Klong Muang is a wild beach in Krabi province. Klong Muang is the calmest beach in Krabi What you can see around the beach

Klong Muang Beach, located 13 km north of Ao Nang in Thailand. If there was a direct route from Ao Nang to the beach, the road would be much shorter. But since you need to get there along a winding highway, the total length of the journey is approximately 13 km.

Klong Muang is for those who are tired of the hustle and bustle and want to completely devote themselves to relaxation. A strip of white sand stretches along the coastline. It’s great to lie on it, enjoying the sound of the waves, or just take a walk. You may not even see anyone along the way - the beach is empty from May to October, when there is no swimming season.

Infrastructure

Unlike an ordinary beach, Klong Muang does not have the usual noisy bars, clubs and other typical tourist places for Russian-speaking tourists, with the exception of Paddy’s Pub, which is mostly filled with live music and visitors during the high season. The beach awaits those who come to Thailand to swim in the sea and sunbathe.

Klong Muang is a wild beach. There are no sun loungers or umbrellas, so take everything with you. But there are many trees on the beach that provide shade, which can replace any awnings and roofs.

If you have already decided that Klong Muang is far from civilization, do not rush to conclusions. Nearby is a small village. Everything you need is available.

Restaurants (Sunset Restaurant, The Terrace, Daddy’s Home, Thai Cuisine, Kanya’s), shops, including 7/11, guest houses - all this is opened nearby by enterprising Thais. The menu in restaurants - also intended for tourists - is not only a unique local cuisine. There is pizza, pasta, steaks and other dishes. It’s not difficult to find food to suit your taste in Khlong Muang.

The beach is also good because it is located not so far from the main local party spot -. The tourist infrastructure here is much more developed - cafes, restaurants and bars, travel agencies and tour guides are available to guests. But at the moment, Klong Muang is still a resort for families and retirees.

Hotels

There are few hotels here, and all of them are aimed at wealthy people. At your service is the entire complex of 4-5 star hotel infrastructure: rooms with sea views, spa, buffet. The cost of such hotels is appropriate, but almost all of them are located on the first line. But, since there are no smooth asphalt roads near the beach, hotels on the first line are those that are located 10-50 m from the sea.

There are also options for budget tourists - guesthouses. They are located further from the coastline, but much cheaper. In general, guesthouses in Thailand are very popular - they are inexpensive, have a full range of essential services, and often have very hospitable owners who serve the guests themselves.

How to get there

The most convenient way to get to Klong Muang is in 2 ways: motorbike and taxi. Motorbike can be rented here at any kiosk. This is the most popular type of transport among Thais, along with cars - it’s not hot, there are no traffic jams, the speed is quite high.

When renting transport, get to the beach following the signs. The best thing is to rent a motorbike. Rental points can be found anywhere in Ao Nang. The shortest route from Ao Nang to Klong Muang is through Nopparat Thara - also a beach.

Continue along the Ao Nang waterfront and then continue along Nopparat Thara. After 5 minutes you will need to turn left at the sign for Klong Muang and drive another 10 minutes. Then there will be signs everywhere - don’t get lost. It's only a couple of minutes drive to Klong Muang. And the total travel time is 15-20 minutes by motorbike.

Taxis are also a good way to get to the beach. Motorcycle taxis stop at bus stations and will take you to your destination for $6-9 (200-300 baht). The trip is approximately 40 minutes. Regular taxis are also available. Bargaining is appropriate. You can also book a hotel with a transfer - then you will be met directly at.

If you are coming from Ao Nang, it will be easier. Red taxis stand on every corner and a ride costs $14-17 (500-600 baht). Taxi drivers will take you there in 15-20 minutes.

Klong Muang Beach is a very quiet and secluded piece of paradise, located about 30 kilometers from the provincial capital of Krabi and about 15 kilometers from the popular. Klong Muang is perfect for those who want to feel like they are on a desert island and relax in silence away from people. If you can meet tourists here during the high season, then during the low season Klong Muang will seem like a real wild beach, because from May to October this beach area is practically empty.

Klong Muang Beach is perfect for families with small children, because there is a very gentle and calm descent into the sea, and at high tide the sea is clean and beautiful.

How to get there?

If you want to relax on Klong Muang, you can only get here by taxi or motorbike. Motorbike is perhaps the most popular form of transport not only in the province of Krabi, but throughout Thailand. There are bike rental points on every corner here. Not only is it cheap, it is also convenient, because on a bike you are not afraid of traffic jams and heat.

If you are coming from Ao Nang, take the road through and strictly follow the signs. After driving along Nopparat Thara Beach, after about 5-7 minutes, turn left at the sign for Klong Muang. In about 10 minutes you will be there.

Taking a taxi will not make you worry at all, because in this case you just need to name the end point of the route and the driver will take you to Klong Muang Beach. However, in this case the journey will cost you quite a lot (about 17-20 dollars).

The total travel time will not exceed 20-25 minutes.

General description

Klong Muang Beach is geographically divided into two parts: northern and southern. The southern part of the beach, like the northern one, is a strip of white sand and turquoise water. The only difference between them is that in the northern part there is a cargo pier, which creates a lot of noise, dust and dirt, because heavy cargo ships and large merchant ships constantly ply here. That is why in the northern part of the beach housing prices are an order of magnitude lower than in the southern part.

Beach infrastructure

Russian-speaking tourists do not spoil this beach much with their visits, because there are no noisy parties familiar to our population, bars open from dawn to dusk, and other entertainment establishments so familiar to Thailand.

On the beach there is only one pub called “Paddy’s”, where live calm music plays most evenings, and visitors have a leisurely conversation, and even then it is only open in high season.

Perhaps Klong Muang is the least developed beach in the entire Krabi province from a tourist point of view. There are no pharmacies, banks, markets or sun loungers on the beach. Fruits in this part of Krabi can only be bought in one grocery store with a fourfold markup, and if you want something cheaper, you will have to go to the resort town of Ao Nang, which is also located in Krabi province.

The beach itself does not provide infrastructure, so you need to take beach mats and umbrellas with you. On the landward side, the sandy strip is framed by dense green vegetation, which provides good shade.

Hotels and inns

There are few accommodation places in Klong Muang and the vast majority of them are designed for wealthy people, i.e. in the “4-5 stars” category. The cost of rooms in such hotels is not at all low, but the service and accommodation conditions are appropriate, and the location of the hotels is impressive: almost everything is on the first coastline. There are also no paved roads here, so the hotels are located at the very edge of the water - 10-50 meters away. During low tide, you can see a large number of stones on the beach, but this is not the case in the beach areas fenced by hotels, since the stones are constantly removed here.

Budget tourists heading to this quiet and relaxing resort in Krabi can consider staying in a guesthouse. They are, of course, far from the beach, but will be much cheaper.

Restaurants

On the shores of this resort in Krabi province you will not find a wide variety of restaurants, bars and cafes. There are only three cafes near the beach line. All of them are small in size and can accommodate only up to 20 people, but this does not prevent them from always being half empty. The food here is tasty, varied and at the same time quite cheap. For example, the same dish in a cafe on this beach will cost 3 or even 5 times cheaper than somewhere in the capital Krabi or Ao Nang.

Klong Muang Krabi - a quiet, clean beach 15 km from Ao Nang and 30 km from Krabi Town. This is a calm, cozy place for those who want to take a break from the hustle and bustle and people. Yes, yes, there really are very few people here. It is quite possible that there will be no one on the beach 100 meters from you. Data for 2018. Perhaps when you come to Klong Muang in the coming years, everything will change dramatically, because tourism is sweeping across Thailand, and it is approaching the beautiful place of Klong Muang very quickly. But now Klong Muang Beach is a place for the soul.

Klong Mueang Beach

Klong Muang Krabi is not yet very developed for tourism, there are only a couple of shops, a couple of massage parlors and a couple of travel agencies. There is nothing else in Klong Muang. But that's the beauty of it! No one will touch you in Klong Muang! If you are looking for a quiet, relaxing holiday, you are at the right place. Only the sea, palm trees, and you.

There is no pharmacy or bank in Klong Muang Krabi; when such a need arose, we were offered to go to Ao Nang for these purposes. You won’t be able to buy fruits in Klong Muang either, with the exception of one store where they sell mangoes individually for 4 times more expensive than in the city of Krabi. After all, there are very, very few tourists here, everything goes on at its leisurely pace. In general, as we noticed, people in Klong Muang Krabi are in no hurry and are often absent from their jobs. It is normal for them that when you come to the Klong Muang massage parlor to get a massage for two people, the owner of the salon calls and calls the masseuse. After 10 minutes she arrives on a motorbike. Also with taxi drivers, we wanted to rent a motorbike so that they would take us to Ao Nang Thailand. One Thai calls another, five minutes later a motorbike approaches us. These are the kind of people who will call anyone, even a taxi driver, even a massage therapist, even a dentist...))

How to get to Khlong Muang from Krabi Airport

As I already said, there is no public transport to Klong Muang. I still hope that he will appear someday. But there is transport to Ao Nang. So you can get from Krabi airport to Ao Nang by bus or shuttle, they run there throughout the day. And from Ao Nang you can take a taxi and tuk-tuk to Klong Muang.

Another option is to get from Krabi airport to Krabi Town, you can spend some time there, it’s a very colorful city, and then go to Ao Nang by songthaew for 50 baht. This is, of course, if there is no bulky luggage.

If you are traveling with a group, or if you have quite a lot of luggage, you can take a taxi to Khlong Muang from Krabi airport. You can order it at the airport or online. The cost is about 1000 baht. .

Khlong Mueang hotels

On the seashore in Klong Muang Beach, in the depths of not only palm trees, but also coniferous trees, there are luxurious five-star hotels. We visited two of them, this and .

Luxuriously! What more can I say! Such an area as in Klong Muang was never even dreamed of by hotels in Ao Nang, and even more so in Krabi Town.

Krabi has fenced areas in the sea, where all the stones have been removed, which cannot be said about the rest of the territory. At low tide, all the stones become visible, and thoughts arise in your head: “How did we even swim there?” But it’s okay, everyone is alive and no one was hurt.

Other Khlong Muang Hotels

Since the road is away from the beach, Klong Muang has hotels right on the beach. The most popular hotels in Khlong Muang are:

from 3400 rub.
from 16,000 rub.
from 14,000 rub.
from 2800 rub.
from 1400 rub.
from 1500 rub.

Khlong Muang: restaurants, food

On the shore of Klong Muang Krabi we found only 3 cafes and chose one of them - “Sunset Bar”. A seaside cafe in Khlong Muang with only five tables and they were never all occupied. No fuss, crowds or crowds.

The tom yum there is simply excellent! And the price is only 80 baht for shrimp soup and 70 baht for chicken soup.

In cafes not on Klong Muang Beach, tom yam costs 180 baht. The name “Sunset Bar” in Klong Muang Beach justified itself; it is a pleasure to watch the sunset from there. It gets dark very quickly; while talking, you don’t notice how quickly the colors in the sky change.

Review of Klong Muang Beach

We stayed in a guesthouse, the owner of which is a German from Frankfurt, and chatted with him. In general, we had to communicate with him a lot, because on the very first day the safe in our room jammed with all the documents and money left in it. They were able to open the safe only the next day, when a man just came and sawed it open. Hurray! The room was on the second floor overlooking Klong Muang Krabi Bay. Across the street, of course. And through the roofs of houses.

Klong Muang Krabi: transport

Since the place has not yet been developed for tourism, there is no public transport in Klong Muang Krabi, and no transport at all, except for a taxi station and the occasional tuk-tuks that are very reluctant to stop. In general, it is not customary to vote on the road in Krabi province in Thailand, as we understand. This is not Europe, where ten cars stop in a minute...

Klong Muang is one of the longest beaches in Krabi province. Its coastline is about 4 km long and stretches along the village of the same name, and the nearest town of Ao Nang is 11 km to the east. The sea here is clean, turquoise, the sand is white with small shells, and there are quite sharp stones at the bottom. During the tourist season, garbage is removed, but during the hot and rainy months the beach becomes polluted. The entrance to the water is gentle, but at low tide the water goes quite far away, making it impossible to swim. Along the banks there is an abundance of tropical vegetation.

Despite the presence of several hotels, Klong Muang is famous for its desertedness.

Conventionally, the beach can be divided into three parts - northern, southern and central. In the center is the Dusit Thani Krabi Beach Resort hotel, opposite it is the picturesque paradise island of Hong. In the north of the beach there is a pier for ships; it is approached by a rather noisy road, so rarely anyone swims here. The southern part is quiet and deserted; there is a gazebo where you can hide from the sun.

Usually the beach is visited in the first half of the day: there are no umbrellas or sun loungers, you can only escape the heat in the shade of the trees. The shower is also not installed. Due to the lack of infrastructure, almost no one comes to Klong Muang; mainly guests of nearby hotels relax there.

Useful information

Address: Krabi, Nong Thale, Mueang Krabi District. GPS coordinates: 8.049312, 98.757720.

Klong Muang is a quiet, deserted beach without infrastructure, some distance from. There is a small village here, but there is little in it; you will have to go to Ao Nang to go to a pharmacy or bank. However, for almost everything else, too.

But there are several expensive beach resorts here, where mostly pensioners and families with children relax. The sea near the beach is shallow and it is very convenient for children to swim in it.

The beach consists of two parts - southern and northern, and in the middle there is a small island right next to the shore. In the northwest the beach ends with a pier. Further north is Tab Kaek Beach. The southern part of the beach is completely deserted.

Entering the water, depth and waves

The sand on the beach is light, with a yellow tint. The entry into the sea on the beach is very smooth, near the shore it is very shallow, you have to walk several tens of meters to reach the depth. In addition, this beach has very pronounced low tides, during which the water goes very far into the sea and it is clear that there are stones at the bottom, from very small placers to large boulders.

They are found here and there and are not sharp, half buried in the sand, so they do not pose a danger when swimming. You can also walk along the shore and look for areas where the entrance to the sea is practically free of stones.

In general, the beach is very convenient for children to swim. The sea water and sand here are clean. Since there are several expensive resorts located on the beach, it is well maintained and trash is removed.

Sunbeds and shade

Along the beach there are palm trees in places, broad-leaved tropical trees in places, and there is also a strip of tall casuarinas. These trees are similar to conifers and provide good shade during the day. There is no infrastructure on the beach, only a couple of beach cafes with bamboo chairs in the shade of trees.

Since there are no sunbeds with umbrellas for rent, vacationers will have to use the natural shade of the trees. Guests of beach hotels, of course, can sunbathe on hotel sun loungers with umbrellas, which are usually located a little further from the beach.

Infrastructure

There is no nightlife on the beach, as well as special infrastructure. Just a couple of shops, a couple of cafes on the beach and in the village, a couple of travel agencies and massage parlors. One of the nicest places on the beach is the small beach cafe Sunset Bar.

However, resorts in Thailand are developing rapidly, so perhaps soon the beach will have a standard tourist infrastructure with a full range of entertainment. But then this place will lose its charm of a quiet village beach without people. There are bike rentals and an ATM.

Houses and hotels on the beach

Of the expensive resorts on the beach, first of all we can name:

But I would not recommend settling on the right side of the beach. In my opinion, the beach there is worse, and there is a road along the beach along which cars drive and generate dust. On the left side of the beach, on the contrary, there is complete silence and tranquility, because that’s what people come here for.

It is very difficult to find monthly rent here, there are few options. There is literally one, we lived in it for several days. The owners are different, so the prices can also be different. In principle, there are simple rooms or houses in the area, but still, mass housing is only available in Aonang.

Be sure (and I insist) to check for discounts or special offers on a great service. It will quickly and easily show you discounts in all existing booking systems. In Asia, for example, there are a lot of offers on Agoda.com, which are much more interesting than for exactly the same hotels on Booking.com.

How to find the beach

The beach is located 14 km from Ao Nang and the easiest way to get there is by taxi or tuk-tuk. If you are on transport, then you can do it yourself. Drive along the road along the Ao Nang embankment towards Nopparat Thara beach. Then the road goes along and turns inland from the sea, to the right.

After a few minutes of travel along this road there will be a sign for Klong Muang - to the left. Further there are several more signs, at the end, in front of Klong Muang beach, there will be another sign to the right - to Tubkaek beach. But straight ahead, you’ll be there in a couple of minutes. In total, the journey from Ao Nang to Klong Muang usually takes a little more than 15 minutes.
