Holidays in Bulgaria with children, what a resort. Holidays in Bulgaria with children

Bulgaria is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful countries. For our compatriots, Bulgaria has long been a favorite for a number of completely objective reasons: it is inexpensive, it is beautiful, it is tasty and it is the sea. There are a lot of resorts, children’s camps, entire complexes on the Bulgarian coast, and every decade a new one is formed, growing from a small village. Thus, the Bulgarian coast represents a whole chain of excellent and varied resorts. By the way, let's talk about them and how good they are for families with children:

Varna

Most major port country, “the summer capital of Bulgaria”, “the best city to live in Bulgaria” - this is what Varna is called. Varna is a city of contrasts, and its architecture is a mixture of the beautiful and the ugly. Tourists prefer to come to Varna for a walk from neighboring small resorts because it's a lot of fun. There is excellent entertainment for children, perhaps the best on the entire coast - dolphinariums, amusement parks, aquariums, a puppet theater, and a whole bunch of historical buildings and museums, for example, an archaeological one with some incredible exhibits. And a fantastic “stone forest” nearby. There are a lot of excellent cafes and restaurants here, you can go here for shopping for your child, and in general, it’s very convenient to get here. But the hotels for family vacation there is not much in Varna - after all, it is a city, not a resort village.

One of the most major cities Bulgaria, quite beautiful and interesting for a child. Burgas is beautiful parks, beaches with dark sand, cultural life (a number of interesting festivals take place here, for example, the Sand Sculpture Festival), again, good shopping for a child, and some entertainment - an amusement park, the Primorskaya Gradina park. The downside of Burgas is its beaches: they are not very good, or rather, the sea there is rather dirty, because there is a large seaport nearby, and all the port pollution ends up on the city beaches. But there are better beaches outside the city. There are almost no hotels for children in Burgas, but you can easily find hotels with swimming pools and family rooms.

Tsarevo

A city and port in Bulgaria, one of the southernmost seaside resorts in the country. Small, but very interesting, absolutely not youthful, not particularly crowded, very inexpensive, with clear sea And good beaches. And the big plus is that it’s a little warmer and better here than at other resorts, because the resort is located further south.

Kranevo

The village is 15 km from Balchik, small, with a clean golden beach 6 km long and a clear sea. Very inexpensive, quiet, with small hotels (mostly guesthouses or 2* and 3* hotels, or apartments), which are also good for children. More suitable for holidays with small children.

Review

One of oldest cities in Bulgaria with wonderful climatic conditions, good beaches, brand new hotels, low prices for accommodation and services. It’s also very quiet and peaceful here. This is clearly a family resort, because there is absolutely nothing for young people to do here. The downside of Obzor is that it is located a bit far from the main excursion spots on the coast, and you will have to take a bus from the airport. There is also very little entertainment for children here - perhaps the Castle entertainment complex on the beach.

Saint Vlas

A young and rapidly developing village near Sunny Beach, quiet and peaceful, with its own marina, excellent family complexes with mini-clubs and children's animators, wonderful beaches (shallow waters). But there is little entertainment. If you are not going to leave the village anywhere, then it is better to come here with small children and primary schoolchildren.

Elenite

The resort is between two favorite resorts - Burgas and Sunny Beach. A young, calm resort, not yet as crowded and noisy as other cities, modern (no hotels a la the USSR), a water park, gorgeous nature (the Balkan Mountains literally “press” the resort to the sea), not so expensive, with good climate(mountains protect the resort from the winds). Hotels in Elenite are generally all for children! Particularly pleasing is the network complex Royal Hotels Club Victoria, where entertainment for children is very cool.

Balchik

The city in northeastern Bulgaria is an important port. Located near Varna airport, it offers interesting places for a walk (because Balchik is a city with a rather rich history), mineral springs within the city, some children's entertainment. But this is not the best best beaches. The beaches are not well-maintained, and the one that is well-maintained and looks better is always packed to capacity. But there is a lot here interesting place- Queen Mary's Palace with an incredible botanical garden.

St. Constantine and Helena

One of the oldest and most beautiful resorts in all of Bulgaria. Small, very green, with a low density of hotels, this absolutely non-party town can offer very good beach holiday, especially in the northern part of the town. There are also hot hydrogen sulfide mineral springs, and some hotels offer free swimming in the pool with this healthy water. Nice bonus! The downside is the fairly high shore and stairs leading to the beaches. It's inconvenient with a stroller. There is not much entertainment for children.

Sozopol

An excellent family resort with a unique flavor and rich past, small and homely, with cool beaches and plenty of cafes. Entertainment options include the Aqua Planet water park and Ravadinovo Castle in the neighboring village. There are good hotels for families.

Sunny Beach

There is a lot of entertainment for children and adults, in hotels and outside (luna park, two water parks), excellent tourist infrastructure, a good selection of hotels, cleanest beaches, awarded the Blue Flag. It’s true that the hotels here are very expensive, and there is not much greenery compared to other resorts. Noisy and fun!

Albena

A young, beautiful and well-groomed resort with excellent beaches and clean sea, the Baltata nature reserve nearby and good entertainment for little ones.

Golden Sands

Cool, popular, with very high quality family hotels, wonderful beaches with truly golden sands, but too noisy and crowded, with a high density of hotels. In addition, the town is hilly, and crawling through the mountains with a stroller is not very convenient. But the Aquapolis water park and the Golden Sands park - and nothing more is needed!

Nessebar

The ancient wonderful beautiful Nessebar is a place where tourists go on excursions to see Old town. There are good ones family hotels(in the New part) and some entertainment for children - Aquaparadise water park, for example.

And don’t forget that Bulgaria also offers excellent ski resorts , among which we can highlight Borovets and Bansko.

The time for holidays and holidays will begin soon. It is necessary to think in advance about how and where to spend them with maximum benefit. The best resorts for families with children are very close. Sunny Bulgaria has always been and remains a fertile land for tourists.

Not a single story, not a single video can fully describe the beauty of this region. Hotels here always open their doors hospitably for children and their parents on the coast, and in the mountains for ski lovers. Let's try to list all the reasons why it is best to relax with a child here.

How to choose a resort

When going on vacation with a child less than 1 year old or older, an adult must take care in advance to ensure that the trip is enjoyable for everyone. It is necessary to approach the choice of place and time especially responsibly. If you can adjust something with food on the spot, buy it, cook it, and somehow compensate for the lack of entertainment, then the climate and weather are not under your control.

In the same way, it will be impossible to change the terrain and location of the home where you will spend your time. These points must also be carefully calculated. For example, for a 2-year-old child, a clean sandy beach with a gentle entrance to the sea would be very relevant.

A road with several transfers and a duration of several days can also ruin any vacation. This is another important nuance that must be taken into account.

The next most important selection criteria will be hotel amenities and leisure activities. Please ensure that the hotel you are traveling to has the following available and able to provide:

  • extra baby cot;
  • food, bottle warmers and a stroller for infants;
  • children's club;
  • children's menu;
  • children's playground;
  • children's animation;
  • nanny and nursery for babies up to one year old.

All this is far from necessary, but it is very desirable to have it in the hotel of your choice.

Climate of Bulgaria

This small country has collected all types of relief within its borders:

Accordingly, the weather here cannot be the same. If in the mountains in winter the temperature drops to -30°C with two-meter snowdrifts and bright sun, then in coastal areas it balances around zero. All year round, high ridges reliably protect seaside resorts from cold European winds.
Thanks to this, the climate, unlike the mainland continental one, is mild Mediterranean on the coast and in the south of the country. There are no strong daily temperature changes here, and by the end of summer the sea warms up to 23 degrees. The weather in the summer months on the coast resembles the Crimean: during the day 23-30°C, at night 12-15°C. The most gentle temperature for babies lasts from mid-May to the end of June or in the last month of summer and the first month of autumn. However, in May-June the sea is still cool, and you will only have to swim in the pools. Therefore, when they ask: “Please advise, tell me when is the best time to book hotels with children in Bulgaria,” there is only one answer – in August-September.

Road

By plane from Moscow to one of four airports (Sofia, Varna, Plovdiv, Burgas) it takes only 2-3 hours. But this is only a flight. When planning a trip with children, it is better to find a route with the fewest transfers. The proximity of our countries allows you to choose one of the possible modes of transportation or combine them:

To cross the border you need a visa (Schengen or national). There are also bans and restrictions on the import of certain items and products. It is necessary to first clarify the list and quantity of the limit.

When choosing a hotel in Bulgaria for a holiday with a child, be sure to check all the distances that you will have to travel.

  • The road from the airport or train station to the hotel is sometimes more difficult and longer than the flight itself. Having your own transfer at the hotel is of great importance and a huge plus. You need to inquire about this before your trip.
  • Distance to the beach. You will have to overcome it at least twice a day. Great if the hotel has private beach right under the windows of the hotel rooms. But sometimes budget economy 2nd line hotels are more attractive than expensive premium ones, providing regular transport where you can travel for free in a couple of minutes to a good sandy beach and back.
  • When going on vacation with a teenager, look through the forum or on our website for reviews of hotels, nearby attractions, entertainment centers, excursions, as well as distance from objects of interest to the child (water parks, amusement parks, Disneylands, etc.).

Resorts for young people

The most party and noisy resort in the country is Sunny Beach. No less vibrant nightlife in Golden Sands. Both resorts have good entertainment and ample opportunities for active pastime: water parks, centers for surfing, rowing and water skiing.

According to reviews, you can have a great holiday in Bulgaria in the village of Ravda. It has good facilities for sports and excellent beaches, while the holiday itself will cost much less. Economical youth recreation V southern resort Kiten - there are campsites and many inexpensive hotels.

Not far from Sozopol there is the Golden Fish beach, popular among surfers, and the Smokini beach, which is popular with nudists and informals. Both beaches have cafes, umbrellas and sun loungers. You can stay at campsites nearby.

Resorts for seniors

St. Constantine and Helena is a respectable resort a few kilometers from Varna. Nice hotels, green parks, thermal and hydrogen sulfide springs, balneological treatment center.

Balchik, Nessebar and Sozopol also offer a relaxing holiday. It is quiet here, compared to the crowded Sunny Beach or Golden Sands, there is a rich excursion program, and prices in local cafes are affordable. If you are interested in a passive beach holiday, then you should go to Pomorie.

Bulgaria is a good country!.. Every year more and more of our fellow tourists go there. If you decide to join them and spend your 2019 vacation on another Black Sea coast, then all these tips and a small rating of the best hotels for dessert are for you :)

The most popular “type” of holiday in Bulgaria is with children. Therefore, our recommendations on when is the best time to go to Bulgaria are focused on kids and their comfort:

  1. Beach season starts in May. This is the most good time for holidays with small children. The climate is mild and gentle. Even if the baby has just turned 1 year old, acclimatization is not scary. But few people will dare to swim at the end of spring - the sea is still cool (+21°C), and the weather can “diversify” the vacation with a little rain.
  2. Swimming season comes from June. Average temperature air reaches +26°C, and water warms up to +23°C. At this time, a holiday in Bulgaria with children over 3 years old is ideal.
  3. July and August are high season: outside in summer it’s already up to +35°C, in the sea +25°C, and on the beaches everything more tourists, both family and without children. One big BUT: since the end of July, outbreaks of rotavirus infection have not been uncommon in Bulgarian resorts.
  4. And finally, September - velvet season : low prices, comfortable weather and slowly cooling sea.

To save money, focus on the end of May-beginning of June or September: the cost of a vacation drops by ≈15%. And do early booking or apartments, starting around March, it will be even cheaper.

By the way, this country also has a ski season (December-March). So, Bulgaria is good with children all year round :)

Why Bulgaria? Features of the holiday

In Bulgaria, a beach holiday with a child is chosen for several reasons:

  • a region with a Mediterranean climate eliminates the period of adaptation
  • gentle entry into the sea and soft sand
  • calm and safe
  • comfortable and inexpensive holiday: according to tourists, in many 3* hotels the level of service and quality of food are comparable to 5 stars all inclusive. And one person’s budget for 7 days can be only €135 (including restaurants, excursions and souvenirs)
  • Bulgaria is also suitable for traveling with children thanks to its healing pine-sea air
  • Bulgaria or Türkiye? The first is supported by the kinship of cultures, languages and culinary preferences.
  • hotels are designed for family holidays: they will offer an additional cot, high chair, bottle warmer, menu

The most important thing is not to forget that Bulgaria is not visa-free country. In 2019, the consular fee for registration tourist visa is 35 euros (and 70 euros for urgent) + about €19 for the service fee if you apply through an intermediary. For children up to 6 years visa is free.

Prices for tours to Bulgaria

Have you heard about online tour aggregators? These are services that monitor the databases of all leading tour operators at once, compare prices and issue a summary of profitable tours. It’s one thing to study offers from 1-2 tour operators, and another to choose the best among all, especially when it is conveniently presented. So, we recommend:

Prices for tours to Bulgaria in 2019 are among the most reasonable (if you don’t take into account the visa. What if you have a valid Schengen card?). With departure from Moscow, for two + a child for 7 nights - from 55,000 rubles (breakfast). Of course, this price is for 2*, maximum 3* hotels. Similar tours to Bulgaria for 4 stars and above - from 63,000 rubles.

The cheapest resorts are Golden Sands and neighboring Chaika, St. Constantine and Helena. From "biting", but level, with excellent hotels on all inclusive– Sunny Beach, Elenite, Nessebar.

By the way, how much does all inclusive cost in Bulgaria? 10 days of relaxing holiday will cost from 75,000 rubles for three. And in other countries?

The best resorts in Bulgaria for family holidays

In order to properly understand where is the best place to vacation in Bulgaria with children, we visited more than one travel forum, read reviews and advice from tourists.

  • and is the northern coast of the country, both resorts are located near Varna, which means convenient transfer from the airport
  • – also northern popular destination, considered one of the main children's resorts in Bulgaria
  • and are located further south and are suitable for those who like to sightsee between swimming sessions
  • – a young resort near Sunny Beach, at the very foot of Balkan mountains
  • and – places for recreational purposes: natural beaches and balneological resorts

Where is the best place to go with a child?

If you are planning a holiday in Bulgaria with children, when choosing where to go, take into account factors such as: the child’s age, travel budget, preferences (relax on a sun lounger VS go on an excursion). Of course, you will solve all these issues yourself, and we will tell you where it is best to implement your plans.

  • Sunny Beach and Elenite

Where to go to Bulgaria with a child? To Sunny Beach. Even though this is the most expensive among all Bulgarian resorts: a tour for “mom, dad, me” for 7 days will cost from 60,000 rubles. However, holidays in Bulgaria with children, especially all-inclusive, in Sunny Beach are especially good, because... high prices are due to the same high quality beaches and water purity (confirmed Blue flag).

Because the resort is a family and youth resort, there is an unspoken settlement order: backpackers and students live in the center, buzzing at night; people go north for cool (and expensive) hotels; well, the “children” gather in the southern part.

The Elenite resort deserves special attention: in this place the mountains come close to the sea, which allows you to enjoy the natural beauties that many resorts lack. Elenite is not such a party place as Sunny Beach, but it will still be comfortable here with preschoolers (the entrance to the water is not suitable for children, it is pebbly in places, and teenagers will be downright bored).

    Burgas

When exploring Bulgarian resorts for families with children, take a closer look at Burgas. This is an ancient port city, one of the largest in the country, which means it lives a real life that does not depend on the tourist season. By the way, in Burgas people often relax on their own.

    • Prices for hotels, even high-class ones, are two times lower than Solnechnobrezhnye
    • Plenty of grocery stores catering to local residents
    • You can immerse yourself in architecture and parks without leaving the city

What will interfere with swimming is the port. But the problem can be solved: settle near Burgas, in Pomorie or Sozopol. In the first, for example, all conditions have been created for a family holiday - a gentle beach with a long descent into the water, where there is no fear for even the youngest swimmers, surrounded by apart-hotels and houses with apartments for rent. The second is a very nice town with old streets and good beaches.

    Golden Sands

Golden Sands is, after all, the north. Therefore, a significant drawback is the cool sea already in mid-September. But if you are with a very small child who needs fresh air and sunbathing more, this is the place for you. Another disadvantage is noise: there are quite a lot of young people, which means clubs and night discos. However, here you can also find quiet, family-run hotels (more details below).

Otherwise, everything is “tailored” specifically for children: in cafes there are children’s menus (even if there are none, you will be offered porridge for the baby), on the streets there is a lot of entertainment, attractions and all kinds of trampolines, hotels and other establishments are equipped with ramps for strollers.

Golden Sands is also chosen for its low prices (almost half lower than in Sunny Beach) and good sandy beaches.

    Albena

The best resorts in Bulgaria, alas, have a short season. This also applies to the famous children's health resort - Albena resort. It is located even further north than Golden Sands, and September can pass without swimming at all. Which, of course, is a shame, because... local beaches have been awarded the Blue Flag.

Albena is a semi-closed hotel city for families, surrounded by a nature reserve. Oxygen here is not spoiled by cars; driving them through the resort is simply prohibited! Everyone walks on their own or rides bicycles. And they don’t make noise at night :)

There is plenty for children to do: attractions, equipped playgrounds, bicycle carts for rent, and a water park. Most hotels in Albena (from 3* and above) offer an all-inclusive system. But Albanian eateries are so praised for good cuisine and colorful interiors that make it a must-visit.

What can you do? Entertainment

Are you planning to travel to Bulgaria with children, but don’t know which resort to choose so as not to get bored? Entertainment can be found anywhere, if there is a desire. But to save your time, we will describe in which direction you should look.

Let's start with the hotels themselves. Large complexes have animation, children's rooms, and playgrounds. In simpler places of residence, all this is no longer found in full force and not always. And if there is, it may only be suitable for three-year-old children.

All the most interesting things in Bulgaria begin outside the hotels. There are fairground rides, horse riding, and other joys of childhood. And, of course, water parks:

  • “Aquamania” in Albena (for adults all day – €18, children – €8, those under a meter – free)
  • “Aqua Paradise” in Nessebar (per adult – €21.5, per child – €10 or free,
    if tall< 90 см)
  • “Action Aquapark” in Sunny Beach (for parents – €19.5, for children – €9.5 or free under the above conditions)
  • “Aquapolis” in Golden Sands (adult – €18, children – €9 or free)
  • Atlantida water park in Elenite (free for hotel guests or €15 per person over 90 cm).

P.S. It’s not us who write clumsily about ticket categories based on height, but the rules of water parks :)

With older children (who have outgrown diapers and already require bread and circuses) you can go on an excursion. But one that will be interesting to him, so now we are not talking about ancient churches and architectural monuments.

1️⃣ For children, a fascinating trip to the Varna Dolphinarium (adult ticket to the show - €12.5, children from 2 to 12 years old - €10; swimming with a dolphin - €102).

2️⃣ On the way to Varna, you can also stop by the Happy Land amusement park (entrance for adults or children - €12, under 3 years - free).

3️⃣ In Burgas, it is worth visiting the park along the sea - Seaside Park.

4️⃣ Someone will probably like the complex - the Palace and Botanical Garden in Balchik - not far from Albena (adults ticket will cost €5, children - €1, up to 7 years free; entrance to the garden - €2.5 and €0, 5 respectively).

Top 10 hotels in Bulgaria for families with children

Well, now we come to the most interesting part: choosing best hotels Bulgaria for holidays with children.

  • Golden Sands

    1. 5* Melia Grand Hermitage– this is the first line, all inclusive and a large area (a kind of prototype of a Turkish hotel). Parents with small children will like it here - the animation and games room are designed for children up to 4-5 years old:
    2. 5* Marina Grand Beach– suitable even for holidays with babies. The animation is on par, as is the food:
    3. 3* Gradina– that very calm hotel in the hyper-noisy Golden Sands. Quite budget-friendly, with good food - you can take both breakfast and full board. It’s about 10 minutes to the sea, but you’ll have to walk along the beach; the entrance is not convenient everywhere:
    4. 4* Luna– a quiet hotel located on the first line, a special children’s area in the pool. The main advantage of the hotel is the variety of food in the restaurant:
    5. 4* Astera Hotel & Spa- is at the epicenter nightlife resort, but the big advantages are high-quality all-inclusive and an excellent beach:

Absolutely all beaches in Bulgaria are subordinate to the municipality, which, along with hotels, monitors their cleanliness. Umbrellas, sun loungers and toilets on the beach paid. But no one will forbid sunbathing on your own towel or mat (albeit in a certain area). Which, in fact, is what many vacationers do.

Sunny Beach is a continuous sandy beach stretching for 8 km along the coast. Considered the best in Bulgaria local beach Irakli, located on the territory of the reserve. Chaise lounge and umbrella: for €9.

Sozopol boasts several beaches at once. Chaise lounge and umbrella: for €6.

      • Central - with a gentle entry into the water, but narrow
      • Harmani – a wide beach for families
      • Kavatsite (a suburb of Sozopol) is one of the most beautiful beaches in Bulgaria
      • Smokine – no less picturesque, but without any civilization

Not far from Nessebar there is the Olympic Hopes beach with various attractions and catamarans for rent. Chaise lounge and umbrella: for €6.

Golden Sands is a deeper sea for those who are older. It’s worth relaxing here with kids near the Riviera complex. Chaise lounge and umbrella: for €10.

Albena is good in all respects! Cleanliness, civility, a lot of entertainment - all together this makes an ideal children's beach. Chaise lounge and umbrella, if not included in the hotel price: €5 and €7 respectively.

And finally, dear parents, some advice.

When choosing hotels in Bulgaria for your holiday, study the reviews. It will help to avoid disappointment from the Soviet hotel heritage, which, unfortunately, is still found in Bulgaria.

Start your search with budget options– inexpensive hotels in Bulgaria, especially those listed in our selection, can be as good as five-star hotels.

Consider all the features of holidays with children:

      • think over the menu (all or cafes in the neighborhood)
      • Find out in advance if there is a store with baby products nearby.
      • be prepared that the baby will not be interested in animation, will refuse the nanny and will be with you 24 hours a day

If you are traveling with a very small child, it is better to plan your trip for June or September, when it is not hot.

If possible, try to find hotels by the sea - long trips to the beach can be tiring for children.

Copying of materials is permitted only with the obligatory indication of a direct, active and indexable hyperlink to the site.

Since Soviet times, everyone has become accustomed to the fact that in Bulgaria you can have a great holiday with your children. Indeed, at that time there were created ideal conditions for children's holidays. This situation continues to this day. This country still creates all the necessary conditions for a holiday with children, and there are several resorts where these conditions are the best.

Why is Bulgaria considered one of the most best countries for a holiday with children? There are many reasons, which include the country’s rather mild climate, a short flight from Moscow (about 2 hours), friendly people, good service, cuisine familiar to children, and much more.

The most famous Bulgarian resort for families with children is, of course, Albena. This resort is specially designed for children's recreation. It is located on the Northern coast of Bulgaria, which indicates the absence of incredible heat on the coast of Albena.

Albena has a very clean sea with a smooth entrance, which is safe for children. The beach at this resort is sandy, and its cleanliness is confirmed by the Blue Flag award. Moreover, sun loungers on the beach are free, unlike many other Bulgarian resorts.

On the territory of this resort there is a huge variety of all kinds of entertainment for young guests, including an amusement park, various children's clubs, a kindergarten, slot machines for children, an autodrome and even a mini railway. As for teenagers, especially in Albena they have the opportunity to engage in horse riding, archery, pedal boating, go-karting and much more.
