The ebb and flow of Hua Hin. Tide schedule for Krabi

And we have a fresh review of a vacation in Hua Hin, where Olga vacationed with her husband and grandson. And the activity of this mature couple can definitely be the envy of young people) they managed to do everything, and what they didn’t have time to do, they will have time for their return visit) The most important thing is the desire to return ☀️❤️ ・・・ A month and a half has passed since we returned from Hua Hin. Usually we organize our own vacation - we go on vacation to Vietnam, Southern China, but this time I bought tickets to Thailand on a promotion, and the question arose - where to go next, where to vacation in Thailand? On this vacation we decided to take our 3.5 year old grandson with us, so the first

Many of my friends heard about this city for the first time in Thailand, but many of them are probably all there. ..my acquaintance with this place began a year ago, when I accidentally came across Anastasia’s page on Instagram @instababythai which is very detailed and interesting

And on the first day of sales, out of 122 apartments allocated for our market, 29 were already sold! ⠀ Thank you for your trust in all our clients. Not even a joke about MM Airlines on April 1

  • 4 months ago ago by huahinmmgroup Another fresh review from our guests. Europeanized Thailand - what is the exact definition of Hua Hin. Thank you ❤️ ⠀ Well, after almost 2 weeks of being at home, having re-done a bunch of things, I’m ready. During our almost month-long vacation, I received a lot of questions, like: “where are you? What kind of country? What kind of city is this?” Should I go with children? What kind of food? Like the sea? Like the beach? And what do they eat it with?..." I answer. All the beauty that you have seen is Thailand! Hua Hin city!!! Hua Hin is a mainland! This is a completely different Thailand! As my friend, who has already studied Thailand in full and who has been living in Pattaya for six months, said, Hua Hin is a Europeanized Thailand! And I agree with this! A wonderful place, with a beautiful clean beach... light sand, beautiful, transparent sea, and which is not little

Every day we notice that Russians and Ukrainians are Hua Hine it’s getting bigger and bigger before our eyes (literally yesterday we met Uncle Victor from Nikolaev; a week before that, a family of our readers arrived from Moscow with three charming daughters, a week later our friend is coming from Zaporozhye, and so on)…

Guys we know who visited these parts for the first time in 2010 say that the number of whites in Hua Hin has increased significantly in 3 years. Not so long ago there were almost none of them, but now suddenly there are a lot of them.

It goes without saying that as the tourist flow increases, various technical issues arise more often. Today's article will be about the Hua Hin climate, which has its own characteristic differences from the climate of other Thai resorts.

*The picture came to us from Wikipedia - just in time.

    • Humidity

According to Wikipedia, Hua Hin has a tropical climate "with high humidity and infrequent rainfall." But whoever wrote this clearly doesn’t know what truly high humidity is. 🙂 I recommend that he go to Bangkok first, and then to Koh Samui, and try to dry a towel there after a shower during the rainy season.

One of the advantages of Hua Hin for us is its fairly low humidity (like for a Thai resort). Everything is learned by comparison, so we compared and realized that laundry dries quickly, things that have been lying in the closet for a long time do not become moldy and do not acquire a characteristic smell, and they do not even have to be hung in the sun once a week. But definitely, if your body is not accustomed to the Thai climate, then the first few days the air will seem heavy to you even in Hua Hin. You also need to take into account that the humidity in Hua Hin depends on the season. As you can see in the table, for example, in October there are 17 rainy days, and in January there are only two. Moreover, the amount of precipitation falling in these months differs by as much as 16 times.

    • Seasonality

The reason for the striking seasonal differences is the type of climate in Hua Hin. It is called a tropical climate with dry winters and rainy summers (or tropical savanna climate). In fact, there are three whole seasons in Hua Hin, which I will write about a little below. This type of climate is typical for a fairly large area of Thailand. Since Hua Hin is located on the coast of the Gulf of Thailand, the proximity of the sea also leaves its mark.

    • windiness

Wind is a common occurrence in Hua Hin, especially in winter. Thanks to this, Hua Hin has gained fame among fans of the sport of kite surfing (riding on a board with a “kite” or kite). Of course, the wind is much more inconvenient at -20 than at +25, but summer wind can also be unpleasant. We all know how popular transport in Thailand is a motorbike. So, riding a moped is much more difficult in strong winds.

Bent and broken trees are not uncommon in Hua Hin

    • Water temperature in Hua Hin

By our Black Sea standards, the water in the Gulf of Thailand is always very warm. In winter it’s +26, in summer it’s +28, so sometimes I would even like it to be cooler. But this is all for everyone, of course - some people prefer not to swim in the sea, but to look at it.

It goes without saying that the water temperature may vary depending on the weather, time of day, beach, wind direction, etc. I can add that in winter Hua Hin there are often strong waves, but Khao Takiab Beach is relatively calm, which is located behind the mountain of the same name, and it partially protects it from winds and waves.

    Seasons in Hua Hin

    • Cool and dry season (November/December - February)

This season is characterized by high tides, lack of precipitation and cool weather. The air temperature in the winter dry season usually fluctuates around 27...28 degrees. In the evening it can be quite cool, and at night the temperature can drop to an incredible 17 degrees... Although this does not happen every year, so local residents They consider it almost a frost and a natural disaster.

The absolute record low temperature in Hua Hin is 13.9 degrees. So there are warm blankets in almost every home. =)

    • Hot season (March - June)

According to eyewitnesses, the hot season of Hua Hin is still not as hot as, say, in Bangkok. In April of this year, we experienced for ourselves what it is like to be hot (+43 in the shade and 99% humidity). The hot season in Hua Hin is much more gentle - during the day the air warms up to +30...35 degrees, and the nights remain very comfortable at +24...25. During the hot season, the tides become less strong and the wind subsides, so the kitesurfing season closes at the end of February.

    • Rainy season in Hua Hin (June - October/November)

Once I wrote about - for us it was a real miracle of nature. It’s one thing to read other people’s reviews about the rainy season, and another thing to be in the epicenter of events when the rain is continuously pouring (it’s pouring) in a continuous stream for 24...48...72 or more hours.

This good time, to take care of your household chores, and especially if you work from home (and the power and Internet in your house are not even turned off in the event of a flood). If you need to go to the border run, to the dentist, for some other urgent matter, or strategic reserves of rice, chicken, mango or something you can’t live without suddenly ran out, then you need a pickup truck.))) During the rainy season on Samui, almost all Thais switched from bikes to pickup trucks. But if you don’t have one, then you need a raincoat. However, it still won’t help! But you can feel like a super hero, carrying out an important task - as if the fate of the world depends on whether you buy cucumbers and pineapple today. =)

But what’s surprising is that the rainy season in Hua Hin is completely different, since the climate here is not monsoon, but savannah type. From June to October in XX falls greatest number precipitation, the weather is often cloudy, and the air temperature on such days drops to +28. However, catastrophic rains that fall continuously for weeks are practically excluded here. Moreover, the city's drainage system is so poorly designed that if it rains for only half a day without a break, the streets are flooded and traffic is often paralyzed.

I think if Hua Hin had a real rainy season, like Samui, then something would have been done to the drainage system of the royal resort long ago... Although we won’t guess. =)

    Hua Hin weather today

    So, now about today's weather.

If on islands such as Koh Samui, weather forecasts often lie, and we generally got the impression that they were drawn from a lantern, then in Hua Hin this is completely normal. I think the reason is not the negligence of the hydrometeorological center, but the fact that the weather on the islands is determined by many more factors than the weather on the mainland. Currents, storms, ebbs and flows, plus if there are still mountains on the islands, they can delay air masses or change their directions...

In addition to our popular weather forecasting services (gismeteo, weather forecaster...), I can recommend trying the windfinder service. In addition to fairly accurate forecasts of temperatures and weather types, it offers information on wind strength and much more. But, of course, at this stage I have not heard that there are any perfect forecasts - they are all wrong sometimes.

Many people are also interested in the tide charts in Hua Hin. Personally, we don’t use such services, but I know that people use this site. What to see there is a mystery to me, but if you really want to, I think you can figure it out. 😉

That's all. If you have anything to add, please leave your comments.

Hua Hin- unusual (for us) for Thailand big city, very civilized with excellent roads. Unlike Samui (Samui Island), there are sidewalks and even bicycle paths. But there are no pedestrian crossings as a class. At all. You have to run across: “run for life” For example, a three-lane road. And if the road is divided by a bumper then: “jump for life”.
In places where tourists gather (literally 2-3 places), in the evenings a policeman stands on the road and stops cars allowing clumsy Europeans to cross the road. The secret of crossing the street is that when cars and mopeds see you crossing the road, they slow down and the seemingly second gap between the streams of cars suddenly turns into 30 seconds, which is quite enough to cross the road. But it's still scary :-)

Everything here is not cheap as for Thailand. (more about yum-yum).

Taxis are available - from 100 baht per trip. These are cars, usually pickup trucks, with people sitting in the back. The body is equipped and sewn up - it’s very pleasant to ride with the breeze. There are also regular cars, but they are rare and more often used for long trips.
There are minibuses (tuk-tuks) - not exactly moto tuk-tuks like on Samui - but the closest analogy. These run from 9 am to 7 pm every 10 minutes and from 7-9 pm every 15 minutes. They also run later, but at taxi prices. The minibus charges 10 baht from the nose - people often hang with one leg above the roadway - but there is something to hold onto - inside people are all very cooperative and 10 baht :) From seven in the evening to nine in the evening the cost is 15 baht.
Yesterday we saw a grandfather returning from golf (with clubs worth a thousand) - also in this minibus - Thailand is very democratic.

Hotels are expensive. Less than a hundred bucks a night and don't go near it. These are the ones at sea. Those in the center of the village cost 100-200 UAH per night (I warn you they will look like... well, you can imagine how), and all hotels are fully booked for the weekend! On weekends it is also more expensive. For example, a cool place will cost 300-400 on a weekday and $500 on a weekend - but they look good. Looking for a decent hotel here is expensive and unrealistic- you need to book in advance on airbnb and booking and agoda.

    cicada market

Next to us (on foot) is the cicada market - a flea market with not very standard souvenirs (like St. Andrew's) - the most valuable thing there is food. For example, for 18 UAH 3 small sweet and delicious pineapples. I'll go get them again tomorrow.

A kilometer away from us there is Market Village - a collection of shops/boutiques, a local center, and Mac Donald's. Another kilometer is the night market. - A typical Thai hotspot.

For some reason, security in hotels and condominiums salutes everyone or only tourists at the entrance and exit. They do this with a smile and very solemnly. It is not clear how to react to this.
Vladislav also salutes them and this makes them happy. Yesterday there was an incident - we passed by the hotel - the guard saluted us - Vladislav saluted him too. The security guard was delighted and ran after Vladislav, as if inviting him to a boxing match. Vladislav let him get closer and then hit the guard (not too hard, apparently) with his elbow in the face! The guard was taken aback, rubbed his face and said: “aaa thai box, aa gud, aaa.” Everyone laughed :)
