Nice, quiet, peaceful hotel overlooking the ocean. Of the minuses - neither the beach nor the ocean itself is suitable for swimming - there are always huge waves, reefs, rocks, stones. The food is so-so - you could safely take only breakfast and eat in cafes or fruit, BUT in the area of the hotel, within walking distance, there is practically not a single shop, tent, cafe, or even just fruit sellers. The hotel is really very remote from civilization. The pool is small. But in general - a great holiday for those who want to escape from the hustle and bustle and enjoy wildlife, beaches, ocean, sunsets.

I went to Sri Lanka in February 2016 for a seminar and chose the Induruwa Hotel to stay. Upon arrival at the hotel, I was very quickly accommodated in a deluxe room on the second floor overlooking the ocean. The staff speaks some Russian, although everyone speaks fluent English. The room was cleaned every day, with towels and bed linen changed. The food was ok, the food was delicious, although for me the food was spicy. I managed to splash around in the ocean a little, but that was when there were no waves. Mostly I sunbathed by the pool under the palm trees, palm trees create wonderful shade, an atmosphere of peace and tranquility.

The rooms are far from new. It is better not to live in the left wing on the 4th floor if you are facing the sea: there is no roof on the roof and the crows that live there walk on the roof and drive you crazy with the noise. Breakfast is the same, normal prices a la carte. The staff is friendly and adequate. The ocean is stormy, but clean and beautiful. The beach is cleaned, unlike neighboring establishments. Induruwa is a small village; for all your shopping you have to go to Bentota by tuk-tuk (10 minutes).

I vacationed at the Induruwa hotel in Sri Lanka in December 2015 with my wife. There is nothing to complain about the hotel, it is perfectly located on the beautiful coast, very clean, the rooms are spacious and all of them overlook the sea. They simply did not pay attention to the shabby and old furniture. The tour was taken with breakfast and dinner included. The food was decent and there was a lot of delicious food. There is almost nothing outside the hotel area. The nearest store is in Bentota, you can get there by tuk-tuk, this pleasure costs 100 rupees. The prices seemed very high. Alcohol is also very, very expensive. People who love parties and noisy fun parties will obviously be bored here. There is no animation at all. But the Internet connection in the lobby is pretty good. Nothing compares to the beauty of this paradise, warm ocean, soft sand, deserted beaches with palm trees, which did not pass until the end of the holiday. The country is exotic, colorful but, unfortunately, very poor!

When buying a tour, we were promised hotel 4 , upon arrival I already realized that this information was a little exaggerated. In fact, the hotel is a solid three. I consider myself a picky person and therefore was a little upset when I saw the outdated interior. But if you miss the nuances, you can give the hotel the highest score for cleanliness and neatness. At first we were accommodated in a room with a view of a palm tree, but we asked to change to something better, they accommodated us, and at no extra charge. Apart from the pool and the ocean, there is no entertainment in the hotel; there is no animation at all. The hotel itself is very quiet, one might even say that this is its “feature”, there is an opportunity to merge with nature. The beach is located right next to the hotel, and is even considered part of the hotel territory. Despite the fact that we expected more from the hotel, in the end we had a great rest!

Aparthotel Long Beach Resort(Sri Lanka) is a tranquil beach hotel located not too far from scenic spots and interesting sights. People come here to swim in the ocean, travel around the island and study its nature, history and culture. You will get acquainted with the impressions of tourists and their reviews about this hotel in our article.

Hotels in Sri Lanka

There are not so many luxury hotels on the island, and they belong to several well-known chains with a worldwide reputation. They are usually more expensive than in resort countries such as Vietnam or Thailand. Tourists recommend choosing at least a “four”, since then you can hope for decent service and green, well-groomed territory. In addition, you should pay special attention to the location of the hotel relative to the coast, as well as whether there is a good beach there. The food they serve is mainly breakfast. But some hotels operate an all-inclusive or half-board system. In the area we are describing near Long Beach there are five and four star hotels. This is Fortress with a good spa center, as well as Koggala Beach. Lots of cheap, inexpensive guesthouses. One of the popular hotels is Long Beach Resort 3* (Sri Lanka).

Koggala

This resort area The island is located south of the country's capital, Colombo. It is famous throughout the world for its beautiful five-kilometer-long beach. Different people flock here - those who like to sunbathe without any problems, those who want to spend time on the ocean, and those who prefer to rush through the waves on boards. This area is named after the lake, located parallel to the ocean and the beach. It also stretches for five to six kilometers along the sea. It is known to tourists due to the many colorful exotic birds that live here. Tourists are specially taken here on environmental excursions. The lake has long been favored by hermits, so there are many hermitages and Buddhist temples and shrines here. Legends say that Buddhism in Sri Lanka began to spread from this place. It is here, in such a spiritual atmosphere and surrounded by wild nature, that The Long Beach Resort 3* hotel (Sri Lanka) is located. Most big city in the vicinity - Halle. It is located twelve kilometers from the hotel, and you can go there either by tuk-tuk or by bus. There is an ancient fortress, a Christian church built by the Danes, and various museums. The most popular of them is dedicated to the folk art of the Sinhalese.

Location and territory

The Long Beach Resort hotel (Sri Lanka) is located right on the seashore. It is surrounded by a beautiful tropical garden. Tourists call the location of the hotel simply excellent. Imagine that you are leaving your room, taking a few steps on the emerald grass, then on the sand, and here it is - the ocean! We can say that the hotel is located between the road and the sea. The hotel area is small, but extremely neat and well-groomed. The central staircase offers extraordinary views of the ocean. Near the reception there are ponds with carp and small turtles. Based on the location of the buildings in relation to the sea, the Long Beach resort can be classified into different star categories. Buildings with a “sea view” are “four”, and the rest are “three”. Moreover, the classification of hotels in Sri Lanka is very arbitrary. The hotel is located far from the airport, so the transfer takes about four hours.

What's within walking distance

Very close by is the five-star Fortress Hotel. Guests of the Long Beach Resort go there to take pictures and swim in the pools. To the right of the hotel - beautiful park with access to the beach where you can collect corals. On the left are a couple of good supermarkets and restaurants. Two hundred meters from the hotel there is a bank with a good exchange rate. Not far from the Long Beach Resort (Sri Lanka) there are several temples and a turtle farm that are interesting for tourists. On both sides of the hotel (about a kilometer) there are villages with shops and souvenir shops. There you can also find “Food City” minimarkets, where you can buy food, wine and everything that is missing in the hotel. Near the hotel there is a lake that gave its name to the entire region - Koggala. There you can ride a boat, explore the temple, admire the monitor lizards, and also get acquainted with local crafts. For example, see the production process of cinnamon and cinnamon oil and purchase all these exotic spices on the spot.

The Long Beach Resort hotel (Sri Lanka) has two hundred and eight rooms. They are of different categories - there are suites, superior rooms, and standard ones. Most rooms are equipped with TV, small refrigerator, air conditioning. There is an electric kettle, which is very convenient to use in the evenings or mornings, as well as a safe. But most vacationers advise booking rooms with sea views. They usually have best service and well located. These buildings have a natural grass carpet on which there are wooden sun loungers for sunbathing. If the noise of the ocean waves does not disturb you at night, then you will be very pleased. And the buildings, from which the sea is not visible, overlook the road. Therefore, in these rooms you can often hear the noise of passing traffic. But even such rooms are quite bearable for living.

Children under twelve years old live with their parents for free. A special crib can be placed in your room at your request. The room is cleaned every day. At the same time, put half a liter of drinking water per person per day in the refrigerator. The rooms are cool and a great place to relax after the beach and sunbathing.

Nutrition

Many of those who come to the Long Beach Resort (Sri Lanka) take the Ash Bi system. Tourists say that it is very convenient for those who want to spend time on the beach or on excursions. Plus, you can have lunch or dinner in a different place each time. Breakfasts are less rich, but evening meals are very good. In the mornings they give you standard food - bacon and eggs, tea and coffee, pancakes. Everything is very tasty, and there is enough for vacationers. For dinner there is pork, beef, chicken in various forms, and kebabs. The main thing to remember is that local cuisine very spicy, like in India or Thailand.

Every day there is fish and seafood - crabs, squid, shrimp. Wonderful cakes, jellies, puddings and chocolate covered nuts. Fruits are mainly papaya and pineapples. There are many restaurants near the hotel and in neighboring villages. Guests recommend Seafood - they have very reasonable prices, large portions and delicious food. Some tourists advise taking “all inclusive”. They write that lunch and dinner at the hotel are very tasty, and the money is cheaper than eating “outside”. In the evening there is live music in the restaurant.

Service

The Long Beach Resort 4* hotel (Sri Lanka) has parking and services such as car rental. There is free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel. The reception is open day and night. The hotel has a laundry, dry cleaning, exchange office. But tourists advise going to the bank because the exchange rate is better there. Staff can deliver newspapers, magazines, and meals directly to your room. There is a special room where luggage is stored. This is very convenient for tourists who arrive early or leave late. There is a special playroom that kids love. For those who cannot imagine a holiday without sports, there is a tennis court. The spa at this hotel received particular praise. It has everything you need for fitness, a sauna, good massage therapists and a special wellness complex. No wonder this hotel is also called Long (Sri Lanka).

Staff

Reviews call the staff at the Long Beach Resort 4* (Sri Lanka) attentive and efficient. Tipping does not affect the quality of their work at all. Here they don’t “twirl” swans out of towels, but they lay out various beautiful words in English from exotic flower petals on the bed. There are special scourge fighters who monitor order and safety on the beach. The hotel makes a special “compliment” for newlyweds - they bring a cake to their room.

Beach and sea

Hotel The Long Beach Resort 4* (Sri Lanka) has private beach, which is very rare for the island. But keep in mind that this is the ocean, and the Koggala coast is loved by surfers and those who want to swim in big waves. Therefore, if you arrive with children, you will have to travel to neighboring beaches. Unawatuna is ten minutes away, Mirisa is forty minutes away. But there may be jellyfish on this beach. If you don’t want to leave the hotel, there is a natural lagoon a little away where you can safely splash around. There are beach boys on the shore near the hotel who will provide you with sun loungers and umbrellas if you wish. They are located under palm trees, on a green lawn, around which there are guards on duty. In addition, the beach itself is very beautiful, spacious, just like in the picture. The sun is fierce and you have to be careful, but overall the temperature is very comfortable. The hotel has two swimming pools where you can swim not only during the day, but also at night. One of them is small, and the second is larger. Reviews about it are positive - swimming there is comfortable and pleasant. Very clean, tidy, and not very crowded.

Prices and shopping

The cost of a hotel room starts from four and a half thousand rubles per day. If you want to go to nearby beaches and shops, use tuk-tuks. Chauffeurs will not only take you where you need to go, but will also wait while you go shopping or soak up the sun. Price - from one hundred rupees. However, excursions and food will be offered to you right on the beach. For example, large shrimp cost five hundred rubles per kilogram, and mangoes cost one hundred. A bottle of water in a mini-market costs seventy-five rupees, and a beer in a liquor store costs about two hundred and fifty. If you buy an excursion from a tour operator, then two days of travel will cost you $275 per person. The same trip, purchased at a bureau near the hotel The Long Beach Resort 3* (Sri Lanka) will cost one hundred sixty-five dollars, and you will be shown waterfalls and beautiful views. When buying fruits, souvenirs, and seafood, you need to bargain. If you want to buy Ayurvedic cosmetics, it is better to do this at a pharmacy - such products there are several times cheaper than in specialized stores.

Excursions

As we have already written, tourists appreciate the Long Beach Resort 4* hotel (Sri Lanka, Koggala) also for the fact that it is an excellent place for independent trips, especially along the southern coast of the island. Surfing enthusiasts are advised to go to Weligama and Mirissa. Matara and Galle are good for shopping. IN last town You can explore the fort, wander inside, and buy souvenirs. And in Matara there is a bus station from where it goes intercity transport. There are three types of buses - red, state and two commercial. There are also express trains. You can get anywhere on them without any problems. In Dondra there is such an object of tourist interest as a fifty-meter high lighthouse - the southernmost point of Lanka. In Matara - interesting temple on an island with a bridge. In addition, the hotel has a tour desk. It can be used for longer trips - to Kandy, Sigiriya, Yallu Nature Reserve. But you need to know that usually such excursions are taken at night - after all, the drive to these beauties takes from three to five hours. That's why the guides try to get there early so that you get there before it's too hot. The journey to Kandy and Sigiriya takes two days, with a stay at a hotel with panoramic views.

Long Beach Resort (Sri Lanka): reviews

Tourists who have stayed at this hotel claim that upon arriving home they want to go back again. They remember with nostalgia the excellent location of the hotel, good tasty cuisine, and polite staff. The local population is described as friendly. The hotel is beautiful and clean beach. Things and territory are protected very well. There are no parties here, so the hotel is suitable, rather, not for young people, but for a relaxing holiday at sea. Nevertheless, travelers who have been here recommend visiting this complex. After all, many tourists like the resort island and its hotels - it’s not for nothing that they call it Long Beach Resort Spa(Sri Lanka) a piece of heaven.

Jungle Beach - small sandy beach on the southern coast of Sri Lanka, located in a bay among tropical vegetation. The distance to it from the popular Unawatuna beach is about a couple of kilometers.

The distinctive features of Jungle Beach are the beautiful and calm Indian Ocean in this place, comfortable for swimming and snorkeling, as well as an interesting path to it, passing through the jungle, where you can get acquainted with the rich flora and fauna of the island.

Description of the beach

Jungle Beach consists of two small sandy areas separated by a rock ridge about 100 meters long. The length of the first section, closest to the Unawatuna beach, is about 50 meters, the second is a little longer, about 100 meters. The width of the beach is small and varies from a couple of meters to about 20-25.

Due to the location of the beach in a bay protected by a coral reef, the Indian Ocean here is unusually calm, there are either no waves at all or they are very small. Therefore, Jungle Beach is considered one of the best places in the south and southwest of Sri Lanka, where you can swim comfortably without fighting the waves.

However, it is worth considering that in the water, as well as on the coastal strip, there are stones in the sand, so you need to be careful not to hit them. In addition, there may be coral in some places, so special shoes will not hurt. The entry into the water at Jungle Beach is gentle, the depth increases gradually.

The sand on Jungle Beach is light brown, dense, comfortable to walk on - your feet won’t sink in. The color of the ocean differs at different times and at different depths - from light blue shades to rich blue-greens.

The beach has enough areas with natural shade from the spreading tropical trees that surround the shore, so finding a place where you can hide from direct sunlight is not difficult.

In the morning hours, there are usually no people at Jungle Beach. The first vacationers appear here around noon. There are also a lot of people, especially local residents, observed here on weekends. Sri Lankan youth prefer to relax on the far side of the beach, where they often have something like picnics: in addition to swimming, they fry meat, play drums or play ball.

Infrastructure

In reviews from several years ago you can find information that Jungle Beach has minimal infrastructure: sun loungers, a beach cafe, a shower and a toilet. All this appeared here at a time when problems with the shoreline were observed on the neighboring popular Unawatuna beach (some of the sand was washed away by the ocean and the width of the beach was greatly reduced), and the local population was looking for alternative options to offer to tourists. However, after the shore of Unawatuna Beach was resurfaced in 2015, the popularity of Jungle Beach greatly decreased and the entire infrastructure disappeared.

On at the moment the beach is not equipped in any way; moreover, a sufficient amount of garbage often accumulates here due to the sufficient distance from roads and irregular cleaning on it.

However, thanks to the soft sandy surface and the presence large quantity trees on the beach, here you can comfortably sit simply on a towel or blanket in natural shade.

There are often boats moored at Jungle Beach that you can rent for boat trip- return to Unawatuna this way or sail further from the coast for diving or snorkeling.

On the way to the beach there are souvenir shops and stalls where you can buy local fruits or drinks. According to reviews of tourists who have been here, an interesting pattern is that the price for the same goods decreases as you approach Jungle Beach.

Things to do at Jungle Beach

Jungle Beach is a great place for those who love to snorkel. Thanks to the absence of waves and the presence of a coral reef nearby, you can fully enjoy the beauty and diversity underwater world Indian Ocean. Some tourists note that you can see more than 20 species of marine life, including butterfly fish, surgeon fish, sea dragons and urchins, and even dangerous moray eels and stingrays.

Those who are partial to monkeys will also enjoy the beach: they are well-fed on Jungle Beach and willingly come down to tourists for treats.

Jungle Beach is perfect for photo shoots: turquoise ocean waters, hanging palm branches, picturesque boulders. The landscape is complemented by a small pond located nearby and covered with lotuses.

In addition, temples located near the beach will be interesting to visit. The closest of them is the Peace Pagoda, a stupa built by Japanese Buddhists, rising on a hill. The temple is accessible to everyone, plus its site offers a gorgeous view of the ocean. Also within walking distance of Jungle Beach are the Sri Viwekaramaya Temple, where you can see several different Buddha statues, paintings and murals, and the Yatagala Raja Maha Viharaya Temple, considered one of the oldest temples in Sri Lanka.

How to get to Jungle Beach in Sri Lanka

You can get to Jungle Beach from the large resort of Unawatuna. From the western part of the main beach of the village there is a path leading through the jungle and a small settlement. It is worth considering that somewhere on it there are quite extreme sections - ascents and descents over stones, “steps” made of tree roots. So it is advisable to hit the road in comfortable shoes, especially after rain.

There are signs to Jungle Beach along the entire path, so it’s impossible to get lost here. Along the way, in the tropical thickets you can see monkeys, porcupines, monitor lizards and other numerous lizards, and in some places you come across areas from which you can see gorgeous views to the ocean and bay. Having reached the snow-white Peace Pagoda, you need to turn left onto the descent directly to Jungle Beach. The entire journey from Unawatuna Beach takes 20-30 minutes.

Also from Unawatuna and neighboring settlements You can get to Jungle Beach by tuk tuk or taxi, they stop about 5 minutes walk from the beach.

For those who plan to visit not only Jungle Beach, good option Moving around the island will be by renting a motorbike. Rental offices can be found in any tourist place Sri Lanka.

In addition to land methods, you can get to Jungle Beach by water: there are always boats on the main beach of Unawatuna that will gladly take you here.

Video about Jungle Beach in Unawatuna in Sri Lanka

In Unawatuna, a popular resort village in Sri Lanka, there is a small, remote beach with beautiful name Jungle Beach. We were primarily interested in the picturesque mountain road, beautiful views the beach itself and wild monkeys. You can reach it on foot from Unawatuna in 20 minutes.

Road to Jungle beach

We followed the signs on foot. The route takes 20-30 minutes. First we go through the village, then we go up the hill. The asphalt road turns into a narrow path. The jungle begins to approach from all sides.

The trail is well maintained so that it does not become overgrown.

At some point you even need to cross a mountain stream

Barbed wire prevents the desire to get lost in the jungle

On the right on the hill you can see a Buddhist stupa

We went out onto a mountain dirt road

Jungle Beach Observation Deck

As you move along you can find a small observation deck. This is where the gorgeous views begin.

Amazing view! Jungle, huge stones on the shore, on which waves break with foam

The waves in Sri Lanka are always big and look impressive in such places

We take a few exotic photos and move on. It’s so hot here, I really want to plunge into the sea! Ahead we see a path going down towards the sea to Jungle Beach.

Jungle Beach: reviews and impressions

We've finally arrived! The sign with the Russian name is slightly alarming.

Machine translation Jungle Beach restaurant

Vacationers are predominantly Russian

Jungle beach is very small. But there are not many people there either

Sunbeds are free, you can bring your own food and drinks. Or maybe we were just lucky that no one noticed how we took them

The nature on Jungle Beach is exotic and significantly different from the main beach of Unawatuna

On the right side of the jungle beach there is always someone taking pictures on the rocks

Well, on the left side there are boats moored. You can rent them for diving or travel back to Unawatuna by sea

Diving and snorkeling are very popular at Jungle beach Unawatuna

And most importantly, there are small waves on the beach

Where can I order a transfer from the airport?

We use the service - KiwiTaxi
We ordered a taxi online and paid by card. We were met at the airport with a sign with our name on it. We were taken to the hotel in a comfortable car. You've already talked about your experience in this article.

Debris may be floating in the water

But there is one BUT. Since Jungle Beach is located on the other side of the bay from large city Galle, the water in this place can be quite dirty depending on the season and current. As everywhere near cities, the sea is heavily polluted.

On our visit, the current from Galle brought a lot of small debris ashore. We got little pleasure from swimming, because now with your foot, now with your hand you touch another bag or bottle in the water. However, according to feedback from our readers, garbage does not always happen.
