Map of King's Harbor. Game of Thrones - King's Landing

King's Landing

King's Landing- capital of the Seven Kingdoms, largest city Westeros. He is on east coast mainland - in the Royal Lands, on the northern bank of the Chernovodnaya River near the mouth. Once upon a time, it was at this place that Aegon I Targaryen landed with a small army and three dragons.

The small wooden fortress of Aegonfort, built by the conquering king on a hill above the bay, eventually gave way to the majestic Red Keep, from where the kings of Westeros rule the empire, sitting on the Iron Throne. Over time, a huge, overpopulated and rather foul-smelling city with rich estates of the nobility and the dirty slums of Flea Bottom, many markets, workshops, taverns and brothels, grew up around the castle. In the capital's port there are ships from all over Westeros, from the Free Cities and countries of the East. Order in the city is protected by the city guard - golden cloaks.

Geography

King's Landing was founded by Aegon the Conqueror at the point where the Blackwater River flows into Blackwater Bay. Chernovodnaya at the mouth is a wide and deep river with a fast current, which local residents called treacherous and treacherous. Twenty warships can sail abreast along the river past the city walls. Although several important roads with constant traffic approach the city from the south, there are no bridges across Chernovodnaya, only boat crossings. In the east, Chernovodnaya Bay opens into the Narrow Sea.

South of the city, across the river, lies the Royal Forest, a large forested area extending far to the south and east into the Stormlands. These are royal hunting grounds, where monarchs can go for several days for the sake of hunting; but robbers and poachers are hiding there; Once upon a time there lived a famous gang - the Brotherhood of the Royal Forest. Several large roads lead to the city: the Royal Highway, coming from the Stormlands, and the Rose Road connecting to it approach Blackwater from the south, and continues to the north of the city, going into Riverlands and further to the North, to Winterfell and the Wall. Golden Road, leading to the Western Lands, to Lannisport and Casterly Rock, leaves the city to the west.

Inside the city

The city, built on the northern bank of the river, is located on three hills, which to this day bear the names of Aegon himself and his two sisters: Aegon's Hill, Visenya's Hill and Rhaenys' Hill. Seven Tower Red Castle - royal residence- is located on the highest of the three hills, Aegon's Hill in the eastern part of the city. Inside, the castle is entangled in a network of secret passages and tunnels, some of which open into the city.

On Visenyi Hill in the southeastern part of the city is the main temple of the country dedicated to the Seven - the Great Sept of Baelor. It also has seven “crystal” bell towers, which can be seen from afar. The third hill, Rhaenys Hill, occupies the huge, grimy and partially collapsed building of the Dragonpit: in the past, when the fire-breathing Targaryen dragons had not yet become extinct, they were kept in this building.

At the base of Reinis Hill are the poorest, slum areas of the city - Flea Bottom; its narrow streets are unpaved, and the houses are so close that they almost touch each other. Apart from the more or less wide Flour Street, this area is a labyrinth of crooked alleys and cross streets; Because of the numerous pigsties, stables, dyehouses and distilleries, there is a constant stench here. On the other side of Reinis Hill, near the northern Old Gate, on the contrary, are the most prestigious and wealthy areas where the nobility live. No less famous are the city's brothels (the most famous of which is the Cathai brothel) and the quarter of pyromancers - alchemists who produce weapons of extraordinary destructive power - wild fire, located at the foot of Reinis Hill).

There are seven gates in the city wall that surrounds the perimeter of the city. Each of them is protected by a portcullis, heavy doors and guarded by armed guards.

The river gate, popularly known as the Dirty Gate, opens to the port: there are about a hundred berths here, where mainly merchant ships unload, both those that came along the river from the interior of the continent, and those that came from other parts of the country and other countries. Between the piers and the city wall is a huge fish market, flowing into another slum area of makeshift huts. To the southwest of the city, just outside the Royal Gate and the fortress wall, is the tournament field.

TV series

In the series, the role of King's Landing was played by the cities of Mdina (Malta) in the first season and Dubrovnik (Croatia) in the second and third.

Royal Harbor of the North of Great Britain - Edinburgh

Edinburgh is the northern port of Great Britain. The mouth of the Bay/River Forth flows into the North Sea here. Lith, where we will go and where the royal floating residence (now a museum) is moored, is the historic port of Edinburgh, which for centuries traded with Baltic countries: Scandinavia and Holland.

In 1560 the port of Lith he had to withstand the attack and siege of the Scots and the English then allied with them.

The 18-year-old widow Mary Stuart arrived at the port of Leath on August 19, 1561 after her 13-year absence from Scotland. But upon arrival, she discovered that no one was waiting for her, no one was meeting her... The next day, Earl Murray, Regent of Scotland, Mary’s half-brother, arrived to escort her to Edinburgh with honor, but the solemn procession did not work out. But more about Maria Stuart on the tour!

But another king of the Hanoverian line, George IV, was greeted in a more royal manner, on August 15, 1822. The king's ship, the Royal George, arrived in the Firth of Forth on Wednesday 14 August, but heavy rain delayed the king's departure until the next day, 15 August, when George IV. in his naval uniform, he stepped off the ramp of his ship onto the shore along a red carpet strewn with flowers!

What we will see:

— Yacht "Britannia" served the royal family faithfully for 44 years. The yacht made 989 official cruises, including the only visit of Queen Elizabeth II. Russia at the invitation of Boris Yeltsin. On this yacht Prince Charles and Diana spent their honeymoon and young princes William and Harry frolicked there.

On the yacht you will see a lot of interesting things: the queen’s living room, the members’ bedrooms royal family, laundry, ironing, motor, sailors' floor, hospital, captain's cabin and even a parked royal Rolls-Royce. " Britannia is the 83rd and last royal yacht. At the time of its construction in 1954, it was considered the latest technology. But that was in 1954 (!) not now. The interiors will obviously make you smile.

*Optional - after all royal stories We will dine at the most famous and port seafood restaurant (there is no better specialty restaurant in Edinburgh) with a picturesque view of the sea and the lighthouse.

After lunch, we will go to Queensferry - a historical maritime town - Queen Margaret's Queen's Ferry (12th century). If you wish, we will take a boat ride along Forth Bay and learn the history famous railway bridge, greet the fur seals from board, look at the adjacent islands and bird “farms”.

Your photos will be magnificent on this day: both in the royal harbor of Lith andagainst the backdrop of the majestic 1.6 km long railway and road bridges across Forth Bay.

The red, steel railway bridge opened in 1890. The road bridge next door was the largest suspension bridge outside the United States until 1964. Another one is being built nearby.

- At the end of the day: a visit to the famous "hall" of Lewis Stevenson in a pub and hotel: The Hawes Inn with excellent ales, in which Robert Louis Stevenson wrote one of the chapters of his famous novel "Kidnapped". The hotel still keeps the room as it was when Stevenson stayed there while waiting for the ferry.

Sea, open spaces + royal charm will turn your day into a real discovery, an exciting journey through time and space!

I stay in touch and wait for your orders by email! Thank you.

The first and most important thing is that I never received an answer, but I would really like to! There is a farm on site, let's say a mini farm. When we arrived there was a goat and a small lamb, the child immediately rushed to pet them, the lamb looked strange (he was breathing heavily, coughing as if he was choking, staggering) it was obvious that he was sick... a day later the lamb disappeared and it turned out that he had died.... I didn’t receive an answer to my question to the staff about what happened to him! My child was petting this lamb, but it wasn’t until the first minute that they realized that he was sick! I think it's simply irresponsible to keep animals for fun... if you're going to run a mini farm, do it right! In the end, your children are trying to get to him and you have to find out what he was sick with!!! What if he has rabies?! I'm actually looking forward to a full clarification in the review response! The lamb was removed, they put hares or rabbits in a pen, it’s not clear whether someone else lived there before, how often do your animals die? I’m curious? It seems to me that you need to seriously think about whether it’s worth doing something that you don’t know how to do... Regarding the rest, it’s probably not that important compared to a sick animal on the territory that is within the reach of children, but I’ll write my opinion: In a room without shower, but there is no hot water with the toilet, ice pours from the tap, your hands are cramping, is it really difficult to install a small boiler for 10-15 liters, it’s impossible to even wash your face. They turned off the power from lunch until the evening, I don’t know how often this happens, but there is no water... so-so story ((The dishes are not washed in the dishwasher, the forks and spoons are greasy with a coating, this is not very pleasant. In general, if you feed people , you must wash dishes in a PMM. Everything can be survived in general, but it seems to me that the safety of children’s health and sanitation determines the level of the place and the people who run this place.... I’m waiting for information on your lamb’s illness!

Baikal is close, the child can walk to the beach and back. The beach is clean. The hotel area is good, there is a children's playground, grass, and a gazebo. Food - you can eat. The mattress is normal and comfortable.

“Far from “King’s” Landing”

We took an economy number. I understand that we shouldn’t have counted on a TV or a kettle, and that’s quite normal, but the holey bed linen was not part of our plans and it really upset us. The house is really the simplest: a beam and wiring along it, not even covered with anything. There are no lamps except overhead light, which is very inconvenient. Incredible audibility, you can even hear the neighbors whispering, and the staircase leading to the second floor creaks so much that in the morning you don’t need any alarm clock. Cleaning the room is a separate issue. A 16-year-old girl comes, waves a broom, kicking up all the dust - that’s it! We scattered the seeds behind the curtain after this “super cleaning” and they remained in their place. The staff apparently received instructions to be attentive to visitors, but in the end they turned out to be too intrusive. In principle, it’s quite an ordinary guest house, of which there are hundreds on Lake Baikal, but the name... if it had been called, for example, “At Petrovich’s” or something like that, then the expectations would have been appropriate, but here “Royal Harbor” is well. .. as they say “you call yourself a load, get into the box”, but this is not about this hotel.... Accommodation lasting 1 night

  • cozy wooden houses with spacious rooms, I especially liked the three-course meal included in the price. There is a luxurious bathhouse where you go with pleasure if you are scared in Lake Baikal. By the way, it is a three-minute walk from guest house! Sasha is the main assistant in all household matters, she will always help and advise if you need any help.
