Beaches on Hua Hin in Thailand

The beaches of this resort are conditionally divided into three parts: central, northern and southern.

Central Hua beach Hin is noisier and has a lot of entertainment for tourists, as well as housing there are less problems, since there are a lot of hotels in the central part. Northern and southern part more suitable for fans of a relaxing holiday

Zone of the central city beach

The central beach starts from the Hilton hotel, the duration of the beach is more than two kilometers, the easiest way to find the beach is to follow Damnernkasen Rd. The people on the beach hang out around the clock, because the infrastructure of the beach is developed here at the highest level. There are also shops, cafes and other entertainment.

South City Beach Zone

The beach area originates from the foot of Khao Takiab mountain (there is a temple and viewpoint). The beach is quite narrow, and there are not so many people here, unlike the central beach, in some places you can get straight into the water directly from the steps of the hotels. The beach is designed for a relaxing holiday.

North City Beach Zone

The northern beach area starts from the fishing pier and ends near the airport. This is a clean, spacious and uncrowded beach, a great place for a relaxing holiday. Near the beach there is the Royal Palace of Hua Hin, every evening soldiers march near the beach, and military boats keep watch in the sea, thanks to which the beach is considered the safest in Hua Hin.

Video: Royal Residence Hua Hin Thailand

Our Reader Sergei Malinin talks about Hua Hin, one of his favorite cities in Thailand. This resort is very fond of Europeans, but Russian tourists pay much less attention to it than to Pattaya or Phuket. And very in vain!

Hua Hin is a city on the coast of the Gulf of Thailand, three hours south of Bangkok. Like many cities in Thailand, located on the coast of the sea, Hua Hin - tourist centre with thousands of tourists. But it differs markedly from other beach resorts in the country: Thais consider it almost the most bohemian holiday destination in the kingdom.

About Hua Hin and Thai love for everything European

I came to Hua Hin Koh Samui(more about this island and its beaches - on my website Turpotok.com). And the first thing I noticed the difference between the resorts is unusual for Thailand order on the roads: traffic lights are installed at the intersections, the traffic flow moves in an orderly manner, without chaotic rebuilding, and there are even traffic controllers on some streets. This is not typical for a country where people do not drive according to the rules of the road, but according to unwritten laws. And it is quite surprising that there are practically no macarons on the streets of the city(mobile carts on which street food is prepared and sold). Usually the roadsides in Thailand are full of these carts, but in Hua Hin they are very rare.

Hua Hin is the most civilized resort in Thailand. It catches your eye as soon as you enter this city.

The second thing that distinguishes Hua Hin from most cities is the atmosphere: the famous Thai arrogance and indifference are less common here, in tourist districts there is much less unbridledness. Hua Hin is somehow stricter with morals and in general the atmosphere is more cultured, I would say.

Thirdly, imitation is noticeable in the city European style , especially in the design of facades and the design of shopping centers. This is also quite unusual for Thailand. As a rule, the urban architecture in the kingdom is monotonous and nondescript, and the view of the buildings is neglected.

But still, this is Thailand. Therefore, bikers without a helmet and advertisements for strong alcohol coexist with the order on the roads here.

All these features have a logical explanation: Hua Hin is the summer residence of the King of Thailand. Hence the order in the city, and attempts to decorate it in accordance with the privileged status. The king once chose this city because of the climate: in Hua Hin, the heat is easier to tolerate. Following the king, his entourage and nobility began to come here to rest. The city has become a resort for wealthy gentlemen. This aristocracy is still felt today.

Imitation of the European style arose in Thailand even earlier: about 150 years ago, the then king unlearned in Europe, from where he came with the appropriate manners and tastes. At first, he forcibly planted a new culture in his native country, and subsequently everything European began to be perceived as a kind of standard of style and beauty. Something similar was observed in Russia during the time of Pushkin, when "French" was synonymous with "beautiful". It is difficult for me to judge whether modern Thais treat the European style with the same reverence as their ancestors, but they do not hide their curiosity and sympathy: I have seen them enthusiastically photographed with a Christmas tree or, for example, against the backdrop of buildings in Greek style.

Hua Hin became so "European" that a small "branch" of the famous was built in the vicinity of the city.

In the second half of the last century, reviews of Hua Hin as the most "Europeanized" resort in Thailand reached Europe. Tourists from the Old World flocked here in droves: some to rest, some to winter, and for many Hua Hin has become a new home. The inhabitants of Northern Europe especially fell in love with this city, and the suburb of Hua Hin Cha Am is considered a branch of Scandinavia. It is not surprising that renting and selling housing (both condos and private houses) in Hua Hin and Cha Am is considered a very profitable job, which everyone here tries to do.

Summary: my reviews of Hua Hin and general impressions of the city

Hua Hin is really an unusual resort by Thai standards: unusually civilized and culturally developed. The beaches in it, of course, cannot be compared with the island ones, but on the other hand, they are much better than. But the city has something to compensate for the insufficiently picturesque coast: natural and man-made attractions in it are enough for two weeks of a rich and varied holiday. So I would recommend the city to those who do not like to lie on the beach all day, but prefer educational excursions, trips to picturesque places, hiking in nature, hiking to waterfalls and caves.

Not many tourists know that the first official seaside resort Thailand once became a quiet town on the shores of the Gulf of Thailand called Hua Hin. Today it favorite place rest of the royal couple with a beautiful beach, surrounded by lush tropical forests, some of which are declared protected areas.

General information

In 1922, King Rama VI decided to build himself a country residence. To do this, he chose a quiet fishing village, which in those days was called Samore Riang, which means "Rocky Line". The new palace was given the name Klai Kangwon (Klai Kangwon - Far from the bustle), which fully justified its serenity and solitude. Following the king, his nobility followed him to the village, and soon the provincial town turned into a prestigious area designed for a relaxing and respectable holiday. In 1934, the fishing village and adjacent resort was renamed Hua Hin, which means "Stone Head".

Climate

The mild climate of Hua Hin allows you to enjoy holidays in this region, almost all year round.

As in all of Thailand, there are three seasons in Hua Hin:

  1. Rainy (June - October). Compared to other regions, the rainy season here is the least pronounced, while September is the wettest month of the year. Usually these are rare short showers, sometimes with thunderstorms, which only please with their appearance and do not interfere with rest at all.
  2. Cool (November - February). At the same time, January is characterized by the “coldest” weather in Hua Hin. At this time, the temperature sometimes drops as much as +18°С, and the largest tourist flow is observed in the region.
  3. Hot (March - May). The peak temperature is in May (+ 39°С).

Geography

Hua Hin District western province Prachuab Khiri Khan of Thailand. The city is located on the shores of the Gulf of Thailand, 240 kilometers from Bangkok, and covers an area of 86 km², and its surroundings - 839 km². On a magnificent high-speed road, the journey from the capital to the resort takes no more than 2.5 hours.

Population

The population of Hua Hin is about 100 thousand people. Among them, you can often meet expats from all over the world and tourists - more often Europeans, there are also Russians, but very few. The basis of the local residents are Thais who profess Buddhism. Also here you can meet Burmese who come to Hua Hin to work.

Nature and landscape

It was not in vain that the king chose Hua Hin for his country residence. A beautiful beach and clear sea, surrounded by picturesque hills covered with jungle, create an idyllic picture heavenly place where you can enjoy a relaxing holiday all day long.

Time in Hua Hin

Difference with Moscow: + 3 hours

UTC in Hua Hin, as in Bangkok: UTC +7

Language

The main language in Hua Hin is Thai. Due to the large number of tourists from Europe, you can often hear English, German, French speech here, but locals use English to communicate with tourists. There are few Russian tourists in Hua Hin, so the Russian language is rarely heard. Without knowledge of English, it will be difficult to communicate with anyone here.

Orientation

Geographically, the resort is divided by the main streets:

  • Petchkasem Road is the main urban highway that runs along the coast.
  • Damnoenkasem Road crosses Pechkasem Road in the city center and leads directly to Hua Hin's main beach.

Recreation features

Although the official residence of the king is the Royal Palace in Bangkok, Rama IX prefers Klai Kangwon's apartment in Hua Hin to him. Today, this city is a quiet and peaceful place where wealthy Thais and respectable foreigners rest.

Hua Hin traditionally competes with Pattaya for the right to be the best beach resort near Bangkok. Although it would be wrong to compare these two cities, they are so strikingly different from each other. Hua Hin has a relatively clean sea and beach, although not the same as on the islands, but much cleaner than in Pattaya. People come here for a relaxing beach holiday with their families, away from the bustle and noise of the capital. There is no such vibrant nightlife as in Pattaya, and therefore lovers of such entertainment will be bored here.

Features of life in Hua Hin

The infrastructure of Hua Hin is somewhat less developed than, for example, in Phuket or Pattaya. However, the relative proximity to Bangkok completely solves some of the problems. There is a large selection of accommodation, including many options for long-term residence of foreigners, but it is better to rent it until August, since vacations for Europeans begin in October, and that’s all best options are booked until January.

There are quite a lot of kindergartens, schools and universities in Hua Hin where you can get a good education, the only thing that is required for this is a good knowledge of English language.

Transport

Public transport in the city is represented primarily by songteo. They follow certain routes. The cost of the trip is 10 baht. It is better to negotiate the fare in a tuk-tuk in advance. However, sometimes a songthaew can ride like a taxi and then the minimum fare can be 100-200 baht.

Regardless of the distance, the cost of a taxi ride in Hua Hin will start from 200 baht. There are no classic taxi meters there, and the price must be negotiated in advance. A cheaper, but less comfortable alternative to taxi rides can be motorcycle or bicycle taxis.

And yet it is most convenient and cheapest to travel around Hua Hin on your own transport. The city has a large number of offices for renting motorbikes or bicycles.

Beaches

The only beach of the city, Hat Hua Hin, stretches for 5 kilometers from the south to the rocky cape. The sea is relatively clear and White sand, however, during high tides, most of the beach tends to be completely hidden under water.

Near the city, but officially outside of it, there is another great beach overlooking the Khao Takiab rock. Even further away is the Thai army beach, Suan Son, it is also open to everyone.

There are always a lot of sunbeds and umbrellas on the city beach. Sometimes they charge a fee of 100 baht. Some sunbeds belong to coastal cafes, which provide them free of charge only to their customers.

Food

Hua Hin has a lot of cafes and restaurants. Establishments located on the beach or on Khao Takiap are mainly focused on tourists, and, accordingly, have more high prices. On the Pechkasem highway you can find more democratic cafes. For example, on Naresdamri Road there are several restaurants with good prices and beautiful sea views.

In addition to traditional Thai, city restaurants offer a wide selection of European, Japanese and Indian cuisine.

You can have a cheap meal in the 24-hour markets or in the Tesco shopping complex. There, having given about 25-45 bases per serving, you can have a wonderful and satisfying lunch. On top of this, there are 119 establishments in Hua Hin, they are also BBQ Thai buffet, which are a huge Buffet from ready meals or semi-finished products. The cost of one serving is 119 baht.

Accommodation in Hua Hin

The city has a large selection of hotels and guesthouses, especially in the central part of the city. Due to the fact that the resort is preferred mainly by the wealthy public, it is dominated by the offer of medium and high-class accommodation, costing from 2000 baht per night. It is possible to stay cheap (within 300 baht / day) here, but every year it becomes more and more difficult, especially in the high season.

In addition to hotel accommodation in Hua Hin, there is a large offer of individual housing of various levels. It can be condos (apartments), and large houses with their own garden and swimming pool. Renting a house by the sea is usually from 20,000 baht per month. But, basically, here you can rent a small house for 15,000 baht per month, with one bedroom and a kitchen, 15-30 minutes walk from the sea.

The offer of condos in Hua Hin is also very diverse, but compared to Pattaya, it is very small. Here you can rent both studios for 15,000-20,000 baht, and large apartments with several bedrooms in a high-rise condominium on the beach. Such accommodation can cost from 30,000 baht per month.

Attractions

In addition to the main beach, there are several other interesting sights in Hua Hin and its environs. The surrounding areas are rich in natural parks, offering breathtaking views of sea cliffs, picturesque hills and emerald jungles. Among them, the eleven-tiered Palau waterfall carries its waters among rainforest, which is home to many beautiful birds and butterflies. Or national park Roi Yot itself is famous for its mangrove swamps and limestone mountains. Rare species of birds live here. The natural attractions of the city are complemented by various architectural monuments, the largest of which are considered to be the temple Big Buddha and, of course, the summer Royal Palace.

Entertainment

The sea, the beach and the tropical sun are the number one attraction in Hua Hin, as numerous tourist brochures keep talking about. But apart from beach holiday, the city offers its guests wide selection activities and entertainment that can diversify your vacation. Separately, it is worth noting that the nightlife of the resort is quiet and serene. Therefore, lovers of noisy parties will obviously be bored here. This place is more suitable for tourists who want a relaxing holiday or couples with children.

Golf

This game is very popular in Hua Hin, where there are several excellent world-class golf courses. Most golf clubs offer free shuttle service to their clients.

SPA and massage

Due to the specifics of the public visiting Hua Hin, the beauty industry is well developed here. There are many salons in the city offering high-quality spa treatments and massages for the most demanding taste. Masters use both traditional Thai techniques and the achievements of modern science.

walks

Hiking and cycling are also quite popular in Hua Hin. Quiet traffic, smooth urban landscape are conducive to leisurely and leisurely travel.

Training courses

Lessons in silk weaving, basket weaving, pottery and embroidery are offered in abundance in the city. Also, everyone can comprehend the secrets of Thai cuisine at numerous culinary courses.

Prices in Hua Hin

If we compare prices in Hua Hin with the prices of other tourist regions of Thailand, then, on average, they are slightly higher, but relative to Europe, they remain moderate.

The cost of renting housing here is also higher, as the offer of high-level apartments prevails. For example, Double Room, for two weeks, at the beginning of the high season in a five-star hotel will cost from 80,000 baht. The lowest price level is within 2000 baht per day for a single room.

The shops

      • Hypermarket Makro Cash&Carry - wholesale and retail trade. It is located in the northern part of the city at the intersection of Petchkasem Road and Soi 4.
      • market village. Large shopping complex united under its roof a lot of shops of various orientations. There is underground parking and a children's room where you can leave your child. It is located in the central part of the city, at the intersection of Pechkasem and Soi 88/2. All floors of the center are occupied by shoe, clothing, perfumery stores, restaurants, a food court, small eateries, bank branches and currency exchangers. On the 1st floor there is Tesco Lotus (there is another Tesco in the south of the city on Pechkasem, opposite Soi 112) and pharmacies. On the 2nd and 3rd floors - Home Pro hypermarket, children's shops, bowling, cinema.
      • POWER BUY - Large shopping center home appliances and electronics. Address: junction of Pechkasem Road and Soi 88.
      • Iindex living mall - a chain store similar to Ikea. Located on Pechkasem between Soi 23 and 25.

How to get there

Hua Hin is located on the Thai mainland, so getting to it is not that difficult, especially from Bangkok. You can choose the most convenient option. If you are traveling to Hua Hin from other cities in Thailand, read all about intercity communication and domestic flights Old railway station in Hua Hin

The train station is located right in the center of the city, so getting here by train is very convenient. A significant disadvantage is the slow trains from Bangkok, which is why a relatively short distance is covered in 5 or 6 hours. Compensates for the slowness of the train cheap tickets - from 44 to 100 baht.

By bus

To Hua Hin, buses from Bangkok depart every 20 minutes from the Sai Tai Mai terminal. Ticket price from 175 baht. The journey will take approximately 3.5 hours.

Taxi

From the capital to the resort of Hua Hin can be reached by taxi. The cost of the trip should be negotiated in advance. With the ability to bargain, you can bring down the price to 2500 baht. From the Airport, the price of the trip will be higher. A taxi from Pattaya will cost a little more - 3000-3500 baht.

Cellular and Internet

In Hua Hin, as well as throughout Thailand, it is better and cheaper to use the services of local operators, which are represented here by three companies: 1-2-Call, TrueMove and DACT Happy. The city has access points to the Internet via ADSL and wi-fi, although most tourists complain about the actual low speed.

The medicine

Thailand has long been famous for its high level of medicine and Hua Hin is no exception. Many tourists even come here specifically to improve their health, and some women choose Hua Hin clinics for childbirth. The city has three large international hospitals.

1. San Paulo, located on Pechkasem Road, near the Grand Market store.

This hospital is under the patronage of Her Highness the Queen. You can communicate with the staff here in English. The cost of admission is from 800 baht. The clinic cooperates with a large number of insurance companies, so you can apply here for insurance.

Branches:

  • pediatrics;
  • maternity hospital;
  • surgery (including plastic);
  • traumatology;

2. Hua Hin Hospital is also located on Pechkasem Road, but at the beginning of the city.

This is a general clinic with a large number of departments. English is not spoken here, but a free translator is provided. The cost of admission starts from 500 baht. Long lines in the morning.

3. Bangkok International Hua Hin Hospital (Bangkok International Hua Hin Hospital), located at the intersection of Pechkasem Road and Soi 94. It is distinguished by increased prices (the cost of admission is from 1000 baht). The staff speaks English.

In addition to three large clinics in the suburbs of Hua Hin, there are several other small hospitals:

  • Petcharat Hospital - Famous for the excellent quality of services provided. They usually come here for serious problems.
  • Tranarat Hospital (Tranarat-Hospital). Military hospital, distinguished by highly qualified specialists. The staff only speaks Thai. There are no translators. The cost of admission is from 50 baht.

In addition to hospitals, Hua Hin has many private practitioners of a wide variety of profiles. The cost of admission they start from 300 baht.

Safety

Perhaps Hua Hin is one of the most safe resorts Thailand. This is largely due to the fact that the royal couple spends a lot of time here, and with them all the nobility of Thailand. Therefore, the police are keeping order with special care. There is practically no prostitution and noisy bars with drunken tourists. Most visitors are guests from Europe of venerable age. However, this is not a reason to lose vigilance and leave your belongings, money and documents unattended.

There are no particular natural hazards in Hua Hin. Here, as elsewhere in the kingdom, you can meet a jellyfish in the sea or an unpleasant insect in the jungle. Therefore, the understanding that Thailand is a country with a tropical nature, which can sometimes present an unpleasant surprise to an inattentive tourist, will definitely not hurt anyone.

Some visitors to Hua Hin note the large number of dogs in the region. Basically, the animals sleep imposingly stretched out in the shade, but sometimes they can bark at pedestrians passing by. Some people find this annoying, but it shouldn't be shown. It is better to calmly, not paying attention to the insolent dogs, follow your own path.

Hotels in Hua Hin, where to stay?

The map below contains accommodation options from all major booking services, so you can easily find the right hotel for yourself and book it online right there.

2013-08-14

The charming, tranquil resort of Hua Hin attracts tourists with its clean sandy beaches, pineapple groves and crystal clear sea. This place is the oldest resort in Thailand, as was already known in 1920. Thanks to the well-developed tourist infrastructure, high level of service and picturesque landscapes, the resort is very popular. There is practically no nightlife here, so holidays in Hua Hin are perfect for couples with children or older tourists.

Hua Hin on the map of Thailand

Hua Hin is located 280 kilometers from Bangkok. Geographically, the resort is located on the opposite side of the famous Pattaya. On the map you can see that the resort consists of two islands connected by a bridge. In Hua Hin, two main streets stand out - the Petchkasem highway, which runs along the coast, as well as Damnoenkasem street.

Hua Hin Hotels

The accommodation of tourists in Hua Hin is mostly represented by hotels, the prices for rooms in which are considered slightly higher than in other resorts of the country. Despite this, you can always find inexpensive room in local hostels and guesthouses which, unfortunately, are not many. Most of the hotels are located along coastline, but there are also those that are located at a decent distance from the beaches.

It is worth noting that Hua Hin is a popular place for wintering, as a rule, many people come here for several months. Therefore, there is always the possibility of renting housing, which can be done at home via the Internet, or you can already be on vacation in Hua Hin. The latter option is much more convenient, you can immediately examine several options on the spot and choose the most suitable one.

Hua Hin beaches

Perhaps the main advantages of all the beaches of the resort are their not crowded, cleanliness and tranquility.

City Beach, which has a total length of almost 6 kilometers, is distinguished by clean white sand and shallow coastal waters. The main entrance to the beach is in lane 61 soi. The only McDonald's in Hua Hin will help you navigate.

On the way to the beach, tourists can visit the open market, where you can buy everything that will make your stay on the beach more comfortable, from swimwear to air mattresses and umbrellas.

Various cafes and eateries are scattered throughout the beach, where you can always eat delicious food and enjoy soft drinks. lovers active rest will be able to ride on bananas and water scooters.

Kao Takiab beach located just behind the monkey mountain, at which the city beach ends. The sand on this beach is black, which is not very attractive for foreign tourists. Thanks to this, prices here are much lower for both food and water activities. The beach area is quite shady and spacious.

Suan son– a magnificent, almost wild beach, located on the territory military base famous for its scenic beauty. Here is the kingdom of age-old pines and peaceful silence. It is better to take food and beach mats with you. On weekends, the situation changes dramatically, as the beach is filled with locals who love to relax here with their children.

Sai Noi beach considered a real gem among the surrounding beaches. A small cozy lagoon, surrounded on both sides by picturesque mountains. On one of the hills rises an ancient temple and a statue of a seated Buddha made of gold. Relaxing on this beach, you can perfectly combine swimming with a visit to such an ancient shrine, where you can climb the stairs.

Attractions Hua Hin

The main attraction of the resort can safely be called its provincial atmosphere, which enchants and makes you forget about the hustle and bustle. But there is indeed interesting places for visiting. For example, Hua Hin Railway Station is considered the most beautiful building in Thailand.

It was the construction of the station that allowed the city to develop and become what it is today. One of the features of the station is that at the beginning of the 20th century, the Royal Waiting Room was erected next to the main building, where members of the royal family spent time waiting for the train.

Temple Wat Ampharam

This temple is the main shrine of Hua Hin. The temple is not a masterpiece of religious architecture, it is quite an ordinary building. However, its practical use is very important. Wat Ampharam is at once a monastery, a temple, a cemetery and a crematorium.

Every visitor can visit the temple, regardless of what faith he belongs to. Every morning near the temple, monks in saffron or red robes accept donations from the residents.

Hua Hin Safari & Adventure Park

A few kilometers from the center of the resort there is a beautiful amusement park, which also known as the elephant village. Visitors can ride quad bikes, ride a horse, play paintball, and watch a snake and crocodile show. However, the main highlight of the park are the elephants.

Young elephants play the harmonica, paint and massage. Also, anyone can ride an elephant, but it is worth noting that this pleasure is expensive.

Sam Roi Yot National Park

It will be interesting to visit this place both big and small, as the park includes several interesting sights at once. It was founded in the 60s of the last century and covers an impressive area of 98 square kilometers. On its territory there are caves, mountains, beaches, temples, and of course, magnificent exotic flora and fauna.

It would be better if you set aside 2-3 days to visit the park. To explore it, you can rent a vehicle, as the park itself is located 50 kilometers from Hua Hin. However, if desired, this can be done with a group of tourists by purchasing a tour.

The resort is little studied by our compatriots. But despite this, tourists believe that this is a great place for family vacation, as well as people who are tired of the hustle and bustle of popular resorts in Thailand. However, there are also disadvantages - without knowledge of English, it will be difficult for you to communicate with the local population or hotel staff.

Read - the unknown pearl of Thailand. Overview of the beaches and natural attractions of the resort.

We have collected all the information about Phuket Airport. Come in and apply.

On the page you will learn how coconut is useful and its calorie content, as well as instructions for opening the fruit.

There are no problems with food, local cafes and restaurants offer a wide selection of dishes of both local and European cuisines. Many of the catering establishments have night buffets where you can not only eat, but also enjoy the performance of classical Thai dance.

As in other cities of exotic countries, in Hua Hin you should behave very carefully. Especially when visiting various crocodile and snake farms, where for greater safety it is better to avoid feeding and other contact with their inhabitants.
