Beaches of Montenegro - where is better? Velika plaza - from Ulcinj to the very outskirts The best beach in Montenegro.

Photo article about holidays in Ulcinj (Montenegro) - about beaches, transport, accommodation, food and prices, my reviews and impressions.

Ulcinj(aka Ulcinj or Ulcinj) is a resort in the south of Montenegro on the border with Albania. Famous for its sandy beaches, 12 kilometers Velika Plaza, kite spots and the island Ada Boyana, where the official nudist beach is located.

Ulcinj is often called the warmest city in Montenegro, because there are many sunny days, the water in the sea warms up faster due to the black sand at the bottom, and when it rains in Budva and the Bay of Kotor, it may well be hot in Ulcinj.

And indeed, at the beginning of June, when I was there, nature in Ulcinj looked as if it was deep August. When everything is green and bright in Budva, in Ulcinj there is yellow burnt grass and dry leaves on the trees.

Features of Ulcinj

1. People (Albanians)

According to various sources, 70 or 80% of the city's population are Albanians. There are a huge number of cars here, and even more people. There are restaurants, bars, coffee shops, clubs at every step. If you go to Montenegro to hang out and visit establishments, then Ulcinj is no worse suited for these purposes than Budva.

When you get to the center of Ulcinj, it seems that you are somewhere in Turkey or Bosnia and Herzegovina. I managed to get that relaxed communication with local residents, which I so missed in Budva, in the south of the country.

2. English

Finally they spoke English to us here. Conversations in foreign languages help you feel like you are abroad or on vacation, otherwise in Budva it seemed as if you had never left home.

3. Prices are lower than in Budva

Ada Boyana— on the island there is a village of fishermen’s cottages where you can rent a wooden house. There are also fish restaurants there.☞

How to get to Ulcinj from the airport

Ulcinj is located at the same distance from two international airports Montenegro. To Podgorica - 72 km, to Tivat - 84 km

If you are planning a vacation in Ulcinj, it is more profitable to buy air tickets to Podgorica, because it’s faster to get from the capital to Ulcinj than from Tivat (but from Tivat it’s cheaper).

Small but amazing beautiful country Today tourists come to Montenegro from all over the world. Moreover, first of all, they go to enjoy nature and lie on clean beaches, although historical monuments there's a lot here.

It is worth noting that there are many beaches for a comfortable holiday (more than 100!), but we will tell you only about the most popular ones, recognized as the best among travelers.

Big Beach

This paradise in Montenegro is located near the Albanian border - just 5 km from Ulcinj.

Here, on the southernmost side of the Montenegrin coast, a strip of fine healing basalt sand stretches 13 km forward and 60 m wide. Volcanic sand is famous medicinal properties and is useful for arthritis, rheumatism and certain muscle diseases.

The depth here is shallow, so you can safely go here with children.

As for the resort itself, here tourists will find cozy bays and subtropical plants, charming stone houses on the hills, and recreation for every taste - for active youth, windsurfing fans and mothers with children. Don't forget to stop by the marina and see the wooden Kalimera boats.

Queen's Beach (note: Queen Milena's favorite place)

You will find it near the village of Chan, in the resort of Milocher. True, you will have to get there by sea, since it is surrounded by rocks and pine forests, or by staying at the hotel of the same name (note - “Kraljicina Plaza”).

Fantastic golden sand, selected small pebbles, inexpensive rental of umbrellas and sunbeds, clean beaches, saunas, a restaurant and other pleasures. The beach is not accessible - it is hidden from prying eyes.

Saint Stephen

A very unusual and original beach that attracts tourists with its key attraction is a hotel-city built right into the rock, which, in turn, is connected to the coast by a sandy thin isthmus.

The sand here has a red tint, and the length of the beach is more than 1100 m.

Vacationers have access to restaurants and cozy cafeterias, a diving club, and scooter rentals. A place favored by celebrities and ordinary tourists. Renting sunbeds with umbrellas is available, but a little expensive, and there is no shortage of changing cabins and showers/toilets.

However, if you don’t really like the prices on the beach, you can go a little further - to the second free beach with your own blanket and towel.

Becici

Perhaps the largest and beautiful beach on the Adriatic coast - the pearl of the Budva Riviera. Stretching over 1900m, with soft golden sand and small pebbles, it is made for a truly heavenly holiday.

Nearby there is a reputable tourist complex (cozy houses and comfortable hotels), parks, a large embankment, inexpensive attractions, restaurants, a market, diving, parasailing, etc.

And, of course, one cannot fail to note the ideal cleanliness, friendly staff, and developed infrastructure.

Mogren

You will find it 300 km from Budva.

The beach, where you won’t be able to have privacy (it’s usually crowded), is divided in half by a tunnel, and if your personal space is important to you, then go straight to Mogren 2.

The water here is turquoise and clear, just like in travel magazines, there are rocks all around, “overgrown” with greenery, and the climate is the most pleasant for relaxation.

Not only the beaches are covered with sand, but also the entry into the sea itself, which parents will be extremely happy about (it’s quite difficult for kids to walk on pebbles).

Tired of beach holiday, you can go to a cafe, a disco, fly on a parachute or ride on a catamaran.

Yaz

A very popular place among tourists.

More than 1 km of strips of pure sand, smoothly turning into small pebbles, turquoise water, Mediterranean greenery.

Visually, this (protected) beach of the Budva Riviera is divided into a recreation area “for everyone” and a recreation area for nudists.

The infrastructure will not disappoint you, as will nature with its open spaces, mountains and riot of colors. Renting an umbrella will cost you 2 euros, you can have an inexpensive snack in cozy cafes, and for kids this is one of the most comfortable places in Montenegro.

Ada Boyana

A specific beach with soft golden sand for fans of a “no swimsuit” holiday on the island-reserve.

One of the largest European nudist beaches, 4 km long, hidden in the village of Boyana. No “shackles” - no clothes, no social conventions. However, the recreation itself is the same here as everywhere else - getting a tan, swimming, diving, sailing and water skiing, surfing, etc.

Don't forget to check out the local restaurant - they serve very tasty fish dishes.

Red Beach

You will definitely want to return here, and more than once. This miracle is located between Bar and Sutomore - in a tiny cove. The name of the beach, of course, was given because of the shade of pebbles and sand.

Entry into the water is very convenient (the place is great for couples with kids), but due to the small size of the beach and its great popularity, it is not always comfortable.

And beware sea urchins! However, you need to be careful with them along the entire coast.

A place in the Przno valley - the most fantastic on the Lustica peninsula. This is where the warmest days are all year round.

Features of the beach: 350 m of strip, fine healing sand, shallow water (convenient for children and for those who simply swim like an “axe”), clean water, a hotel in direct proximity, olives and pine trees.

All beach equipment is present, there are toilets and showers, and there is a rescue service. Nearby there is a restaurant and cafe, convenient parking, and sports grounds.

Nearby, about 500-600 meters away, there is a more rocky, but also calmer (and cleaner) shore, where you can snorkel and enjoy underwater world, and then do yoga, for example, at special sites.

Kamenovo

Located in the town of Rafailovichi, 10 minutes from Budva.

The beach and seabed are soft, fine sand and pebbles. Gorgeous turquoise sea. Amazing nature. And, of course, constant sun. Well, what else do you need to have a good rest?

Cordiality local residents, delicious cuisine for every budget, shops, etc.

Don't forget to throw a coin into the sea - you will definitely want to come back here!

Bajova Kula

An extremely popular place (between Kotor and Perast), mainly among local residents. In the summer there is nowhere for an apple to fall.

The beach itself is pebble and its length is about 60 m.

The cleanest and warmest (because it is in a closed bay) sea, the fantastic aroma of laurel trees, the absence of buoys, a cozy cafe.

A strip of white-golden tropical sand 250 m long.

The beach is located in a closed valley; you can get to it along a narrow picturesque path. You can also get water from natural springs there.

The water is emerald, clean and warm. Excellent entry into the sea for children.

There is not as much infrastructure as we would like, but there is a cafe, shower and toilet.

Buljarica

Just 1 km from Petrovac. Pebble beach over 2 km long.

On the beach you will find a cafe, a restaurant and the necessary beach equipment.

The sea is clean and warm, a beautiful embankment, clean streets in the city. And walking around with a stroller, inhaling the aroma of pine needles, is a real pleasure.

As for food prices, they are not higher than in Moscow, and excursions are practically free.

We will be very pleased if you share your feedback about your favorite beaches in Montenegro!

There are perhaps not many countries in the world that could be proud of so many beautiful beaches. Most of them are included in various lists and ratings of the most clean beaches planets, they can be recognized by their characteristic blue flags installed on the territory. But the endless kilometers of beaches are famous not only for their cleanliness. Adriatic Sea. By the way, these places coastline tiny Montenegro quite small, most of its territory is still occupied by mountains, they are distinguished by such extraordinary natural diversity that you can find a coastline for literally every taste. Every corner of the small country, smaller than any region of Russia, is distinguished by its unique landscapes and local flavor. It seems as if every time you find yourself in a completely new state with an area, although no more than a couple of square kilometers, or even less. Of course, it will hardly be possible to describe all the beaches of Montenegro, but the most unusual and beautiful ones are still clearly worth mentioning. But remember, you obviously won’t be able to travel around all these beauties in a couple of days, no matter how hard you try, and in general this whole small, but such a unique country is clearly worth staying here as long as possible. Believe me, leave this paradise You won’t want land; it’s not for nothing that many Russians buy houses here and stay forever.
So oh the best beaches in Montenegro

Perhaps one of the best beaches in Montenegro, it has a coastline of 2 kilometers. In Becici you will find many hotels of various categories, as well as excellent cafes and restaurants serving local and international cuisine. Becici Beach is popular with locals and tourists of all ages, which is why it is always quite crowded, especially during the season.

If you want to admire the beauty ancient architecture against the backdrop of the turquoise clear and incredibly salty Adriatic Sea, you have two wonderful options. - the center of tourist Montenegro, is beautiful because it is located right next to the fortress wall and from the shore you can calmly admire churches and ancient houses with bright orange tiles.

Similar unique view of the stronghold island ancient civilization It also opens from the beaches. This is one of the most exclusive places on the entire coast of Montenegro and its calling card. There are 2 beaches near the island of Sveti Stefan with a total length of 600 m, separated by a path to the island itself. Golden sand and blue sea in this place create absolute harmony and set the mood for rest and relaxation.

Next to St. Stephen is King's beach or Milocer— 280 meters gorgeous beach on the territory of the former Royal Park with an area of 18 hectares, covered with pine forest and various types of exotic plants. A holiday on this beach costs 75 euros per day, including the rental of beach equipment, the rental of which is a prerequisite.

Perhaps, the cleanest water in Montenegro on Ploce beach, a couple of kilometers from Budva. Here the shore is made up of flat, large stones, which are quite convenient for entering the clear, clear water. open sea, not the bay. The waves here are higher, the water is somewhat cooler, but the views of the mountains are simply amazing. There are not so many tourists on the beach, which gives it another undeniable advantage.

Jaz Beach- one of the longest beaches in Montenegro, the length of which is about 1200 m. The beach is located a few kilometers from Budva towards Tivat and consists of 2 parts (which are separated by a rock ledge) - a traditional beach and a nudist beach. Clean waters, distance from the bustle resort town Several cafes, restaurants and mini-hotels located close to the beach make this beach convenient and attractive for vacationers.

- a small but beautiful sandy beach is located a few hundred meters from the Old Town of Budva and has a length of about 400 meters. The beach is famous for its clear water and picturesque views of the mountainous terrain. Mount Spas, located above the beach, is covered with pine trees, which, with the appropriate wind direction, spread an incredible aroma on the beach.

Although most of the beaches in Montenegro are pebbly, if you want to see the purest snow-white sand, you just need to drive towards the border with Albania. There, beaches covered with the finest sand stretch for several kilometers in length, a favorite place for surfers. In this place, it’s as if you find yourself in sunny Turkey.

And finally, if you want to enjoy not only swimming, but also massage and healing baths on the shore, then welcome to beach resorts.

Probably no other country in the world can boast such a variety of options.

Overview of the beaches of Montenegro: Ulcinj Riviera
Ulcinj Riviera is the southernmost and sunniest part of the Montenegrin seaside. Almost along its entire length, the coast is surrounded by olive groves, tall cypress trees and other bizarre Mediterranean vegetation. The beaches here are striking in their diversity - from a small rocky one in the Kruce area to many kilometers of fine sandy beach stretching from Ulcinj to the border with Albania.

The tour operator deliberately keeps silent about the real conditions of stay at the hotel, the hotel administration covers up these violations.
I'll start in order.
We are going to Montenegro with our seven-year-old son. A trip to Montenegro is my dream, which I cherished and cherished all year. I saved money all year. And I was sure in advance that the country would leave the most wonderful impressions.
I go to a travel agency to book a tour. I set the conditions for your stay: 2 weeks, preferably not very expensive, but always with air conditioning and a kitchen. The boy is picky about food, and in general, I don’t really trust public kitchens. The travel agency manager offers the most cheap option- bungalow in the hotel “Velika Plaza2**”, cost 57 thousand rubles for two, half board (I must say, for Turkey and Egypt - this is the cost of very decent hotels in the high season, far from two-star). I check the availability of all conditions and receive confirmation: there is a kitchen, air conditioning, shower and even a TV. The kitchen requires utensils, and there is a store on site that will provide me with everything I need. The hotel has private beach and a first aid station. Photos of the room in which we were to live were provided. I'm delighted! Hooray! My dream is coming true! With an open soul and a wonderful mood, we set off on a journey.
Arrived at the hotel (by the way, Russian speaking guide, who was supposed to accompany us to the hotel and help us settle in was absent). I was given a bungalow. Let's go... Shock! Where are those wonderful rooms that were shown to us? Where is the kitchen? Where is the air conditioner? We saw a room that looked like a crypt, with dirty painted walls. There are no lampshades on the light bulbs, there are pipes where the kitchen used to be, the furniture is shabby and half-broken, the shower does not work. What kind of TV are we talking about? I go to the Reception - the guide there barely speaks Russian. Somehow I explain that they made a mistake and provided the wrong number; I paid for something completely different. To which they answer me: “In the voucher “bungalow”, we provided “bungalow”.” I'm trying to prove that the bungalow is the same bungalow, but with different conditions. I get the answer: “If you want other conditions, pay extra, rooms with a kitchen are great on the beach in Montenegro at the moment no, we have to wait." There is nothing to do, we will wait for the room to become available, and at the same time for the guide, who will be unknown when. I contact the travel agency, report the problem, receive confirmation that I was placed in the wrong place, and that they will move me in the near future. I spend half the evening trying to get a boiler installed in my shower. After assurances at 10 o’clock in the evening that “5 minutes and everything will be done,” I only receive hot water at 3 o’clock in the morning. This is our first day of impressions - the mood is ruined.
Day two.
The hotel complex consists of a two-story building - standard rooms, bungalows (with or without a kitchen) and a complex of one-story houses with family apartments. hotel: safe at reception, two restaurants, two bars, cafe-patisserie, dance
sports grounds, free parking, first aid station, children's playground. Operates on a half board basis (buffet). Checkin - 14:00, check out - 12:00. Velika beach - perfect place for active sea holidays, in including such extreme hobbies as
kitesurfing.
IN THE BUNGAL: wooden houses, French and single beds, kitchenette (with or without), cable TV, air conditioning, terrace, shower. Maximum occupancy - 3 people.
In STD: rooms are located in the main building, French or separate beds, air conditioning, mini refrigerator, cable TV, balcony, shower, internet. Maximum occupancy - 3 people.
In APP: two-room suites are located in the main building, a bedroom with a French bed and a living room with a sofa and a kitchen, a refrigerator, a dining
desk, air conditioning, cable TV, balcony, shower. Maximum occupancy - 4 people.
IN FAMILY APP: three-room suite, 2 bedrooms and a living room, in the bedroom there is a French or separate beds, in the living room there is a sofa, kitchen, refrigerator, dining table, air conditioning, cable TV, balcony, shower. Maximum occupancy - 5 people.

Initially, in this article we wanted to list all existing beaches in Montenegro. But when we started writing it, we realized that we couldn’t cope:

  • The length of the coastline of Montenegro is about 73 kilometers.
  • And almost all of it is divided into beaches: small and large; sand, pebble and concrete; urban, private, wild and nudist.
  • The number of popular beaches alone has long exceeded a hundred (117, to be exact).

Therefore, in this article we decided to write first of all about the general features of Montenegrin beaches and the characteristic differences between beaches on different Rivieras. By the way, a little further in the article, in the Riviera section, you can admire unique three-dimensional panoramas.

We will list the beaches themselves in relation to a specific city or Riviera.

Laws on beaches in Montenegro: cleaning and sunbeds

Montenegro is a country that lives exclusively on tourism. Therefore, the convenience of tourists is treated with the utmost care. Let's look at the beach laws:

  1. The entire coastline is exclusively state property. There are practically no private beaches in Montenegro.
  2. The state often leases beaches, but the requirements for rented beaches are very serious.
  3. By law, beaches are cleaned every day during the tourist season. In reality - twice a day, morning and evening.
  4. No more than 50% of the beach area can be occupied by paid sunbeds. The rest of the place is for vacationers with a towel.
  5. On hotel grounds, the entire beach may be filled with sun loungers, but then they are free.
  6. Entrance to any beach and access to the sea is free for everyone. You can't even build decorative fences.

These laws are violated very rarely. And in exceptional cases: it is generally closed to visitors (you can only get there on an excursion or by booking a table in a restaurant), some of the beaches nearby are paid (you will have to buy a sunbed), you can also get to the King’s beach near Villa Milocer only by paying for sunbeds (120 euros per set) and Queen's Beach is for villa guests only. There are plenty of free beaches nearby.

But all these exceptions apply only to some elite beaches for very rich people.

As a conclusion: no matter where you vacation, you can easily find a free and comfortable beach for relaxation.

Prices on the beaches - how much does a sunbed and umbrella cost?

Prices on the beaches depend greatly on how busy they are. The more vacationers, the more expensive. Sun loungers are often sold in sets of 2 sun loungers and an umbrella.

Types of beaches in Montenegro: sandy, pebble and concrete.

There are almost no sandy beaches in Montenegro. They can only be found in the south of the country, near Ulcin - this is the famous Velika Plazha (Big Beach).

All other beaches are pebble, mixed or concrete (on pontoons). No matter how many reviews or descriptions of hotels/beaches they write about soft sand, you still can’t believe it. Sand may be imported. It is usually delivered in May, and by July or August it is washed away.

You shouldn’t expect that a beach with imported sand will be sandy based on tourist reviews or photos - one year sand may be brought to the beach, but the next year it won’t be.

How do you get “sandy beaches” in Montenegro?

The shore of almost any natural beach in Montenegro is rocky and uneven. Well, what did you want from a country of mountains by the sea?

This is inconvenient for tourists. In order to somehow rectify the situation, beach tenants bring here whole truckloads of small pebbles and sand in the spring. Pebbles are poured from below, sand from above.

By the end of July, beginning of August, the sand is washed away and mixed with pebbles. It turns out to be a sand and pebble beach. The pebbles will be the size of buckwheat or peas.

Pros of sand and pebble beaches

Have you ever wondered why you need sand on the beach? Especially if there are no children with you, and you yourself have long since passed the age when you make beads.

U sandy beaches Along with all their advantages, there are also a lot of disadvantages. Sand constantly gets into bags and towels, flies into your eyes, and raises turbidity and dirt into the sea.

Sand and pebble beaches are some of the most comfortable in the world. Especially if you relax on sun loungers. Clean water and the absence of “sand whirlwinds” await you. And various debris that is dangerous for feet is much more noticeable on pebbles.

Concrete beaches in Montenegro.

Concrete beaches too great option. This is when there are sun loungers on the beach, and we go down into the water along a ladder or steps.

Does it cause hostility? At first we did too. Exactly until the moment we realized that it was like swimming in a pool, but at the same time in real sea water.

Such beaches are convenient for people who can swim and prefer to pay for sunbeds. Although we often saw vacationers with a towel on concrete beaches. Most often in and.

A definite advantage of this option is the absence of sand getting into your eyes, mouth, towel and bag and steep descents - you do not have to go several tens of meters into the sea.

The most common such beaches are in and. The largest and most famous is Ploce beach, which is located 12 km from. We recommend: the beach is beautiful, well equipped and not too expensive.

Rivieras in Montenegro

In Montenegro, beaches are usually divided into Rivieras based on the name of the nearest large city. Each Riviera has its own advantages and disadvantages, which are worth considering when you choose your future holiday destination. Let's try to briefly go over the main points:

Budva Riviera

The following cities are usually included in the Budva Riviera:

  • - one of the most;
  • and Milocher - luxury recreation centers;
  • Petrovac is a resort considered healing due to its olive and pine groves;
  • and - small resort villages, which back in 1935 won the Grand Prix for the most beautiful beach in Europe.
  • Sutomore is one of the cheapest resorts in Montenegro. There are good sand and pebble beaches here, but there are a lot of tourists.

We will look at the beaches of Sutomore and their surroundings from a bird's eye view:

The Budva Riviera is considered one of the most famous and popular in Montenegro and is famous primarily for its sand and pebble beaches (the sand is often imported).

The beaches in Boka Kotorska are mostly concrete. There are practically no sand and pebble options. This is partially compensated by beautiful scenery all around - mountains surround the bay on all sides.

We will admire the bay from the city pier. By the way, such tourist liners enter the harbor very, very often.

Herceg-Nova Riviera

There is confusion on the Internet with cities belonging to the Hercegnovskaya Riviera. For some reason, they often include Risan, which is located on the territory of the community and quite far from. With confidence, the Herceg Novi Riviera includes:

  • - marvelous beautiful city on the slope of a low mountain, which is often called the botanical garden of Montenegro.
  • Igalo is a health resort in Montenegro. Here you can enjoy mineral waters and healing mud.
  • Meline
  • Kumbor

The beaches of the Herceg-Novska Riviera are small, but quite diverse. Here, more and more often, concrete beaches are starting to come across, sometimes sand and pebble options with imported sand. There are also several natural pebble beaches(For example, ).

The beaches of Ulcinj are covered with basalt sand. It is dark gray in color and is considered healing. A whole complex of minerals (iodine, calcium salts and carbonates) in such sand have a beneficial effect on the musculoskeletal system.

Theoretically, the beach season on the Ulcinj Riviera lasts for six months - from April to November, but we did not dare to test this statement personally.
