The territory of modern Croatia was settled by the Slavs in the 7th century. In the 9th century, the first state was formed. In 1102, Croatia became part of the Kingdom of Hungary. During the revolution of 1848-1849. in Austria and Hungary, Croatia achieved autonomy within the Habsburg Empire, but lost it after the suppression of the revolution. After World War II, in 1945, the Croatian Republic became part of the Federal People's Republic of Yugoslavia.
