Regional Park of Lomas de Arena. Architecture and technical equipment

If you drive from the south to the north of Tenerife, the first of the three resorts you will come across is Playa de la Arena(often erroneously called Playa de la Arena). It is part of an agglomeration of three cities, in which, in addition to it, there are also Pueroto de Santiago and Los Gigantes. WITH Spanish The name of this resort town translates as “sandy beach” (playa - beach, arena - sand).

Playa de la Arena boasts best beach in your region– La Arena. For many years he has been receiving European blue flag– a universal global “quality mark” for beaches. La Arena is quite small, but it is safe to say that it will stand comparison with any other similarly sized beach on the island. This is especially true when you consider that while many of the island's popular beaches are artificial (made from sand imported from the Sahara), La Arena Beach is natural. Its black sand remains a constant reminder of the island's volcanic origins. The beach is located in the city center, along the main coastal highway Avenida Maritima, from which you can easily enter free parking near the beach. The beach offers a magnificent view of massive rocks that drop sharply down into the ocean. The Playa de la Arena hotel is adjacent to the beach on one side.

Water La Arena Beach is relatively calm, but can sometimes experience high waves. Caution should be exercised as there are underwater currents nearby that change in intensity depending on the weather and the presence of waves. When the sea is rough, large stones that are located directly under the water may not be visible and pose a danger to swimmers. It is also recommended not to let small children swim alone, since the shore underwater ends abruptly quite close to the water's edge. When swimming on a beach poses a danger to people, a red flag is hung on it. Don't ignore him.

In summer, when the sun is shining brightly, you should be careful because dark sand heats up easily to very high temperatures. It is recommended to take flip flops with you.

The beach is great for couples, families and seniors. He is considered one of the most clean beaches.

The new sports and cultural complex U-Arena belongs to the Racing 92 rugby club and is located in the suburb of Paris Nanterrere, the administrative center of the Hauts-de-Seine department.

From idea to implementation

In June 2010, the General Council of the Hauts-de-Seine department and the mayor's office of Nanterre initiated the construction of a new home sports arena for the Racing 92 rugby team and a theater and concert hall. Initially, the idea of the project met resistance from some deputies from the Green and Socialist parties, and also faced protests from local residents.

Since the beginning of 2011, the development of the project for Europe's largest theater and sports center was entrusted to the French architect C. de Portzamparc. After several years of public discussion and changes to the project, the foundation of a new sports and culture palace was laid in February 2014. The site chosen for its construction was the playing fields in the Arc Gardens near the La Grande Arche de la Fraternité skyscraper in the La Défense business district of Greater Paris.

The scope of the main construction work was carried out by the Racing Arena company, part of the Investment Ovalto holding and owned by the Swiss businessman and president of the Racing 92 rugby club Jacques Lorenzetti. The industrial and commercial organization EPASA and the city of Nanterre also took part in the project.

Architecture and technical equipment

In November 2016, in order to attract additional investment in construction, it was decided to abandon the original name Arena-92 in favor of the modern version U-Arena. This choice is also supported by the U-shaped layout of the building itself.

When finishing the façade of the sports and cultural complex, 592 giant aluminum and glass panels equipped with 3 thousand LED strips were used. In operating mode, they can provide 16 million colors and shades. Specialists from L’Emotion Studio took part in creating the impressive lighting of the palace.

The modular multifunctional hall U-Arena can accommodate 32 thousand fans under its roof during a rugby match or from 10 thousand to 40 thousand spectators at concerts and shows of popular performers and groups. The main entrances to the stands of the universal entertainment center are located from the prefecture of Nanterre (via Nanterre prefecture) and La Defense Grand Arche (via La Defense Grand Arche).

The new sports and concert complex significantly exceeds the previous European record holders in terms of capacity of the Palais omnisports de Paris-Bercy hall with its 20.3 thousand seats for spectators and the Arena do Stade Pierre Maurois (l'Arena du stade Pierre-Mauroy) in Lille, accommodating 25 thousand people.

The U-Arena is equipped with one of the largest projection screens in the world with an area of 1,400 m2 and an Avel Acoustique sound system. The stage design was done by Duck Scéno, a company that has created projects for the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis and the Casa de Musica in Porto. The sports and concert complex also includes the construction of shops and office premises with an area of 33 thousand m2. His total area is 117 thousand m2.

Great prospects

Construction of the sports and cultural complex will be completed on September 30, 2017. Its grand opening will take place on October 19, 22 and 25 with concerts by the legendary rock band Rolling Stone. Until the end of 2017 in the new concert hall There will also be performances by 1980s stars including Sabrina, Patrick Hernandez, Julie Petrie, Jonice Jameson, Cookie Dingler and many more guests.

Among the upcoming sporting events, it is planned to hold the Supercross de Paris motocross competition. The administration of the sports and cultural complex plans to hold e-sports competitions and world premieres of films.

Taking into account the matches of the regular French rugby championship, the U-Arena can host up to 40 concerts and various shows throughout the year. During the Olympic Games in Paris in 2024, the U-Arena is also scheduled to host artistic gymnastics competitions.

Tickets for upcoming sporting and other entertainment events at U-Arena are easy to purchase in advance on the arena’s website.

For the convenience of fans of the Racing 92 team and spectators going to concerts and shows, parking for personal cars is equipped near the stadium. At the same time, it can freely accommodate 500 passenger cars.
