One of the attractions of La Plagne is the bobsleigh track, the only one in France.

The resort was created in 1961, and since 2003 it, together with its neighbors, forms the second largest in the world after the famous Three Valleys ski region.

Brief description resort

La Plagne unites 12 villages, each of them can offer you excellent hotels, discos, restaurants and bars. Plagne Center is the first of the villages, built back in the 60s. The bulk of shopping and entertainment awaits you here. Belle Plagne is distinguished by its convenient ski area location. Plagne 1800, Plagne Bellecote, Plagne Village, Aime la Plagne and Plagne Soleil are also well located. These seven villages are connected to each other by roads, trails and ski lifts. The remaining five villages are located lower down and are well suited for families with children, as there are excellent slopes nearby for teaching young skiers. This is Champagny - an ancient village located near Courchevel; Montchavin - here you can ski directly to the hotel door and the more modern Les Coches, Longefoy and Plagne Montalbert. You can get to the main ski area from these villages using lifts.

La Plagne is distinguished by its environmental friendliness. French Alps can be called a miracle of nature, therefore they must be preserved in their present form. Therefore, environmental specialists carefully monitor the construction of new facilities. Car traffic is prohibited on the resort territory; the car will have to be left in a special parking lot.

There are practically no problems with the amount of snow in La Plagne, since the pistes mainly run along northern slopes at an altitude of more than 2000 meters. Well, if there is still not enough snow, the snow cannons start working.

The resort's pistes cover an area of 10,000 hectares, which is more than at any other resort in the world. La Plagne has an extensive network of lifts and wide, straight slopes. It is ideal for athletes with average experience; most trails are designed specifically for them. There are also many suitable trails for children, as well as special lifts (free of charge) and experienced instructors.

Location

La Plagne can be reached from the airports of Lyon (196 km), Geneva (150 km), and Chambery (160 km).

Description of the routes

The resort's trails are suitable for athletes with almost any experience. There are 142 trails in total. For beginners, the greens (11) and most of the blues (70) will be of interest. ) is located in the eastern part of the resort, on a low (up to 2500 m) ridge running from the crest of Belcôte peak to Les Verdon mountains. The relief of the region is noticeably different from the neighboring one - the slopes here are more gentle (la plagne means “plateau” in the Savoyard dialect) and the lower part is abundantly overgrown with forest. There are noticeably more small resort villages, long slopes and, accordingly, cable cars. And the first ski station was built here in the early 1960s, which is why La Plagne is considered the recognized center of Paradiski.

Now there are 6 resort villages - Aime la Plagne (2100 m), Belle Plagne (2050 m), Plagne Soleil (2050 m), Plagne Bellecote (1930 m), Plagne Center (1970 m) and Plagne 1800 (1800 m), as well as 4 mountain villages, which are used as tourist centers mostly only in summer period, - Champagny en Vanoise (1250 m), Plagne Montalbert (1350 m), Montchavin (1250 m) and Les Coches (1450).

The resorts of the La Plagne region are designed for a relaxing family holiday - there are about 225 km of slopes, and about 60% of them are marked blue, at many stations motor vehicles are prohibited, and you can approach the hotel directly on skis, descending from simple wooded slopes ( mostly also “blue”, but there are many very short and gentle slopes at the bottom of the slopes). However, for more advanced skiers there are good “red” slopes above Champagny-en-Vanoise, from Sources and Grande Rochette, “black” slopes Morbleu, Harakiri and Kamikaze, as well as an interesting 15-kilometer glacier run Bellecote to the village of Montchaven (altitude difference - 2 km!).

Also in the resort area there is a first-class bobsled track, 3 fitness centers (in Belle Plagne, Plagne Bellecôte and Plagne Centre), a squash hall in Plagne 1800, skating rinks in Aime-la-Plagne and Plagne Bellecôte, a swimming pool in Plagne-Bellecôte, 90 km of flat skiing, modern Capella snowpark above Plagne Centre, boardercross track above Belle Plagne and half-pipe above Plagne-Bellecôte, fun park in Champagny-en-Vanoise, paragliding and hang-gliding school, 17 ski slopes and snowboard schools, large number rental points, children's clubs and gardens, as well as ski schools for all ages.

At the same time, La Plagne is considered a “quiet” resort - there are only 2 nightclubs (Le Bleu night in Aime-la-Plagne and L "Hexagone in Plagne-Monalbert), bowling in Belle Plagne, but in return you can find 8 discos, 5 cinemas, slot machines and paintball, many cozy bars and restaurants, as well as high-mountain restaurants with excellent Savoyard cuisine. There are 16 large hotels (mostly two- and three-star) and about four dozen small boarding houses and chalets that can simultaneously accommodate up to. 8 thousand people.

A La Plagne ski pass for 1 day will cost 40 euros for an adult (14-59 years old), 30 euros for a child (6-13 years old), 30 euros for pensioners (over 60 years old), 192, 144 euros for a six-day pass. and 163 euros respectively. A common Paradiski Unlimited ski pass for the entire area (La Plagne, Les Arcs, Peysey-Valladry, Villaroger plus 1 day of skiing in Espace Killy, Trois Vallees, Les Saisies and Pralognan en Vanoise) for 6 days will cost 233 euros for an adult, 175 euros for a child and 198 euros for pensioners, for 13 days - 404, 303 and 343 euros, respectively. La Plagne- the second ski area, which in the winter of 2003 entered the Paradiski zone. It consists of 10 stations, six of which are connected by roads, slopes and lifts, and four are located a little away. The most convenient hotels and residences are located in Plagne 1800, Plagne Bellecôte (1930 m), Plagne Center (1970 m), Em Plagne (2100 m), Belle Plagne (2050 m), Plagne Soleil (2050 m) and Plagne-Village (2050 m).

All this attracts tourists from all over the world. Plagne is ideal for intermediate skiers, as most of the slopes are easy; excellent conditions for teaching children - free ski lifts, many instructors, special teaching methods and many children's trails. Car traffic is prohibited at Plani stations; there are closed parking lots (paid) at the entrance.

Characteristics of the routes
For professionals:
there are only two areas that deserve attention - the black pistes leading from the Bellecôte glacier and the descents from Bioley, a good piste from Grand Rochette to Champagne, but due to the fact that the slope is southern, it can get snowy. Those who wish can test themselves on virgin soil.
For intermediate level: La Plagne is ideal for intermediate skiers, with many blue and red runs available. The slopes in Champagne will be interesting for advanced skiers; their names speak for themselves: “Kamikaze” and “Harakiri”. The long red run of Mont de la Guerre is magnificent; There are easy trails in the main valley, long, long descents from Roche de Mio are good, however, the second part of one of them is classified as black trails. But basically all sectors have excellent red slopes.
For beginners: Of course, La Plagne will be interesting for beginners. All pistes and ski lifts are located near the accommodation. Perhaps, when you look at the map, you will notice that there are not enough green trails, but the blue trails are quite simple and easy to master.
