If you want to see a monastery like the one in the photo above, you should arrive in Kykkos at least by 9 am and leave no later than 6 am, or better yet, earlier.

This Cypriot village was a discovery for us and an absolute must visit place in the Troodos Mountains. Of interest is the old part in the center - Old Kakopetria, which is a labyrinth of intricate cobbled streets above a rushing river. You need to walk both along the old part and down along the river - there are walking route and a mini-embankment that starts from the old mill.
Getting there is not difficult, but be prepared for picturesque serpentines - the village lies high in the mountains. The closest is Limassol, only fifty kilometers and a little over an hour’s drive.
You need to leave early in the morning and plan at least one day for the entire trip and it will be one of your best days in Cyprus, believe me.
