the higher floor and without a balcony, to which she said, building 14, 1st floor, which sounded like a mockery. I asked her to find a higher floor, and oh joy, my favorite is the fifth floor. On the wings of happiness, we rushed to building 15, number 5266. We entered the room and the sharp smell of dust and paint after renovation hit our noses; there was a thick layer of dust on the furniture. I am an allergy sufferer, so I am very sensitive to all smells. But nothing, they opened the loggia as far as possible, hoped that it would get some air and went to see off my friends, had lunch, took a walk and returned to the room. The room is very small, there is no room to turn around where the bed is. Whether the bed is double or single, it’s not entirely clear. The furniture is equipped with parts from different sets, different in color, there is a light bulb in the hallway, it seems to me that they light up toilets in abandoned train stations. The bathroom is small too, the sink is just from some kind of children's set, but there is a mirror that hangs so low that in order to look at yourself or dry your hair, you need to sit on the toilet, otherwise there is no other way to look in the mirror. I would look at all these shortcomings with humor and would not spoil my vacation. But in the evening I began to choke, I needed inhalation, I bought salbutamol at the pharmacy and went back to Yulia. I told her everything, asked her to find a room for me, she was categorical, okay, let's see the first floor. I went to look, the room was without any foreign odors, it was also small, there was no that terrible, completely non-functional balcony, and then I looked into the bathroom. Shock. There is simply no tray or bathtub! And a bunch of all kinds of metal devices. It turns out this is a room for wheelchair users. I returned to Yulia, she said that I was only entitled to either this or this number, there were simply no other options. I asked her, she saw that I was suffocating, but she was completely indifferent and threw up her hands. The hotel was not very full, couldn’t they really find at least one room without dust and without smell after renovation for a person who was really unwell? She offered to pay an additional 1,500 rubles per day and she would transfer me to a double room without a balcony and without smell. Yes, the same girl, when checking in, offered to check in three hours earlier for 1000 rubles, but I refused.
How these six days went, I remember how bad dream. The trash was taken out every day, on the fourth day I went to the reception to ask to be cleaned at least once, they came to change the bed, towels and cleaned up, the room became at least a little cleaner. The soap supplies were not reported at all, and already on the fifth day I met the maid and asked for soap, to which she muttered displeasedly that you have soap, we went into the room and I asked to show it, she pointed to two tiny remnants of soap. And she threw two more bars of soap on top. Also on the second day, I asked to bring a clothes dryer and place it on the balcony, they promised, but did not fulfill it. The balcony is completely awkward, glazed, but also the fence is so high that you can stick out one head; the fence was up to my neck. The bed consists of two pushed together, has one mattress and one headboard from a single bed, but to its credit, the mattress was very comfortable. To get onto the bed, you either need to just jump there like a fish, which is undignified to do at my age, or after hitting yourself a couple of times, you’ll have to adapt to walk sideways to the other side. In general, staying in this hotel is a quest for survival. They smoke throughout the hotel, and not in specially designated areas, the iron is just a song, it’s so small, it barely heats, it’s impossible to iron it properly, and the way it’s secured with a metal rod (so that it doesn’t get stolen), it made me feel like... The engineer has some concerns, what if it breaks and what then? (((
The beach is nearby, from checkpoint 2 it’s exactly a two-minute walk, but it’s another 8 minutes across the hotel grounds. There is another checkpoint, but there you end up on an unkempt beach and you have to walk along some stream.
On the territory of the EC there are cafes, canteens, a first-aid post, a nice playground for children, and outdoor exercise equipment. The territory is looked after, the grass is constantly cut and watered, you won’t see trash anywhere there. Those who deserve praise are those workers who work in the open area of the hotel.
I wrote about maids and cleaning only about building 15; I can’t say anything about the rest. And this is three stars? I got the impression that they were simply mocking vacationers there and that I was put in a promotional room.
Bottom line. The hotel is 50/50. As much as I liked the area, I didn’t like the room, the complete callousness of the girl at the reception and the maid on the fifth floor. An asthma attack is terrible, and in this hotel I experienced them every day. The holiday was completely ruined, one consolation was that I had to stay in the center of Adler for three days on business and booked a hotel there. I haven’t left more than one hotel with such great joy; I just wanted to run away from the EC as quickly as possible, which I did on September 24th.

Great place in Adler. Most clean beach overlooking mountainous Abkhazia. The territory is large, beautiful and well-groomed, the infrastructure is convenient. I liked having lunch at Aquatoria. There is a first aid station on site; I even had to go to it because I felt unwell due to hypothermia after the heat - it helped a lot. The room is quite new and clean. The staff is friendly.

The hotel is the former place of residence for volunteers at the Olympics. Accordingly, it looks more like a boarding house: there are many identical buildings (you walk as if on an ordinary street). Paid sunbeds on the beach, no Sberbank ATM on site, high prices for extra food.

A good standard room, everything worked, the linens were snow-white, they were in good condition. Elevator, solid. Breakfast is better than in Turkey 4*. Discounts from the hotel for visiting Sochi Park. Rare exotic plants on the territory, lawns and a reverent attitude towards them. Good parking. Bicycle rental (the most optimal way to travel distances to objects).

At checkpoint No. 1 they cannot clearly explain how to check in and how to enter. There were remnants of something on the pillowcase... There weren't enough cups and coffee for breakfast - 1 day. There is no normal entrance to the sea, rocks and a steep shore. It was impossible to swim in the sea 6 days out of 8 with the sun shining (storm, crazy current with floating logs - I’ve never seen anything like this anywhere at sea, as if they were opening a dam somewhere). Rescuers forbade entry into the sea. The website says that 3 km to the Olympic and Sochi parks. Walking is a bit difficult. Only by car or public transport spotted on the navigator - all 5.5 km. I won’t go to the hotel again, because of the sea and the beach.

Compared to the summer of 2014, water and slippers have disappeared. Linen changes and room cleaning have become less frequent. Lack of own sun loungers on the beach. In 2014 they were free. The price has increased :(

New buildings, bright room, closed guarded area. Everything worked in the room (TV, split - set for heating). Convenient location close to stops. You can calmly take a leisurely walk to Sochi Park (slowly 30-35 minutes) along the embankment or take a minibus in 5-7 minutes. Overall, I liked the hotel - the price/quality ratio is optimal.

Quite a meager choice of buffet (perhaps out of season) - the food was heated (or cooked) the same for breakfast and dinner (we did not have lunch at the hotel).

In principle, everything is at the expected proper level. Good breakfast (buffet), polite, non-intrusive staff, cozy and clean courtyard. The single room is small, but has everything you need. Wi-Fi on the fifth floor was always available, the signal was strong and the speed was good. The beach is large and very close. Transport stops in the immediate vicinity of the hotel. I was there during the Formula 1 stage and even at that time there weren’t many people, in my opinion this is a plus.

The only thing that didn't please me was the occasional smell of sewage in the bathroom. It is also worth mentioning that as of October 2014 there is no appropriate infrastructure near the hotel - you need to walk about 500 meters to a pharmacy, store, cafe.

Everything is just great! The rooms are clean. The staff is polite, all issues are resolved promptly. 300 meters to the beach. the beach is clean. Wi-Fi in the rooms. I really liked it. I'll definitely come next year.

Well-kept area, rooms are new and clean. The room has a refrigerator, TV, hair dryer. The staff is up to par. Children's playground, bicycle rental (150 rubles per hour). There are shops nearby. 200 meters to the sea. Embankment for walks. Meals at a nearby hotel :)

Good wifi, normal buffet breakfast. Quiet protected area. Availability of an elevator. Proximity to the sea and your own beach with sun loungers. Clean sea and beach. Well suited for a seaside holiday.

No cooler, no mosquito nets on the windows. The air conditioner hangs directly above the bed - it blows. Not very high quality repair. Empty minibar. Bicycle rental in off-season was reduced by an hour (until 21.00). There is little greenery on the territory. Cold heated towel rail.

Catherine's Quarter is a separate hotel complex, which is part of the hotel city "Velvet Seasons".

The hotel has an advantageous location close to major transport hubs: Adler railway station and international airport Sochi is 15-20 minutes away. Its own beach area, 5 km long, will delight guests who want to spend a comfortable vacation on the landscaped coast of Imereti Bay.

In the Catherine Quarter you can book apartments with a kitchen, which is important for families with children, as well as those for whom cooking their own meals is important.

The closest distance to the beach is 100 m. This distance may be greater depending on the distance of your particular building.

“Velvet Seasons Catherine Quarter” has a developed infrastructure and a significant range of services offered. The territory where the hotel complex is located is a picturesque landscape with rare species of vegetation from the subtropics. The Ornithological Park is within walking distance from the hotel.
