This is one of the most beloved beaches of Crimea by tourists. It is easily accessible - located near the center of Yalta, below Massandra Park. The sea is quite deep, medium-sized pebbles.
The beach is in perfect condition, constantly cleaned, and entry is free. Yalta, Livadia beach

The beach is also very well-maintained and very clean, and much less crowded compared to Massandra. Livadia Beach is located 3.5 kilometers from Yalta, you can get to it through the park of the famous Livadia Palace or take the underground elevator (for a fee).
Entrance to Livadia Beach is free.

The beach has very smooth pebbles and there are picturesque landscapes all around. Just like Massandra, the beach is divided into several zones by breakwaters.

The beach is well-maintained, you can rent sun loungers, umbrellas, mattresses, buy food and drinks. Those who do not like noise and crowds relax here. The beach season in Livadia is long, from May to October.

Miskhor, Rusalka Beach

photo from crimee.com.ua

The village of Miskhor is considered the most warm place in Crimea - you can swim here even in October, and its pebble beaches are famous for their exceptionally clear water.
Rusalka Beach is located between Yalta and Alupka. It's small, but very popular, and crowded during peak season, although it's usually not very noisy.

The symbol of the beach is a sculpture of a mermaid located in the sea, not far from the shore, with which a beautiful legend about an unfortunate girl is associated.

The “Rusalka” beach is artificial, it consists of a concrete embankment and breakwaters, between which, in four sections, crushed igneous rock was once poured. The sea turned the rubble into nice smooth small pebbles. On one side of Miskhor there is the famous Ai-Petri mountain, on the other there is a small interesting Bublik rock with a tunnel - a “hole” in the middle.
The beach is free, there is equipment rental and a toilet. You can sit in a cafe on the embankment or take a boat ride.

Foros, main beach

photo from the site po-krymu.ru

Not only heads of state prefer Foros for recreation - even residents of Yalta, which is not deprived of beautiful beaches, like to come to the beaches of Foros.

The sea here is especially clean, quite deep, and there are many cozy coves.

The main beach of Foros is free, about 10 meters wide. It consists of large and small pebbles, partly concrete covering. There are stone boulders and small rocks on the beach.
The beach in the village of Foros (also called the “Green Beach”) is equipped quite modestly - changing rooms, rental of umbrellas and sunbeds, diving equipment, and a rescue station. There are many cafes and kiosks on the embankment.

Simeiz, village beach

photo from the site my-travel-info.ru

Only 18 kilometers separate the village of Simeiz from Yalta with its famous parks and palaces. Along the long embankment of Simeiz there are very picturesque large-pebble beaches with steep slopes to them.

There are rocks around the beaches, and many swim directly from them. The most famous and beautiful beach- at the Diva rock.

Simeiz beach is quite noisy, it lives a busy life: all kinds of beach activities, active sports games, discos, cafes. In a word, this beach is ideal for youth recreation.
The beach is quite landscaped, there is equipment rental, you can rent scuba diving equipment; entry is free. Very close to the beach - wonderful park sanatorium "Simeiz", and a little further away there is a large water park.
By the way, only 18 kilometers separate the village of Simeiz from Yalta with its famous parks and palaces.

Alushta, Tender Beach beach

photo from the site yalta-krym.ru

The Alushta embankment stretches for several kilometers. The “Tender Beach” beach is located along the central section of the embankment, literally a five-minute walk from the city center. This is the city, main beach of Alushta.

It is usually very crowded here, and during peak season you have to reserve your seat early in the morning!

The beach is small pebbles, free (although you will have to pay for places on sun loungers), and not very wide. It is well equipped: there are showers, toilets, a first-aid post, and rental of beach equipment. Those interested can rent a boat for fishing or go on a boat ride. Eat water attractions for children, slide, you can ride a banana. In addition, nearby, on the embankment, there are all kinds of services, cafes, shops and entertainment.

Alushta, “Bay of Love”

photo from the site ai-petri.com

This “wild” beach is located not far from Alushta, near the village of Rybachye. "Bay of Love" is one of most picturesque places Southern coast of Crimea.

This semicircular bay, covered with rocks, was formed from the remains of an ancient, long-extinct volcano.

The water here is very clean, the shore is rocky and narrow - during bad weather it can be flooded, so spending the night on the beach is dangerous. True, those who know these places well claim that there are several caves in the rocks where you can hide.
The peculiarity of the “Bay of Love” is that getting there is not easy. There are two ways: either from the sea, by boat or speedboat, or through the mountains, along a steep “goat” path. However, the hiking route is also quite accessible and does not require any mountaineering training.

Sevastopol, Jasper beach on Cape Fiolent

photo from booking.com

One of most beautiful places Crimea, famous for its extraordinary multi-colored pebbles, including pieces of jasper, as well as very clear water of a beautiful turquoise color. This is a “wild” beach, but very popular, which means it is crowded during the peak season. The beach is divided into three recreation areas. The main one, “Monastery” (named because of its proximity to the St. George’s Monastery), has changing rooms, a small cafe, kiosks, boat and umbrella rentals.
Opposite the beach, in the sea, rises the rock of the Holy Apparition with a cross. There are steps in the rock and you can climb to the top.

The main problem awaiting those who want to relax on Jasper Beach is a very long and steep, and sometimes unsafe descent (and then an equally difficult climb!) up the stairs, numbering from 800 to 900 steps!

But, fortunately, there is another option - to get there by boat, which regularly goes here from Balaklava.

Sevastopol, Laspi Bay

photo from the site laspi-crimea.livejournal.com

Laspi Bay is located near Sevastopol, between capes Aya and Sarych.

The bay has several beaches surrounded by groves of relict juniper. Some of them are pebbled, others are concrete.

Pebble beaches are usually chosen for families with children, since the entry into the sea here is quite smooth and shallow. Near the concrete piers it is very deep, experienced swimmers, fishermen and divers rest here, because in Laspi there is a transparent sea, at the bottom of which you can see fish, crabs, and shellfish.
The free pebble beach in the area of the Batiliman sanatorium in Laspi Bay has good infrastructure: water slides and attractions, rental of beach equipment. There are many cafes and restaurants, discos, and you can even hang glider.

Olenevka, beaches of Cape Tarkhankut

photo from crimeaone.ru

Cape Tarkhankut is the westernmost point of Crimea. Little vegetation, many stones and rocks, exceptionally clear water make the local landscape a little “unearthly”. The beaches of Cape Tarkhankut stretch for as much as 25 kilometers, they are mostly pebble, and you can find quiet bays, large stones, grottoes, and caves.
These beaches are especially loved by divers - after all, the water here is visible at 6-8 meters! You can see a variety of marine life, beautiful shells, plants...

On Cape Tarkhankut there is such a romantic place as the “Bowl of Love” - a natural sea pool among the rocks. According to legend, if lovers do not unclench their hands after jumping from a cliff into the water, their life together will be happy.

Probably, every city, and even more so if we are talking about a resort, has its own “branded” places. It is from these sights that you can guess the place and form your own impression of it. There are several such places on Corfu (or the island of Kerkyra, as the Greeks themselves call it). But the main calling card of this place is gorgeous beaches. In this article you will discover best beaches Corfu.

Pebble beaches

For your convenience, we have divided the main beaches of Corfu into two categories: pebble and sand. Some beaches are pebble and sand, this will be discussed separately in the description.

Magnificent Paleokastritsa

If you decide to search the Internet for photos of Corfu beaches, pictures of Cape Paleokastritsa will probably appear in the first place. Many consider this cape to be the most picturesque attraction of the island and tend to go there.

From the capital of the island, Kerkyra, you can get to Paleokastritsa by Green Bus (that’s the name of the bus), a ticket costs a few euros. The journey will take about thirty minutes. Another way to admire the cape is to book a tour of Kerkyra; not a single tourist group passes by. However, in this case it is unlikely that you will be able to plunge into the warm sea.

If you go to the beach, be sure to take a mask and fins with you, because the water is clean, and underwater world rich. Everything around is fragrant with the aromas of the Mediterranean.

Buses come straight to the central beach, and there is also a pier. On it, locals offer a ride on a yacht or boat through grottoes and caves. It seems that there are too many foreign tourists, but most do not make noise and maintain the harmony of this place. Here you will find incredible picturesque bays. Paleokastritsa has the best beaches in Corfu; on the map you can find the city in the western part of the island.

There is sand mixed with pebbles. The entrance to the water is purely sandy, so special shoes are not needed. Be prepared that the water in June will be cold; it is better to swim later. But at any time of the year, the turquoise transparent sea will not leave you indifferent!

Barbati – fashionable beach

Barbati is a very clean pebble beach with clear water. From the shore you can see Albania, and if you sail further away, you will have a magnificent view of Mount Pantokrator. Anyone can rent sunbeds and umbrellas (there are always enough of them, trestle beds are placed in several rows). There are places to eat on Barbati. You will find both a shower and a toilet here. Despite all the amenities, the place is not crowded. The only exceptions are weekends, when the Greeks want to relax too. If you get tired of the heat, you can walk through the olive grove that separates the coastline from the residential complexes.

In general, Barbati is a “glamorous village” best place for parties where the cream of Greek society come to relieve the burden of fatigue. And if you are looking for beaches on the island of Corfu where you can also hang out, then this is the place for you! There are clubs within walking distance, where you can get a beautiful tan and cool off with a delicious cocktail. If you love music, fun, and the smell of coffee in the air, then you are in the right place.

Modern Agios Gordios

Agios Gordios is comfortably located in the most beautiful bay of Corfu, which can be immediately recognized from the photo. Typical features of the beach are the characteristic rocky terrain and small rock, which seems to look out from the sea. This west coast islands, and is traditionally considered European. There are very few Slavs in the village and by the sea.

Agios Gordios is civilized and there are plenty of places to eat. There are taverns with delicious national cuisine. Moreover, many coastal restaurants and bars offer customers free sun loungers. Even if you don't buy anything, the sun loungers are inexpensive. Two sunbeds with an umbrella cost from 5 euros per day.

If you are wondering where the sandy beaches are in Corfu, you will find part of the answer here. Agios Gordios is quite big, about three kilometers long. There is sand on the shore, but the entrance to the sea is strewn with small pebbles. There are no sharp changes, the approach is smooth, and deep places start 15 meters from the shore. If you search, you might come across wild beach with stunning fine sand not only on the shore, but also in the sea. In general, the place is ideal for relaxation, especially with small children.

Porto Timoni – when the mountains embrace the sea

Porto Timoni is a truly virgin place with lush vegetation and the clearest sea. In terms of beauty, this is the best beach in Corfu. By public transport You won’t be able to get there: only by rented car, taxi, or on your own. Even if you go by car, on the way to the beach you still have to overcome the descent from the mountain (about a quarter of an hour), and, accordingly, you will have to climb back. We advise you to take a change with you. But the views of Porto Timoni are worth all the effort. Therefore, when you are asked about the most beautiful beaches in Corfu, you will probably talk about Porto Timoni.

Before the descent, you can refresh yourself in a cafe, and head on to the gorgeous pebble coast. To avoid getting lost, look at the signs and look for the words “Double beach”. In general, the name is not entirely true. In fact, there are three beaches, it’s just that getting to the third one is even more difficult than getting to the first two, so there are usually no people there.

When going to any of them, it is advisable to take a sun umbrella with you, because you will not find shade. North Beach windy, the water seems colder. But in southern Porto Timoni there is no wind at all, so there are a lot of wasps. For those who don't want to climb the mountains, there is an option to get to the beach by catamaran or boat.

Bataria – beach with white stones

Bataria is cozy and clean, but the pebbles on it are large. The trestle beds and umbrellas are paid, almost all are laid out on the stones. When entering the water, pebbles can cause trouble: pebbles can injure feet, especially for children. It is better to immediately purchase rubber shoes for swimming.

But the views are simply fantastic: azure water contrasts with white rocks. Wonderful views of nature! The photos come out great. However, there are also disadvantages.

The beach is small, there are a lot of people during the day. The sunbeds provided are uncomfortable, the umbrellas are old and sometimes broken. There is no toilet or shower. There is only a cafe where you can visit the toilet. But there are changing cabins on Bataria. But in terms of transport accessibility no questions, there is parking above the beach.

Rovinia – the beauty of wild nature

Rovinia Beach is a small pebble and rocky beach. Buses do not go here, but you can easily get there by car, boat (sea taxi) or on foot. Parking is available nearby. White pebbles, blue sea, tempting grottoes. The water is crystal clear, there are no algae, it would be a shame not to snorkel and try to catch fish with your hands! The sea is deep.

A secluded place, but still you can’t call it paradise. There is dirt and in terms of landscaping there is something to complain about. There are no sunbeds or umbrellas. In addition, due to the fact that the beach is wild, there are no buoys or restrictions for boats. Everyone who wants to motor boat scurries along the shore. Sometimes this creates a danger: people are in the water, and a boat is passing nearby. You never know how it might end.

Without instructions from the locals, Rovinia Beach is difficult to find, because there are no signs. The road to the beach itself is picturesque and runs through olive groves. You can buy food on a small boat that brings snacks and drinks. They sell decent sandwiches, inexpensive beer and iced coffee.

Sandy beaches of Corfu

Those who do not like pebbles, but have chosen Corfu for their holiday, will find good sandy beaches on the island: noisy and secluded, popular and uncrowded.

Agios Georgios – a secluded place to relax

This sandy beach is clean and large. There are inclusions of pebbles at the entrance to the water. There are usually few people here.

Employees of hotels, shops and tourist shops do not know Russian words at all. Our compatriots usually relax on east coast, and we offer tours there.

You can get to Agios Georgios at any time of the day or night by taxi, in about twenty minutes. Corfu is all serpentines and rocks, so if you have a phobia of heights, you may feel uncomfortable.

The entry into the sea is beautiful, but there can be waves in this part of the island. Although for many this is a plus. Of course, you won’t be able to surf, but you can ride the waves with small children. Dolphins swim past. They sometimes put on their amazing show for vacationers.

The sea is shallow for the next ten meters, then the depth begins. You can always find a shower with fresh water to rinse off.

Less crowded Gardenos

This beach is ideal for a break from the noise of popular places on the Corfu coast. They rest here local residents and tourists who live nearby. It is not one of those beaches that people travel to from the other end of Corfu. Gardenas is huge, completely sandy - sand both on the shore and in the sea. The water is warmer than in Paleokastritsa.

If you go there by car, it is better to take umbrellas and blankets with you. Umbrellas conveniently stick into the sand, you can save on rent. Open space, the wind blows almost always.

There are shops and restaurants in front of the beach entrance. There is a shower and changing room. Fish and other marine life can be seen in the water.

On the shore there is a small and simple restaurant with very reasonable prices. You can order takeaway and enjoy your food while looking at the sea from your sun lounger.

Mirtiotissa – no need to be shy

Stunning beach, one of the best and most picturesque in all of Greece. The main part of Myrtiotissa is given over to nudists. Be prepared for this. The beach is modest, cozy, with a sandy, gentle approach to the sea.

A special feature of the beach is its secluded location: you can only get here by rented car or moped. By the way, in order to go down to the sea, you will have to overcome a sharp descent, and a scooter with a weak engine may then not be able to climb up. Umbrellas here are surprisingly free, they are handed out to everyone at the entrance, but you have to pay for the opportunity to lie on a sun lounger.

This is one of the nicest resorts in Corfu with sandy beaches. There is a bar with drinks and snacks, and a restaurant along the road. Due to its specificity, Myrtiotissa is often visited by tourists from Western Europe and representatives of sexual minorities. However, there are many families with children.

Another wonderful beach is Paradise. Translated - " paradise beach" Tourists love it for its soft sand, convenient access to the sea and clean water. In addition, the beach is very exotic and secluded.

It is important that you cannot get there by land; you will only have to get there by sea.

If you are arriving by boat, remember that it is forbidden to land on the shore. However, if there are no people on Paradise, an exception can be made.

According to the rules, you need to anchor at a distance of fifty meters and swim there, like Robinson Crusoe. This means that you won’t be able to take anything with you. The most best time for mooring - early morning. A taxi boat will cost fifteen euros for each passenger, and renting the entire boat for a day will cost about 80 euros. It’s convenient to moor, you can plan your time as you want.

The left side of Paradise beach is more “civilized” and gently sloping: there are sun loungers and umbrellas. The right half is deserted, there are large stones in the sea. In general, the beach is long and generally pleasing to the eye, but if you want to explore the shore better, take shoes with you for walking on the rocks. Sheer snow-white cliffs, dense greenery, a long narrow strip of coastline - your heart will forever remain here!

Marathias

Wide clean sandy beach with a pleasant entry into the sea. It is easy to get here by car or scooter. There are few tourists here, it is quiet and cozy. Most of the visitors are Greeks, and almost no Slavs. Clear water with occasional small waves and wind. The depth near the shore is shallow, so Marathias is suitable for both small children and old people.

A huge space where you can play beach games or just sunbathe. Almost everyone praises the stunning “golden” sand of Marathias. There are plenty of bars and restaurants here. Relaxing music is often played. Overall a fantastic beach for all ages and safe for children. A sunbed with an umbrella can be rented here for 3.

Pebble beach? Many people think that there is only discomfort with it - it’s uncomfortable to lie down and it’s painful to walk. Of course, on sandy beaches it is softer for vacationers to lie on, and it may be more pleasant to walk, but not everything is smooth there: you can stumble upon food waste left by unscrupulous tourists, or shards of broken glass and other sharp things. On a pebble beach, all objects are clearly visible, so the risk of injury is much less, of course, if you look at your feet.

Pebble beach: three pros

  • the water in such places is always clean and transparent, even at the height of the holiday season;
  • relaxing on a pebble beach, you can warm up your whole body. High temperature, weak radioactive radiation from porphyry and granite in the pebbles, the pleasant mechanical effect of warm pebbles - all this carries not only vivid sensations, but also a healing effect;
  • Staying on a pebble beach is a good preventive measure, as well as a way to treat many diseases. According to medical research, the massaging effect of pebbles has a beneficial effect in the treatment of flat feet, bronchial asthma, migraines, joint diseases and even epilepsy.

How to treat yourself on a pebble beach?

Start your wellness treatments on beaches with small pebbles, and then gradually move on to larger ones.

Walk on sea pebbles, heated by the sun, barefoot - first for a few minutes a day, and then increase the daily norm of such a natural massage to half an hour.

Walking barefoot is beneficial in principle, and walking barefoot on sea pebbles has enormous health benefits: blood circulation is normalized, all organs begin to perform their functions better, breathing becomes easier. Any compaction on the feet decreases, the joints become more mobile. After just a week of walking on pebbles barefoot, you will feel an influx of strength and energy.

Sunbathe on the pebble beach because it's a "free spa." After lying on pebbles heated to +40 - +50°C, you will receive a powerful massage effect on the blood and lymphatic vessels. Under the influence of such a “passive” massage, the body’s activity increases, metabolism and sweating are stimulated, kidney function improves, excess fluid is removed from the body, due to which swelling disappears. In addition, sunbathing helps increase joint mobility.

Jump on round stones for 10 minutes, repeat this procedure 2-3 times a day. This will help improve blood circulation in the pelvic organs.

After lying on the pebbles, take a shower (at a water temperature of 37-36 ° C) or swim in a pond in warm water. Then rest in the shade for 30-60 minutes.

Relax on the pebble beach with pleasure, recharge with health and positivity!

Initially, in this article we wanted to list all existing beaches in Montenegro. But when we started writing it, we realized that we couldn’t cope:

  • The length of the coastline of Montenegro is about 73 kilometers.
  • And almost all of it is divided into beaches: small and large; sand, pebble and concrete; urban, private, wild and nudist.
  • The number of popular beaches alone has long exceeded a hundred (117, to be exact).

Therefore, in this article we decided to write first of all about the general features of Montenegrin beaches and the characteristic differences between beaches on different Rivieras. By the way, a little further in the article, in the Riviera section, you can admire unique three-dimensional panoramas.

We will list the beaches themselves in relation to a specific city or Riviera.

Laws on beaches in Montenegro: cleaning and sunbeds

Montenegro is a country that lives exclusively on tourism. Therefore, the convenience of tourists is treated with the utmost care. Let's look at the beach laws:

  1. All coastline- exclusively state property. There are practically no private beaches in Montenegro.
  2. The state often leases beaches, but the requirements for rented beaches are very serious.
  3. By law, beaches are cleaned every day during the tourist season. In reality - twice a day, morning and evening.
  4. No more than 50% of the beach area can be occupied by paid sun loungers. The rest of the place is for vacationers with a towel.
  5. On hotel grounds, the entire beach may be filled with sun loungers, but then they are free.
  6. Entrance to any beach and access to the sea is free for everyone. You can't even build decorative fences.

These laws are violated very rarely. And in exceptional cases: it is generally closed to visitors (you can only get there on an excursion or by booking a table in a restaurant), some of the beaches nearby are paid (you will have to buy a sunbed), you can also get to the King’s beach near Villa Milocer only by paying for sunbeds (120 euros per set) and Queen's Beach is for villa guests only. There are plenty of free beaches nearby.

But all these exceptions apply only to some elite beaches for very rich people.

As a conclusion: no matter where you vacation, you can easily find a free and comfortable beach for relaxation.

Prices on the beaches - how much does a sunbed and umbrella cost?

Prices on the beaches depend greatly on how busy they are. The more vacationers, the more expensive. Sun loungers are often sold in sets of 2 sun loungers and an umbrella.

Types of beaches in Montenegro: sandy, pebble and concrete.

There are almost no sandy beaches in Montenegro. They can only be found in the south of the country, near Ultsyn - this is the famous Velika Plazha (Big Beach).

All other beaches are pebble, mixed or concrete (on pontoons). No matter how many reviews or descriptions of hotels/beaches they write about soft sand, you still can’t believe it. Sand may be imported. It is usually delivered in May, and by July or August it is washed away.

You shouldn’t expect that a beach with imported sand will be sandy based on tourist reviews or photos - one year sand may be brought to the beach, but the next year it won’t be.

How do you get “sandy beaches” in Montenegro?

The shore of almost any natural beach in Montenegro is rocky and uneven. Well, what did you want from a country of mountains by the sea?

This is inconvenient for tourists. In order to somehow rectify the situation, beach tenants bring here whole truckloads of small pebbles and sand in the spring. Pebbles are poured from below, sand from above.

By the end of July, beginning of August, the sand is washed away and mixed with pebbles. It turns out to be a sand and pebble beach. The pebbles will be the size of buckwheat or peas.

Pros of sand and pebble beaches

Have you ever wondered why you need sand on the beach? Especially if there are no children with you, and you yourself have long since passed the age when you make beads.

U sandy beaches Along with all their advantages, there are also a lot of disadvantages. Sand constantly gets into bags and towels, flies into your eyes, and raises turbidity and dirt into the sea.

Sand and pebble beaches are some of the most comfortable in the world. Especially if you relax on sun loungers. Clean water and the absence of “sand whirlwinds” await you. And various debris that is dangerous for feet is much more noticeable on pebbles.

Concrete beaches in Montenegro.

Concrete beaches too great option. This is when there are sun loungers on the beach, and we go down into the water along a ladder or steps.

Does it cause hostility? At first we did too. Exactly until the moment we realized that it was like swimming in a pool, but at the same time in real sea water.

Such beaches are convenient for people who can swim and prefer to pay for sunbeds. Although we often saw vacationers with a towel on concrete beaches. Most often in and.

A definite advantage of this option is the absence of sand getting into your eyes, mouth, towel and bag and steep descents - you do not have to go several tens of meters into the sea.

The most common such beaches are in and. The largest and most famous is Ploce beach, which is located 12 km from. We recommend: the beach is beautiful, well equipped and not too expensive.

Rivieras in Montenegro

In Montenegro, beaches are usually divided into Rivieras based on the name of the nearest large city. Each Riviera has its own advantages and disadvantages, which are worth considering when you choose your future holiday destination. Let's try to briefly go over the main points:

Budva Riviera

The following cities are usually included in the Budva Riviera:

  • - one of the most;
  • and Milocher - luxury recreation centers;
  • Petrovac is a resort considered healing due to its olive and pine groves;
  • and - small resort villages, which back in 1935 won the Grand Prix for the most beautiful beach in Europe.
  • Sutomore is one of the cheapest resorts in Montenegro. There are good sand and pebble beaches here, but there are a lot of tourists.

We will look at the beaches of Sutomore and their surroundings from a bird's eye view:

The Budva Riviera is considered one of the most famous and popular in Montenegro and is famous primarily for its sand and pebble beaches (the sand is often imported).

The beaches in Boka Kotorska are mostly concrete. There are practically no sand and pebble options. This is partially compensated by beautiful scenery all around - mountains surround the bay on all sides.

We will admire the bay from the city pier. By the way, such tourist liners enter the harbor very, very often.

Herceg-Nova Riviera

There is confusion on the Internet with cities belonging to the Hercegnovskaya Riviera. For some reason, they often include Risan, which is located on the territory of the community and quite far from. With confidence, the Herceg Novi Riviera includes:

  • - marvelous beautiful city on the slope of a low mountain, which is often called the botanical garden of Montenegro.
  • Igalo is a health resort in Montenegro. Here you can enjoy mineral waters and healing mud.
  • Meline
  • Kumbor

The beaches of the Herceg-Novska Riviera are small, but quite diverse. Here, more and more often, concrete beaches are starting to come across, sometimes sand and pebble options with imported sand. There are also several natural pebble beaches (for example,).

The beaches of Ulcinj are covered with basalt sand. It is dark gray in color and is considered healing. A whole complex of minerals (iodine, calcium salts and carbonates) in such sand have a beneficial effect on the musculoskeletal system.

Theoretically, the beach season on the Ulcinj Riviera lasts for six months - from April to November, but we did not dare to test this statement personally.

Sandy beaches

The surface layer of a sandy beach on land and partly in water consists of sand. Sandy beaches are the most popular and sought-after vacation spots by the sea. As a rule, they are well equipped and located in close proximity to hotels and hotel complexes.

This type of beach has a gentle entrance into the water - and that is why it is convenient and safe for children. Plus, kids love playing around in the soft sand and building sand castles and cities.

However, the popularity of such beaches has negative sides: during the peak season they are usually crowded, and the water off the coast is not always clean and transparent - the sand muddies the water and reduces visibility. In addition, small grains of sand get under clothes and into shoes, which also causes some inconvenience.

White sandy beaches

The white sandy beaches have soft sand of a unique, milky color, and crystal clear water of a special, azure hue. Snow-white sand does not cloud the water, and therefore visibility near the shore can reach 10-15 meters. These types of beaches are good for snorkeling and diving. Picturesque landscapes and cozy bays make the white sandy beaches a paradise.

Sandy volcanic beaches

Beaches with black, red and even green sand are extremely rare. All of them are of volcanic origin. It's all about the impurities that fell on the coast as a result of eruptions of nearby volcanoes that occurred many centuries ago... They differ from ordinary sandy beaches only in the color of the sand, which creates a unique contrast with the turquoise sea waves. The only disadvantage of this type of beach is that the water off the coast is quite muddy. However, there is an opinion that dark volcanic sand helps treat a number of diseases.

Sandy and shell beaches

The surface layer of the sand-shell beach consists of small shells and sand formed as a result of the destruction of shells by waves. This type of beach has a significant drawback: shell rock is usually sharp - it is unsafe to walk on the beach barefoot, it is better to wear special slippers. But on the beach you can find a lot of beautiful shells and shells - which will certainly be interesting for children.

Pebble and rocky beaches

The surface layer of a pebble beach consists of pebbles, which are rock fragments rounded to varying degrees with a diameter of 1 to 10 cm. The sharp corners of the fragments are rounded under the influence of coastal sea waves. Sea pebbles are generally flat in shape. Depending on the size of the pebbles prevailing on the beach, the coasts can be large-pebble or small-pebble.

One of the main advantages of pebble beaches is clean and clear water. On beaches of this type it is good to snorkel and explore the underwater world - visibility allows. In addition, on pebble beaches, as a rule, there are significantly fewer vacationers than on sandy beaches. Some pebble beaches are completely “wild”. However, there are some inconveniences. Walking on pebbles hot in the sun is not only inconvenient, but sometimes even dangerous - which is why for a comfortable stay on the coast it is necessary to use special slippers.

Sand and pebble beaches

Sand and pebble beaches usually consist of a mixture of pebbles and sand. However, sometimes this type of beach is a mixture of loose sand on the coast and a pebbly seabed. Sand and pebble beaches are suitable for families with children - the gentle entrance to the sea is safe for children. The advantage of this type of beach is that pebbles, mixed with sand and heated in the sun, pleasantly massage the body, providing a therapeutic effect. However, it must be remembered that in the event of a storm, pebbles lying on the bottom will most likely be washed ashore by strong waves.

Grassy beaches

Grass beaches are most often soft grassy areas with entry into the water either from wooden piers or concrete platforms. This type of beach is valued primarily for its natural coverage. They are usually shady - the crowns of trees growing right on the coast provide life-saving shade. However, it must be taken into account that grass beaches do not warm up very well, so in not too hot weather the ground can be cool. The infrastructure of grass beaches is well developed only in large resort centers. Most often, grass beaches are located on the shores of fresh water bodies - lakes and rivers.
